Chess is a battle between two harems protecting their man

Originally it was not a Queen, but "a counselor, minister, or advisor". So the pawn didn't have to marry the king to get the job.

Can someone please tell my brain that wondering if there is Jafar x Sultan content on AO3 is not how I want to start my day? (Although of course, if they swing that way, no judgment.)

In some countries, the chess pieces are called differently. The queen is a general, and pawns are soldiers. On reaching the end of the board, the soldiers can graduate to any other elite unit because they have proved themselves.

In Polish, Queen is often called "Hetman" which is "highest in military command".

In hindi (Urdu actually) we call it wazir, something like prime minister
Pawn is called pyada (or paidal) like walking soldier or infantry

I think the page needs to be edited to include chess. I would assume chess is a "tabletop game," right?

No, battle harem isn't a genre where harem battle against each other but they are basically series focus in actions and harem.

I've played chess for nearly 5 decades now (I started early)- and this has literally NEVER occurred to me before reading this.
That's so MFing cool!
I LOVE when a single thing can totally upend my whole brain-worth of experience...
I have so much thinking to do about this.

It’s a clever piece of writing but it doesn’t make any sense.
The knights almost surely aren’t women and the bishops likely aren’t meant to be women and the rooks are little castles. So a pawn can become men, women, and an inanimate object.
It’s easier to make up clever things to say when you ignore most of what’s actually true.

Queens don’t have to be women

All A must be B does not imply all B must be A (all squares are rectangles does not imply all rectangles are squares). If all pawns were women, and can be promoted to, for example, knights, that doesn’t mean knights are all women. Only that some knights are women.

The original version from India has it has mantri / minister so it's more like a promotion/recognition for reaching enemy lines

Alternatively, chess pieces have a social and biological structure somewhat like clownfish, and their sex is subject to change based on their role in the colony
