Discussion PVE Mode as a timed map event instead?

• Upvotes

Though i’m not someone who pvp’s regularly(unless im forced to) i don’t agree with a full time pve mode either, half the magic of Arc Raiders is the uncertainty, though its SO frustrating to be ratted and betrayed, the rush of escaping a player and or arc and making it to the extract in the nick of time is what this game does so well, i would like to see pve implemented in some way like the other map map modes do with night raids etc so we can all experience it and get things done, but still have the core game be what it is.

just my 2 cents on the whole thing!

Discussion Would PVE be better as a rotating map condition?

• Upvotes

I think PVE has it's place in Arc Raiders as a lot of the robots themselves are very satisfying to fight but I think just adding a toggle/mode takes away too much from the sense of risk and progression.

Looking at the Frigate as a good example of what a rotational PVE condition could be like, in the sense that it's a optional map condition where the game encourages you to tackle an objective/loot together with others. Further events like this but with the PVP disabled would be more interesting, essentially like a raid from your typical MMO. Obviously Frigate has some issues with people going in with nothing just to loot but that's a different can of worms.

I like the sense of teamwork that comes with meeting people you have to build trust with and while PVE toggle is nice to just grab loot or do a quest while chilling, it removes that 'edge' that the core game has. I get that some people compare this PVE to the Tarkov PVE but fundamentally these two games work differently, especially as Tarkov does not try to encourage working together with strangers nearly as much as Arc Raiders does.

Discussion Bull rush needs stamina drain

• Upvotes

We nerfed fumes, but a bull rush kid can spam it infinitely to knock you off loot, and push you off high places?

It needs to drain like a skill bar and needs to take time to rebuild back up, 1 bull rush, entire stamina drained and you have to wait until out of exhaustion to reuse it, same with stims and fumes. They shouldn't be able to infinitely knock you off loot, or make you stumble off a tall building, including your own teammates. Bull rush should especially not work on teammates, and if you're going to keep blaze grenades working on everyone (minus pve), you might as well add explosive damage, if you really want to rat a teammate it's so easy, shredder hit, 1 blaze, 2 when downed..

Armed with only a camera, I found a leaper trapped in a room from which he could not escape. Having absolutely nothing on me aside from the camera and being almost dead I decided to go into the leaper room and just spam the camera as fast as I could until I died. This was the last thing my raider saw before he saw nothing no more

Discussion When Everything Falls Quest Help!

• Upvotes

So, I decided to try the PvE mode, and I am doing the When Everything Falls quest.

I am at the part where I need to photograph Port A, but every time I take a photograph of it, it doesn't register that I took a photo for the quest.

I've taken 100+ photos, but none of them have been good enough to register for the quest. Does anyone have any suggestions or tips for this part?

He placed a pulse mine at the top of the tower and made me fall. I knew what he was trying to do but wasn’t 100% sure about his intentions.
I kept talking to him on my way to the hatch. Once I called him out, he got mad so easily I think I hurt his fragile ego when I asked “Do you want my loot?”

Discussion This update is giving me alot of fomo 😔

• Upvotes

This update is giving me alot of fomo 😔

First off, this isn't a hate post, this update is fucking amazing.

But as a pvp player, the emperor and the arc frigate genuinely seem IMPOSSIBLE.

I watched Aimkeys video of him and his other two freinds doing the arc frigate and it genuinely looks like the most difficult thing ive ever seen someone do in a video game. Period. They fight hundreds of difficult arc, while also fighting actual players.

It was such a ridiculously fun video to watch, but its also giving me crazy fomo, well I dunno if fomo is the right word.

But it just feels like:

I will NEVER be able to complete the arc frigate. Ever. I have 200 on this game and I belive even if I put in 500 I would still never be able to do it.

Especially sense im SOLO. Wich isn't really a problem, I should probably just try to find a team to play with.

But still, this is ABSURDLY hard. And I NEED to complete it to get research station level 4.

Discussion People Hating PVE For Hate’s Sake

• Upvotes

I love this game, first and foremost. I’ve had some major highs with it and some insanely major lows where I quit for a few months. Purely because the experience with other players put a damper on it. I enjoy the grinding, scavenging for loot and gear, getting out with some good stuff and building a vast stash. But when trying to partake in shit like Matriarch, or Harvester would always make for a miserable experience. Me and a friend grinded for some good loot and kit to tackle these modes with the intent of fulfilling the objective and trying to get the score. We had a particular experience on Dam Harvester, where we had Equalizer’s, Hullcracker’s, medium shield and spare, wolfpacks, photo electric cloaks, reams of ammo to focus on the Queen and not players. We ended up getting jumped on by a couple of freebie ass fucks, there goes over 100k of gear and the hours we spent getting to that point because some freebies wanted to rat.

