Hey y’all!
If you’re new here or looking for info, this is the place to stop and check before you post that question you’re thinking about asking - the answer may already be in our FAQ! There's also some recommendations in there for learning about lore.
I’d recommend also checking the New Player Question or Question flairs to see if your question has been asked before. You can also type into whatever search engine you use:
[insert your question here] baldursgate3 reddit
Or
[insert your question here] bg3 reddit
That’ll help us prevent the subreddit from being cluttered with the same repeated questions.
If your question hasn't been asked (or asked recently enough) then use either one of the question flairs above and ask away.

Act 3 - Spoilers Minsc x Sarevok is so tragic when you play BG2 Spoiler
galleryI recently finished BG2 and returned to play BG3.
It's objectively the best fight of the game in my opinion. Minsc failed to save him and he can't save from himself. It gave me a lump in my throat. It is the only fight without a winner of the game, all the other villains will die, but Sarevok will keep being revived and tormented by his father because he is too powerful to die. The irony is that he really wants to die.

General Discussion - [NO SPOILERS] What's a weird RP thing you do that has no affect in game? Spoiler
For me I always pick up and send to camp all the water containers (carafe and such). My RP is my main Tav likes to keep clean so they are gathering up water, soap and sponges for regular night bathing and washing of clothes. The lakes you come across don't count for cleaning. Plus they would prefer to drink water versus wine or beer.

Companions I have subscribed to the Halsin hype. Spoiler
galleryI killed Oliver my first playthrough (oops, my bad Ollie), so was not able to recruit Haslin as he stayed behind.
My second playthrough, I was able to lift the curse so he was able to move forward. I partnered with Shadowheart but once we made it past the gates, Haslin proclaimed his feelings, and his desire to devour. 🫦
I really love how he confesses his feelings and understands it's a sensitive topic to share oneself among many. 💖
The writers that inscribed his words did their magic with him. It's very ethereal in a way. How he says 'my heart' 🥺
I also love the quick banter between him and Shadowheart when she askswhat kind of animal she would be, and he replies a goldfish based on her memory issues. 🤣 She asks if he'll carry her around and feed her flakes, to which he says only the finest. 🥹

Companions 'I want to talk about all that's happened to us' Spoiler
I've been replaying the again and finally decided to ask you all about it. Have you ever wondered why only Shadowheart has this option for the whole game? I was thinking about it in my first playthrough and I am in my seventh/eleventh (I often switch). Honestly, I would kind of like it if other companions had this too. What do you think?

Ending Spoilers ... is that all? 😭 Spoiler
I finished my first playthrough last night with my boyfriend, playing as a paladin (daring I know) that had romanced Shadowheart and given her a good ending with her parents as a Selunite, 100/100 approval.
I chose to free Orpheus and sacrifice myself as the mindflayer, then end my life at the very end because Oath of Ancients and all that, to which Shadowheart had one line just telling me to not do it.
Then in the epilogue I was surprised that Withers brought me back to observe, but of course I couldn't interact with anyone so my bf had to do it for me. No one mentioned me or acted sad that I couldn't be there with them, least of all Shart.
Did I do something wrong? Is it a co-op thing? Or is this really the "good" ending where everyone just forgets you and what you did?

Mods / Modding Finished Act 2 Expansion Mod (SPOILERS FOR LOOT) Spoiler
Just got to the end of the absolutely incredible Act 2 Expansion Mod by SquallyDaBeanz.
Genuinely adored every second of it and feel so sad it is over.
The fights were INCREDIBLY fun. I know some people claimed there were too many throughout the mod, but I felt they were perfectly balanced and fit thematically well. I went full risk as I had played up to this point solo on honour mode with my giant barbarian, however did have to call in reinforcements for some fights. It was challenging and despite a few real life jumpscares making my heart race (Thorns and damn dragon..) every fight was super fun and engaging.
The entire environment in every section is incredible, my partner walked in and thought there had been an update due to how naturally it looked part of the games narrative. I especially loved the manor section with the vineyard, it was very beautiful. I literally went to every corner of the map to make sure I didn't miss any section, but still fear I could have missed some content.
Now to the loot additions. I have played 900 hours on PS5 and 300 hours on PC, I love character creation mods but have never been a huge fan of mods that add new loot. I feel they can be overpowered, as well as already enjoying the vast amount of already available loot in the base game. However the loot added in this mod feels so natural in the game. Every time I came across a new piece it felt earned, as well as making me sit and think about builds they would fit in well with. I love how pieces of loot integrate certain elements added in update 7, such as a bladesong armour, a necklace for bursting sinew and a cape for star druids.
At first when I saw 70+ new items in the nexus description I brushed it off and thought 'cool but probably won't use'. But after finding the first 5 items, I took 70+ pieces of new loot seriously. Pictured above is my inventory of exactly 70 items I found throughout playing (Excluding the potion, drank that immediately) I hate to think if I missed any thing, but know I will probably find it in my next playthrough.
If you are considering this mod, you ABSOLUTELY should. It is incredible, thank you so much to the creator for bringing it to life. Also if anyone who has played notices any loot missing... tell me.

