Announcement BG3 Builds Rebalanced: Final

Background

Since Baldur’s Gate 3’s full launch released with Tactician difficulty and the community began their blind playthroughs, complaints have existed that the game becomes way too easy for those familiar with D&D 5e fundamentals (attack rolls, saving throws, skill checks, proficiency, advantage) starting in mid to late Act 2. The game has such strong magic items that after you pay a visit to the merchants in the Creche, Last Light Inn, and Moonrise the difficulty takes a huge nosedive. This lack of difficulty and lack of content for evil playthroughs have been some of the biggest complaints in an otherwise great and generational game. This post intends to highlight some of the biggest balance shattering mechanics as discussed by this community, inform those looking for more balanced playthroughs on what limits to impose, and also provide mod options to help balance these mechanics or balance enemies.

A poll was created to cover some of the most balance shattering mechanics, using community feedback to determine the topics discussed. The following “community opinions” are those where 52.7% of the community decided some restriction should be used to restore a semblance of balance. My goal was 2/3 of respondents agreeing that a restriction needs to be in place, then going with the most popular choice. However some questions (like whether to use Honour mode rules or whether to use camp casting) could be considered ‘courtesy’ questions. These restrictions absolutely must be in place to reach the goals of “rebalanced” when you consider broken combos like DRS which is fixed by honour mode or warding bond camp casting. The 21% of people who voted that ignoring these restrictions is OK are not in tune with the goal of “rebalanced.” So the goal shifted to 2/3 of respondents that are sane, informed on what they are voting on, or voting in good faith. As there are some who feel, “Why is balance necessary in a PvE game?” is a legitimate question. While that is certainly an opinion to have, the people with that opinion are not the people who this topic is intended for. People who want to use broken stuff can use broken stuff. This topic is for identifying what stuff is broken, and what self-imposed rules or mods can be used to restore a semblance of balance.

What is and is not addressed by “Rebalanced?”

This doesn’t cover everything that is OP. Stuff like Gloomstalker Assassin builds that use hit-and-run mechanics are almost a completely different game. It doesn’t cover gimmicks like stacking crates and having an enlarged owlbear jump on enemies over and over and over again. It doesn’t cover powerful but also very tedious builds focused on getting tons of summons and then buffing them. It doesn’t cover things like barrelmancy. The “Rebalanced” discussion is focused on turning a normal playthrough which many would not consider to be tedious, addressing some of the balance breaking mechanics such players have access to, pointing out that their relative strength removes fun from the game for many players, and many people may want to avoid these options.

BG3Builds Rebalanced Restrictions

The following table is listed in order of most strongly opinionated in need of restriction, to least strongly opinionated. It starts with the most egregious violators and goes to less egregious ones that a large portion of the community feels needs some kind of restriction for a balanced gameplay experience.