Now I understand it can be classed as “part of the experience” but still, I fucking hate that. I am all for PVP, fighting other raiders because especially if you play Duos or Trios it’s going to be a 99% PVP-based lobby, people shoot on site. I am all for that engagement, if I lose the fight I lose, if I win, I win. But the more larger-scale engagement modes are just an absolute shambles to engage with because of other players.

I can count on one hand the lobbies I’ve had where either a Harvester or Matriarch people have worked together and not ratted and I’ve put almost 500 hours into the game.

Enter, the PVE toggle BETA. It’s a mode I’ve absolutely been an advocate for because I want to engage with other players without violence. Being able to tackle a Harvester or Matriarch with everyone else who’s partaking all working together for the ultimate goal. Which feels more true to the world of Arc as ultimately the real enemy SHOULD be the Arc, given the circumstances. If I am not fortunate enough to score the golden loot from these big fucks on a game, so be it - I can load into another one and try again. At least I can keep trying and have a higher chance of scoring something because I know I won’t be ratted by other scumbag players, than if I went into it normally, with a much, much higher chance of it all being squandered either in an instant or after pouring time into the event.

I’ve had some incredible interactions with people on PVE, players working together to tackle bigger Arc and getting their share of the loot from them. If I wasn’t quick enough to scoop the goop, I can just wait for another to drop or head into the next game. There is always the next game, where I don’t have to worry about rats. Hell, even if I didn’t get any loot for the following 6 games (from my current experience it’s extremely unlikely), I’ve still got a better chance than I do in a normal lobby and I’ll keep going.

If there are dickhead players bumping you off extraction in Pendola on PVE, or blocking you in storm huts. Fuck them. Don’t let it bother you too much because either you’ll find a way around their rat ways, or there is always the next games. Chances are you could score even better loot on subsequent games, than in those where dickheads tried ruining your fun. Every game is going to have assholes who grief because the sad reality is there are assholes out there. But at least with PVE there is always the next games where the players you meet will engage, work with and celebrate with you, which is the experience I’ve had and the engagement I’ve longed for. A player busting out his Harmonica while I dance over a Bombardier’s corpse? Priceless.

With all that said, I’m also still willing to toggle PVE off and engage with players in violent fashion. Who’s got the better weapons? Who has the better reaction, coordination, and can come out on top when the odds are initially and potentially stacked against you? I am ALL FOR THAT. And if I enter a PVP lobby where people instead choose to not engage with guns and instead with heart, I’ll hold that experience close to me.

But giving people the option to choose whether to engage with players or not, is not something to hate. Because you toggle PVE off, that original, intended experience is still there. You might encounter friendlies, you might encounter hostile. You might get out alive, you might not.

If you toggle PVE on, you might encounter friendly guys, you might encounter people focused on the score and getting the loot, you may also encounter people who try to ruin your match. But there’s always the following games with little to no risk of you being ratted, with opportunities the “standard” mode doesn’t fully allow for.

It’s a win/win situation and I honestly believe if you hate on the BETA (because remember, for now, it is just a BETA and not permanent), you’re hating for the sake of hating it.

I hope they make it permanent. Thanks Embark for giving me some of the best experiences on this game on 2 hours of PVE, which rival some of the best experiences I’ve had in the over 400 hours I’ve had to date. Thank you.

Discussion PvE with other players isn’t really PvE... (it’s PvPvE without the gunshots)

• Upvotes

When Embark announced a PvE mode, I thought it would be for solo players who just want to explore a more peaceful lobby without PvP. But after a while, I realized it’s actually PvE with other players as well, which honestly made it worse for me.

I’m not against PvP at all, but sometimes, for mental/psychological reasons, I found it nice to focus more on PvE in a Blue Gate, for example. It was almost like a form of meditation for me. Just being able to take things at my own pace, explore, kill some Arcs, and not constantly worry about another player showing up and turning it into a fight.

I had imagined a PvE mode where you’re completely alone in your own world (or just with your own squad). That way, you can simply do your own thing, chill, kill some Arcs, and even test out how to kill a new Arc, for example. That would be much more appealing to me than having other players around who can potentially just steal your loot.

PvE might seem like a peaceful solution for people who want that kind of experience, but griefing/stealing/trolling is, and probably always will be, a part of online gaming. And I can already see exactly how this would play out.

If I kill anything, you already know freebees are going to rush over and try to loot it as quickly as possible because, well, I can’t kill them anyway. And people these days are such low-level trolls that they’ll probably even trying to ragebait over proximity chat like, “HAHAHA, I got your loot and you can’t kill me, lolol, f*ck you.”

