Holy shit, this guy tried to slowly murder his co worker over a year of poisoning and he got 1 day in jail? California is so fucked.

But wait, there's more:
Yuan had sought nearly $500,000 in restitution but Xu was ordered to pay only a $7,058 restitution order.
He completed his probation earlier this year in March and is now asking the court to formally dismiss the felony conviction under California’s expungement statute.
Under California law, judges are bound to grant record dismissals to defendants who fulfill every term of their probation.

She must have had a shit lawyer as well. She got less than $7500 in restitution. ($500k was requested, and personally, that still seams small given the case.) That probably barely covered (if at all) her legal fees and days off of work, and thats not including the ones where she was dying from being poisoned.

Remember that Norm Macdonald did say that murder was legal in California after OJ Simpson was acquitted.

And, No. Pamela Price was removed by voters, not by the Democratic Party.
In fact, the local Democratic Party defended her. The Alameda County Democratic Party formally opposed her recall and pledged support for efforts to keep her in off

Okay so, a lot of the time, attempted murder is one act of violence and it’s possible that the decision to act was one made during a state of high emotion. In cases like these, I can see how a sentence may not be very severe. However, this case is so much worse in my opinion. This evil man had a plan and acted on it over the course of 18 freaking months. At any point, he could have stopped and realized what he was doing was wrong and had PLENTY of time to do so. The fact that he continued to poison her shows a level of malice that is deserving a very severe sentence.
The fact that he only served one day in jail and just got two years of probation is a complete joke. Then he has the gall to ask the judge for a clearing of his felony on record.

She also said that her parents drank from that water bottle, so he poisoned them as well.

None released, but anonymous sources suggested professional jealousy may have played a role