Topic BG3Builds Rebalanced Restriction Personal comments, not from community Relevant Mods
Long Rest Spamming Once a build is “online,” (typically around level 6-8) it should be able to go at least 3 or 4 fights before a long rest. Not including taking a long rest before a boss fight, which is fine. If you are concerned about missing story points in camp by limiting long rests, then after a long rest take a partial rest (use no food supplies) to see additional camp scenes. -
Honour Mode Rules Use Honour Mode rules This includes no builds that focus on DRS bug, no warlock extra attack stacking, no perilous stakes illithid power on enemies. Additionally no extra attack from bloodlust elixirs or haste spell. While the community did not vote to restrict the use of spellcasting with extra actions granted by haste or bloodlust elixirs this is potentially a polling error on my part, and I STRONGLY recommend avoiding this. -
Camp Casting Do not put allies into your party, have them cast buff spells or other effects, then remove them from your party allowing the buffs to persist - -
Elixir Chugging No builds that depend on elixirs The most egregious outliers are strength based elixirs, bloodlust elixirs, elixirs of vigilance and elixir of battlemage’s power. Using other elixirs on consistent basis likely will not be as bad as those listed above. In Game Mods: N/a   External Mods: Elixir Rebalance by Benenach
Consumables Dependence (e.g. scrolls and special arrows) - This question was left out by accident. However it goes in the same vein as the above elixir question, regarding farming consumables that your build depends on and therefore should be restricted. -
Tavern Brawler No using Tavern Brawler if you use Strength Elixirs I strongly disagree. This does absolutely nothing to fix TB Throw builds. TB Monks can dip into fighter or cleric for heavy armor proficiency and dump Dex anyways. Tavern Brawler is broken at its core. In-game Mods: N/a   External Mods: Tavern Brawler Rebalanced by VoidVigilante. I recommend the “TavernBrawlerFinesse_NoAccuracy” version. This is still pretty strong, and even works with dex based monks, but is not balance shattering; Feats Rebalanced by WoolToque has a nerfs only optional file which also makes changes to Sharpshooter, Great Weapon Master, and Alert
Ranged Slashing Flourish No combining ranged slashing flourish with Arcane Acuity - -
Abjuration Wizard Arcane Ward No using exploits (such as spamming Warlock’s Armour of Shadows) to refill the arcane ward The damage resistance provided by Arcane Ward scales exponentially due to Larian’s changes. At higher levels of wizard it is insane, and I am not sure everyone who voted has seen just how much damage it can mitigate. I recommend not using abjuration wizard if going more than 6 or 7 levels in wizard. -

Further Topics

The following are topics which the community did not agree needed restrictions in BG3Builds Rebalanced, but I feel need addressing.

Topic My comments Relevant Mods
Initiative There may be a polling error behind why 34% of respondents in the previous question said no elixir dependence at all, then only 19% here say no dependence on Elixirs of Vigilance. Regardless d4 initiative makes the turnbased game balance issue known as “Rocket Tag” extremely easy to pull off. The Alert Feat and Elixirs of Vigilance should be approached with caution if you are not using mods to bring initiative back to a d20. In-Game Mods: d20 Initiative by Ponsinoumi   External Mods: d20 Initiative by Ponsinoumi changes initiative to a d20, which by itself rebalances the Alert feat. Alternatively Feats Rebalanced by WoolToque has a nerfs only optional file which also makes changes to Sharpshooter, Great Weapon Master, and Tavern Brawler but high dex characters will still win initiative far too frequently with this fix.
Vulnerability It is possible to make enemies vulnerable to lightning, cold, psychic, or piercing damage. With some gimmicks you can also make enemies vulnerable to fire damage. Builds that do outright 2x more damage than they are supposed to be able to do against group of enemies are extremely strong. Oftentimes a little bit of setup is necessary, but doing that little bit of setup and then going all in on your strongest option to do double damage is typically way stronger than other build options. This is especially egregious in Act 3 where you can apply piercing vulnerability with no setup, and a well optimized party can almost all do double damage. -
Duergar Invisibility Technically the problem here extends beyond Duergar. Having a quasit companion (whether through Pact of the Chain Warlock or just through getting permanent access to Shovel) enables the same problem: start every combat while invisible to get a surprise round and thin enemy numbers before they get to go. Duergar just takes this a step further since you have that option on a playable character, letting you do more powerful things while invisible. If you abuse surprise rounds (and unlimited invisibility is the best way to do so) you will make the game significantly easier. -
Arcane Acuity There are two popular builds that use arcane acuity: swords bard and fire sorc. The sords bard + arcane acuity has been addressed because it depends on swords bard’s very strong ranged slashing flourish which warranted its own question. Fire sorc depends on building up arcane acuity through Scorching Ray, which is not on its own overtuned like ranged slashing flourish. With the community not wanting to restrict arcane acuity, that means fire sorc arcane acuity builds (one of the top 3 strongest builds in the game) are totally fine in rebalanced. While these two are the most popular Arcane Acuity builds, other builds are certainly capable of it such as niche thunder acuity builds, thief rogue builds, action surging fighter builds, and more. Arcane acuity needs to be capped at +2 to maintain a semblance of balance. +3 max. If you are consistently going above this, arcane acuity should only be used to cast cantrips with. -
Radiating Orbs The strength of radiating orbs has been undermined by how offensively strong you can be. The best defense is a good offense, and if you can kill or crowd control everyone before they get to go then there is limited need to be defensive. If you implement the BG3Builds Rebalanced rules then radiating orbs will become much, much stronger and may still make encounters much easier. Like arcane acuity, radiating orbs need to be capped at +2 or +3 -
Level 1 Wizard Dip For the most part this is fine in my opinion. The biggest issues come when mixing with Arcane Acuity, but with that off the table there are a few niche spells to be worried about. Such as playing as a full caster class, taking a level in wizard, scribing the Conjure Elemental spell, and using a 6th level slot to buff it into a Myrmidon. -
Ambush Bard Strategy The "Ambush Bard" build is one that probably is only recalled by those who have been on the sub for a while, and kinda didn't want to give up on it. It's somewhat complicated to explain which is a bit of a letdown, however this 3 minute video covers it best. But with Rebalanced in play it can pretty much just run around and cause balance to desert the game. -