General Discussion - [NO SPOILERS] Does anyone else have this weird habit? Spoiler
I just hit 1060 hours in this amazing game which has, for a while, been my favorite game of all time, but one would think that by this point, I'd have finished the game tens of times, right? Wrong. And you know why I haven't? Because every one of my playthroughs is plagued by my stupid obsession over lighting every single candle, torch and campfire on, which extends my games by several unnecessary hours.
Is anyone else like this?

New Player Question Helldusk Boots just… didn’t work? Spoiler
Tried using the Helldusk Boots for the first time today… I used the reaction to succeed a saving throw against Ensnaring Strike and just still got ensnared, the reaction simply did nothing
Am I missing something about how it works or was it just a glitch? Does this happen regularly?

Origin Romance My mind says seduce Gale, but my heart says Astarion Spoiler
Okay, so I discovered this game less than a month ago and have played for 120 hours. My first complete playthrough as Tav was a Druid Elf that immediately fell for Asatarion.
Long story short, I finished the rite of ascension, with the head cannon that Tav is a simple nature boy. This was definitely not me as a player inserting myself into the story in any way. I also let Gale kaboom himself, arguing that Tav would now prefer to remove one method of threatening Astarion.
So I finished the game and started a new character. All is well, I’ll seduce Gale so I’m fair to my nice, cozy wizard man. Except, I made Durge and then learn a lot of the Durge story works perfectly with Astarion!
Why does this game keep making me break dear Gale’s heart?

General Discussion - [NO SPOILERS] Late to the party but finally started my first playthrough Spoiler
I can't believe it took me so long to play this game! Only just found the Emerald Enclave and loving it so much with my high elf evoker, and I love all the companions I've found so far.

Dark Urge Galdur, the Unmade Son Spoiler
galleryMeet Galdur, Born to a half orc mother who never named his father. The red dreams came in his teens, a voice that sounded like his own thoughts, only louder. His mother called him her gentle boy and died believing it.
He became a barbarian because it was the only place his rage had a name. Then one night he woke over people who had surrendered, with no memory of choosing. He was a Bhaalspawn.
When Sceleritas Fel told him to kill Karlach, the one person who saw a man instead of a weapon, something in him refused. Out of love, not strength. So he swore a paladin’s oath, publicly, so it would be too heavy to break quietly.
He rarely speaks. He keeps watch so others can sleep, takes the first blow, and remembers the small things about the people who chose to stay near him. Ask how he’s doing and he’ll say, “I’m holding. We’re all holding.”
Every life he spares is a debt paid back to a dead god’s ledger, and proof for the next child with red dreams that there’s another way to end.
i would love to see your Tavs / Durges!

Origin Characters Who do you ship? Spoiler
I’m doing my first Origin run (on my first play though with my partner were early act 3) as Karlach; an I decided to romance Wyll I think they complement each-other well. I had a hard time deciding who I thought would go with her well.
Who’s everyone’s favorite ships?
On yes I know can I say I think it’s hilarious dialogue with Astarion since he can’t drink from me. 😂

General Questions - [SPOILERS] Killing all of the Flaming Fist and other guars Spoiler
Is it possible to completely rid the city of all of its security forces? Is there a point at which guards cannot be summoned if you steal something, because you've killed all of them? Is there any sort of a negative consequence for you at shops or with NPCs if you do attempt to do this?

Playthrough / Highlight Possibly my dumbest honor mode wipe Spoiler
Still not 100% sure how I got blown to smithereens in the Zhentarim hideout. Wasn't in combat. Thinking maybe because Astarion had a torch equipped at the time?