Still too easy?

Even with all the above changes and restrictions, those who understand the fundamentals of the game may find BG3 to still be too easy to ensure a challenge. PC users have additional difficulty increasing mods available to them. Most notably Combat extender. While I am a big fan of the default boost to enemy AC, attack roll, saving throws, and damage per attack; I am not a big fan of increasing enemy movement speed or giving some enemies an extra bonus action. And I would actually like to give enemies more health than their default configuration (~40%). But that’s the great thing about the mod. You can change all these little numbers to your liking and they apply to enemies across the game, making the game more challenging. I think that if you go with Combat Extender, d20 initiative, and restrict the mechanics mentioned above then the game finally reaches the challenge many people were hoping for at launch.

Another external mod worth mentioning is Absolute Wrath. It adds random abilities to enemies to make combat a bit more challenging and roguelike all-in-one. If you use this with combat extender, you may want to tone down combat extender from the recommended values.

Unfortunately there do not seem to be any big combat overhaul mods on console yet. One option is to implement an item attunement rule of your own, where you limit yourself to something like as many uncommon items (magic items with a green border) but only up to 3 items of rare or above (blue, purple, or yellow border) per character. Your weapons do not count towards this 3 item limit.

“Rebalanced” and this subreddit

While the goal existed to make “Rebalanced” into a flair, I think given the community’s votes on the topics found in the second table (excluding perhaps the wizard dip) indicates that this wouldn’t change anything. You’d still have fire acuity sorcs. You’d still have radiating orb clerics that win initiative and hit every enemy with a -5 or more to their attack rolls before they even get to go. You’d still have wet+lightning tempest sorcs or Bhaalist Armor + ranged slashing flourish spam. Throwzerker and TB Monks would still exist, just slightly tuned down. So it seems that going through the trouble of implementing a tag or flair is just not worth it.

This post will go into the hall of fame post to provide a reference for the most overpowered mechanics which players should avoid if they want a challenge, and I will update it with mods if people make them to reign some of these mechanics in.

Announcement Hall of Fame Post

This post is to highlight many of the more important posts that have been made on the subreddit since the game released, as well as important outside resources:

Basic Mechanics

Complex/Specific Mechanics

  • The spellcasting modifier a character will use in 95% of cases is covered in the above "Commonly Confused Mechanics" post. But for more nuanced situations see u/EndoQuesion1000's post on Generic Spellcasting Ability

  • DRS

    • Wiki page Note that this page was mostly written by me and is where the term DRS comes from. I only did it to try and reduce the number of posts about it on this sub, and did so using knowledge from the community and a little personal testing around Patch 4 of the game, because I have never tried to exploit this mechanic. Additionally Larian has tried to fix this issue, and some changes may not be documented on this page. This page is a bit out of date, but goes over the basics. Please edit with any corrections if you are confident in them.
    • Prestigious Juice video 1 and video 2 about DRS. Again, these were before Larian made a few patches that in part address the issue, but can help you understand what is going on.
    • RoutineAd3835's post braking down DRS (using some different terminology)
  • Jukervic's analysis of Karmic Dice

  • Captain_ET's Summon Spreadsheet

  • Several experience oddities, some of which can be exploited to get more exp for characters.

Bard why the contempt for glamour bard?

i understand that its not a particularly strong subclass, especially in the face of lore and swords, and anything it can do another subclass can do better, but ive seen so many people say the subclass also sucks to play and isnt fun. ive not played it myself but on paper it looks like a delight. am i missing something?

Build Help 2nd Honor Mode run .. Fun OP subclasses without consumables? No multiclassing

I’m looking for OP mono class builds for my honor run, here’s ones i’ve tried recently to get an idea:

Ones i liked: • Open Hand Monk w Tavern Brawler • Swords Bard w Mystic Scoundrel Ring • Light Cleric w Whispering Promise • Giant Barbarian w great sword not throwing • Storm Sorcerer w chain lightning focus

My favorite was: • Warlock w Hunger of Hadar

I know no multiclassing limits the builds but i prefer creative expression via the equipment and party synergy

i just enjoy Shadowheart being only a cleric and so on

Also i found the ones i mentioned to be OP enough tbh especially OH Monk of course

Build Help Selune Sorcadin Theory-crafting

• Upvotes

So I’m wanting to do a 6 Crown Paladin / 6 Draconic Bloodline Sorcerer (White); for both thematic and gameplay reasons.

This character is also a Selunite so I’m wanting to theme them around radiant damage and/or light motes. Below is the what my character should look like by the end of the game:

Stats:
20 (+2 Mirror, +2 Everlasting Potion)
14
23 (Amulet of Health)
10
10
18 (+1 Mirror)

Gear:
Helm of Balduran
Luminous Armor
Cloak of the Weave
Gloves of Battlemage’s Power
Evasive Shoes

Ring of Arcane Synergy
Callous Glow Ring

Weapon(s):
Selune’s Spear of Night
Hellrider Longbow

Does this look good, or am I missing something obvious?

Party Composition Teambuilding help on a "first playthrough"

• Upvotes

Hello all !

I currently have over 200 hours on BG3 (nothing i know), but i never ever left act 1 yet ! (I also learnt yesterday that there is a Monastery in act 1 and had no clue at all). Regardless, I am here today to ask for your knowledge and help in what could be my smoothest "first" run in the game.

I would like your input on what I can make for my PC and my party to have a balanced experience in the game.

I know that enjoyment comes from doing it all in blind for the first playthrough, but since it's not technically my first playthrough, I am looking for a good "first playthrough" with a balanced team that can be versatile during the whole campaign 😄

The goal

- Being able to go through the acts with a wide variety of spells and whatnot, to be able to deal with any scenarios thrown my way.

The restrictions

- I do have some restrictions on what i want and I will explain it down the post and the best way i can for you all.

Class restrictions

As I want an "easy" run, please do not give me options with multiclassing as I do not want to do that. Only exception would be if you tell me to dip 1-2 levels only in another class.

Teambuilding help :

Main character :
- I wish to be the face of the party (for obvious reasons), that include mostly Sorcerer, Bard or Warlock class (Paladin too (?))

Favorite companions

- Karlach : I like her personnality overall 😄 .

- Astarion : Again, I like his personnality and the sass.

Okayish companions

- Shadowheart : I can deal with her being in my party

- Lae'zel : I dislike her attitude but I do not mind having her in my party.

- Gale : He's fun to be around, I don't mind him.

- Wyll : His class is also good to have, I used to always put him in my party.

Too far in story to even think about having them in my party

- Halsin : I don't really feel like wanting him in my party either ways.

- Minthara : Depending on the playthrough (evil/innocent route), I might not even get her so not really on my sights right now.

- Minsk : Way too far in story for me to take him in consideration.

- Jaheira : Same as minsk.

Class restrictions

- As I said for my PC, I want myself to be a CHA class and to initiate most dialogues during the run.

- For my companions, keeping their classes would be fine (respeccing their subclass is ok), if I am better off getting a companion in the "Okayish" category, that's also fine as long as I have one of the two in the "Favourite companions" as well.

Thanks

I thank you all in advance for reading and trying your best to give me good ideas for a party I would like to spend my playthrough as.

I accept your ideas as long as you give me your thoughts/reasons for why you chose this specific item/class/companion.

I'm happy to answer your questions if I wasn't clear on some aspects of my paragraph.

Also, if you feel like after reading all of that, that there is a website who can help me build parties like this easier, feel free to tell me !

Cheers all 💜

Warlock Wyll builds that make sense (gotta have warlock in them)

Basically does anyone have a build for him that comes online before act 3 (level 4-8) that at least keeps some warlock levels?

I don't like pure 12 warlocks since it's a jack of all trades and never gets a spot in my party. Eldritch blast can't keep up with melee types and archers. They don't get enough spell slots to be a proper full caster and have less utility than wizards, clerics and sorcs.

I also don't wanna do any kind of "stupid headcanon" like he hit his head when getting up from the toilet and became a barbarian or some such.

That being said, while hexblade is not "canon" since his patron is clearly a fiend, he is also the "Blade of the Frontier" and fiend being more casting oriented actually doesn't make sense either and hexblade more fitting I think.

My favorite so far is 4 Swashbuckler / 8 Hexblade. It fits perfect with his lore, does heavy damage. Very solid from level 4. MAD etc.

I also tried warlock 5/paladin 7 but don't like that one since I'm only playing HM. It's meh. I have no issues chugging str elixirs, so I don't see any reason to play that over a pure paladin.

I also don't like fighter 11/hexblade 1 for him since that both steps on Lae'zels toes (shes always the eldritch knight 12 for me) and isn't warlock enough.

Maybe something with bard would work well? Then again more than 1 levels of warlocks starts eating up bards spell slots with not much benefit.. not sure.

Build Help Looking for fun/thematic evil Durge Bard build

Hi all,

I'm playing a half-elf (wood) Durge and I want to go the evil/Slayer route, BUT I also want to play him as more SNEAKILY evil. As a highly charismatic person, my Durge commits his atrocities in more subtle ways while still having positive opinions in public. I unintentionally made him look like Patrick Bateman from American Psycho, so that further encouraged me to lean into this idea.

Bard seems obvious as a core part of a thematic class, using his charisma to get out of trouble, both combat and otherwise, but I'd rather do Lore Bard + something else than a straight up Swords Bard which I used on a companion in a previous run.

Anyone have any fun ideas? It doesn't need to be the absolute best min/maxxed class!

Screen shot of my Tav after he absolutely did not murder any visiting bards in camp: https://imgur.com/a/ulN5TGI

Build Help Sorcerer Attributes

Hey there, for my Cold Draconic Sorcer.

Is it okay to have Wisdom at 8?

So 8str, 16 dex, 15 Con, 8int, 8wis, 17cha

Leaves me with 2 ASI (CON+1 / CHA+1 then Cha+2 + Dual Wielder)

Or is it a better to have 14 con since con proficiency and leave WIS at 10 for saving throws?

I am making builds for potential NPC enemies in the game and assigning them unique gear. So in your opinion which NPC should thematically use this weapon and I can also change their subclass for the thematic build.

Build Help Tryin to amp my SpellBlade build

So I'm still at my first play through. trying to boost my spell-blade build ?(shadow blade/fireblade + boost)

After figuring out how absolute OP sentinel feat was, I tossed away savage attacker, but it left me feeling the need to rearrange to see if getting back the feat would be worth it for costing me my BA from rogue/thief. and it looks like it.
I went from Bard6/wiz3/roque3 to Bard6/wiz4/ X2. roque would still give me a sneak attack as a DRS with additional 1d6 psychic dmg (doubled by resonance stones), and my cunning action dash which i used a lot to make sure to utilize all my attacks

but... paladin 2 level get smite and it make me able to hit caster level 11 for that level 6th spell slot

What can I improve here:

-- edit --
Somebody asked but removed the question, but its valid so im answering

I am assuming there is some specific spell you're trying to scribe from Wizard? I must have missed why there is Wizard levels. I think that is one of the main things hurting the build.

I need Wiz3 or Sorc3 to get access to booming blade and Shadow Blade upcasted version.
I use the mage part for Shield as well for in case defensiveness but becoming constrained now with the sentinel feat since they competed with reaction resource
I also use wizard to I can scribe summons (Ice mephits and water elemental) spell for water/cold/lightning synergy as well as to force attack of opportunity so I can trigger Sentinel feat activation.

In-Game Mods Help me pick a good tanky frontliner build for my challenge run

For context, doing a challenge modded 5 man run with my friends.

The mods we have are:

Tactician enhanced (+200% hp, 1 extra action)

Extra encounters

Nightmare difficulty

Extra enemies in basic encounters

Tasha feats

Fade's AIO equipment

Reduced xp curve

My 5 man group has the following builds:

Wild magic barbarian 2h dps

Fire sorcerer caster DPS

Fighter/ranger dual crossbow crit fisher

Stars druid/cleric pure healer/radiant orbs applier

We are about level 7 right now and I'm currently running a Crown Paladin with heavy armor and shield, focusing on getting my AC as high as possible, stacking damage reduction effects like adamantine armor, heavy armor master, etc

Focusing on taunts (command, champions challenge, etc) and a bunch of thorns effects (holy lance helm, blazing shield,) with the build intending to be tank that pulls all the aggro, wants to be attacked, and keeps the team alive with less healing focus and more of a traditional tank role

As you might imagine, the build doesn't do a lot. I only get one aoe taunt per short rest and even then its usually resisted by half the targets, and even when it succeeds it's not a guarantee they'll attack me. If I'm not getting hit a large portion of my build does nothing, and what's left isn't very useful for how difficult this mod is. Not to mention the build relies on radiant orbs quite a bit, and that gear is reserved for another party member.

So the plan is to fully respec. The problem is I'm not sure what direction to go

I'd like to somehow stay in the "non healer support" role, something that stays in the frontliner role. We have three dedicated damage dealers so I don't need a huge focus on damage. I'd also like to stick to heavy armor, as we already have two unarmored, a light, and a medium wearer.

I'm thinking maybe drop the shield and go two handed or dual wield? Or maybe a warlock dip with a rapier?

Any ideas for a fun strong build would be appreciated! Paladin, wizard, warlock, bard, and monk are the classes no one in the run is using

Wizard Max int possible?

Im doing a full evocation wizard for a magic missile build. Is it possible to get 24 INT or is 23 the hard cap? I've got asi + hair + mirror setting me at 23 int. I was hoping to squeeze it to 24 that way my misses deal +1 more damage because of the int modifier bonus to spells.

Build Help Casters that benefit from advantage a lot?

I want to build a party around BOOOAL's Benediction, and while I know about sneak attack, sharpshooter, and great weapon master benefitting from the advantage, I'm not sure if there's a specific caster that will be specifically be helped by being set up by a tiger barbarian or whatever. There's a modded feat that introduces the same +dmg/-acc mechanic to spells (or just cantrips?) called Spell Savant, but I'd like to know about base game before getting into that.

Build Help Best Paladin build for great weapon master

I’m on my 6th playthrough and never tried a paladin. I’ve tried them before but never found something I liked. Every time I try a build that uses the great weapon master feat I have the hardest time hitting and taking advantage of the extra damage. I’ve also never really used two handed weapons and it seems like there are some great ones worth building around. I’ve been trying a lot of guides but nothing has stuck with me. Meanwhile I have an arcane archer in my party doing insane damage with sharpshooter and titanstring.

My current build is 2 vengeance paladin and 6 bard for the extra spell slots. I have GWM as my feat and currently 19 STR. I’m using unseen menace which gives advantage on attacks with it. I’m wearing luminous armor and gloves to proc radiant orb on radiant damage and using divine strike as much as possible.

I’m pretty much open to anything that consistently does solid melee damage and can last through 3 short rests (meaning it doesn’t burn through all its spell slots on the first battle).

So give me your favorite paladin builds!

I've wanted to do a playthrough where I do all the "bad" decisions, but for some reason other than just your basic embrace Durge, so I came up with the idea of a githyanki who is very much in the favor of githyanki supremacy and war crimes, but is a little more into thinking for themselves and discovering new things than most. They were a hr'a'cknir before they were taken (non-military support staff, skilled artisans), maybe a ghustil specifically, with the Guild Artisan background. While before they were taken they toed the line, but once put into the control of their own destiny they're pretty open to doing taboo things/playing the long game just in case they discover something new that will help them get ahead, but at the still time still very arrogant and superior.

I'm just not sure which subclass is the most balanced between lore appropriate and being able to do what I need, because this is going to require a LOT of charisma checks. I'm open to using mod.io to get more 5e or 5.5e class options but I'm not interested in original ones. Going to have Lae'zel, DJ Shadowheart, Ascended Astarion, and God Gale in my party, pretty much doing their traditional canon combat roles (not necessarily canon classes), though Lae'zel is going to be a tiger barbarian so I can make good use of getting BOOOAL's Benediction.

Multiclassing is fine, but I prefer mono or "true" multiclasses, not stuff like the ubiquitous paladin/hexblade dip. One class exception: no cleric, since there are no true githyanki clerics. Ghustil are psionic healers, not divine ones.

Fighter Fighter party face

I know there's plenty of ways to party face as classes with naturally good charisma but I'm a sucker for playing fighters. Is there a decent way to face as a fighter? i was able to comfortably get 14 charisma but is there any way to get proficiency or expertise in charisma skills as a fighter or do I have to dip another class to get that? if so what's the best dip that is either only one level or actually adds something useful to a fighter.

Build Help Build for my RP character?

The character I have in mind is a Seldarine Drow that deceives or intimidate people to win or gain an advantage in general so that means I would want a build that is high in Charisma.

What I had in mind is a 10 Swords Bard / 2 Hexblade for the flourishes and charisma based attack. From basically what I have seen, the majority of players that uses Swords Bard is for the Slashing Flourishes Range attack not for the melee version but I don't want archery for this character and I only want to use one hand, or dual wield with sometimes magic on the side. The other variation I also see a lot would be 10 Swords Bard / 2 Paladin for smites but I also don't like that my spells are basically more melee and I don't want Paladin for this character.

Sorry if I'm picky for the build I'm going for but I'm not an expert at this so any help would be greatly appreciated.

External Mods Modded BG3 playthrough with rolled stats, what build works for these?

Playing BG3 in Honour Mode with my friends, we are at level 5 now. We rolled our stats. You could roll as many dice as you wanted per stat and take the highest, but if you rolled a nat 1 it would be forced on that stat. I got unlucky.

My stats: Str 11, Dex 1, Con 16, Int 1, Wis 20, Cha 18.

Dex 1 gives me a minus 5 on AC, so I need heavy armor or Gloves of Dexterity. I’m a Paladin right now and my Strength is bad, so I hit about 50% of the time or less and my melee hits do under 10 damage. I’m not pulling my weight, basically just a meat shield.

The rest of the party are: arcane archer ranger, a barbarian, and a necromancer wizard.

I’m open to any class or multiclass. I’ve thought about a Hexblade dip so I can use Cha for attacks. What would help my team the most with stats like these? We’d rather not rely on Hill Giant Strength elixirs for the whole build.

Thanks for any advice.

Build Help Talk me through druid spell list

I've ran star druid, land and moon. I've tried base game version, version with 5e spells and nexus land druid and all sorts. Even with all the things I've tried, if I'm going druid it's to wildshape. I'm just not keen on druid spell list.

Talk me through some of it. I know some spells like spike growth and heat metal can pop off but so many spells are save or suck or are concentration.

Build Help Monk stats?

I’m thinking of switching to a monk. I don’t really care about my build being meta or op, I just don’t want it to be ass. I’m feeling like going for way of the four elements, but I’m also pretty new. Am I able to use weapons with it? I’m looking at the wiki which doesn’t recommend investing in strength, and I saw a Remus video where they were dual wielding as a monk. What stat spread would you guys recommend?

Barbarian Tiger Barb / Champion with Trident of the Waves deals 300 damage per attack

9 Tiger Barb for Brutal Critical / 3 Champion for more crits

Half Orc for Savage Attacks

Trident of the Waves make enemies you hit wet, doubling cold and lightning damage. TotW is supposed to deal 1d4 cold damage but it's bugged, you can easily fix it by giving it to a hireling, send them back to Withers and hire them again, they'll spawn back with the fixed Trident. Or just use the item & spell bug fixes mod but you don't have to

Add more lightning/cold dmg with the Drakethroat Glaive/Flail of Ages and that becomes 2d4 that gets doubled every time

It goes from 2-8 more damage to 6-24 when cleaving 3 enemies, vulnerability make it 12-48 and it can and will go even higher due to your very high crit chance and that's ONLY from your 2d4 elemental damage.

Tridents deal piercing damage so it's doubled with Bhaalist Armor

Feats: GWM & Savage Attacker. You'll be rolling soooo many dices at once so Savage Attacker is mandatory.

If you start at 17 STR you can get it to 18 with Ethel's hair, 20 with Araj's potion and 22 with the Mirror of Loss. You could also use elixirs obviously, it's even more damage, but I personally don't like it and you can't use Bloodlust Elixirs

Elixir of Bloodlust, Action Surge, Bonus Attack from GWM, you can basically win every encounter by yourself

Equipment:

Sarevok Helmet and Deadshot to reduce crit threshold

Bhaalist Armor (If too OP for you you can use Bonespike Garb it's still very strong)

Craterflesh Gloves

Any boots that prevent slipping on ice/surfaces, Hoarfrost or Nightwalkers will do

Fleshmelter Cloak or Cloak of Displacement

Amulet Options:

  • Broodmother's Revenge for 1d6 (2d6) poison damage when paired with Ring of Regeneration
  • Amulet of Greater Health if you want to be much tankier. Pair well with Bonespike Garb and Fleshmelter Cloak. Respec and dump CON when you get it
  • Surgeon's Subjugation Amulet for a free hold person after a crit per long rest

Rings options:

  • Ring of Regeneration if you use Broodmother's Revenge
  • Caustic Band or Callous Glow Ring for 2 more damage (keep in mind the damage is a fixed number so it won't be increased by critical hits, but it's the only 2 rings that deal direct damage)
  • Risky Ring gives permanent advantage so increases crit chances, can feel redundant with Reckless Attack tho
  • Crusher's Ring for more movement
  • Killer's Sweetheart for 1 free crit per long rest, pair well with Surgeon's amulet, unequip both after use

Enjoy being the Bitch Queen's version of Thanos

Hey there

I cant decide how to go with Shadowheart on my next run.

Either go full 12 EK and do a throwing build with Shar Spear or 12 Way of the Shadow with moderatly armoured to use the DJ armour pieces.

Way of the Shadow suits her thematicly but I dont know about EK

Build Help Ancient Palladin / Warlock Archfey advise?

Basically, what the title says. I saw this combination somewhere in the comments and really liked the idea, but I don’t know how to get the best out of it