That shit will absolutely happen. Because honestly, a PvE mode like this isn’t really PvE. It’s still PvP, just without the gunshots. Makes sense?

So even though I think a PvE mode is a good idea, I do think the execution is a bit questionable. Personally, I’d rather see a PvE mode that is strictly solo or co-op. That way, you also keep the regular PvPvE lobbies more alive, while people who genuinely want a pure PvE experience can have exactly that.

Right now, it feels like they’re trying to find some kind of middle ground between PvP and PvPvE, but I’m not sure that middle ground actually exists. (Considering a solo PvE or co-op mode isn’t middle ground)

Just my take, though. Open to discussion..

Question Overheating problem on Xbox?

• Upvotes

Wondering if anybody else experienced this. Since the last update, my Xbox Series X shut down due to overheating a few times, always during the animation to load into a match.

This never happened before, not in ARC Raiders, nor other games. Its in a well ventilated spot too.

You can now get to the very top of pilgrims peak tower with the grapple hook. Not sure if there always been ways like with snap hook but I don’t think there has. I’d be pretty happy to be the first to do this lol. I discovered this because I was doing the osprey amplified research challenge that requires you to come here and deal damage to ARC. I had a grapple hook on me and got curious, made it to the top. Very nice up there.

P.s if you do this, shooting a bombadier 5 miles away will still cause it to shoot rockets at you, the rockets take a few business days to arrive but they are indeed on the way.

Discussion PvE as Rotating Map Condition? Thoughts?

• Upvotes

I feel like making PvE a rotating map condition, maybe always active on 2-3 maps (including sometimes Queen/Matriarch and Frigate) would be a better approach. It would restrict players from always playing pure PvE and encourage PvEvP, while still allowing an option for pure PvE. Explanation on why below:

I’m mostly a PvE player. I do love the new PvE mode for casually completing quests and testing out the new amplified weapons without fear of losing them.

However, what I’ve noticed after several hours of playing is that loot goblins are a huge issue. In pure PvE there’s really no way to stop players from being toxic and stealing your arc or loot rooms. Theres no consequence for being toxic now, and I think we’ll see many players taking advantage of this.

My main fear is that most of the “care bear” lobbies will just switch to PvE mode and you’ll either be forced to play full PvE with loot goblin rats or play in actual PvP lobbies. I feel like restricting pure PvE mode to a rotating map condition (on top of other conditions), would help prevent this. Thoughts?

Discussion Unpopular Opinion: Loot should be worse in PvE mode.

• Upvotes

I played the PvE mode, and I took a lot of fun of it, for some hours. And that’s where I missed the core mechanic which the game relied upon, trust.

Now we have a lot of people just looting and running, they don’t even help you anymore, and in the other hand we got a Deathmatch mode.

Don’t get me wrong, I support the PvE, but I still believe the PvPvE is the core mechanic. So, what I propose is tier the loot based in which mode you’re on.

So new and more casual players, still can have a safe place to learn the mechanics and the gameplay cycle. However you’ll be limited by content in the PvE.

In this proposition, better and exclusive rewards would only be available in PvPvE mode. You can add a Tier to items or lock the level progression.

So everyone who really wants the core gameplay would still have a reason to do so. And the PvE would function as a tutorial with a lot o content, otherwise when you feel ready for the full experience, you can still go where the really stuff happens.

You guys ain’t got to agree with me, just keep it classy and think about it. I just want to start a conversation.

Discussion Embark this is your game.

• Upvotes

I have been jerked enough to feel the need to write this out into the void.

I have very very fond memories of tech test 2 and the early days of arc raiders on release. This game demands tension, without tension its a sandbox experience with no real economy or risk, i have played one session on pve and my inventory would make jeff bezos weep with envy, its so easy.

Pve breaks this game, the current abmm breaks this game, stop trying so hard to please everyone and stick with your vision, my fear is the current player numbers will impress the suits and all of a sudden we have my little pony supermarket looter edition.

Relax the abmm, dont introduce pve unless you literally want a destiny 2 style story and raid system and lean in harder on what made this game special.

If you really want to make a pve mode, it atleast has to be so hard and scary, people still fear taking legendary weapons and gear, the frigate would be a current good example, genuine threat to life.

My two cents.

Im now going to pvp because i have no space in my inventory.

Question I just built the outpost, Embark, is this really the best spot you could find to put the Raider?

• Upvotes

I have not seen worse lighting in my many years of gaming. This is the spot and lighting you chose to showcase our raider? I understand bad lighting with dynamic position and lighting, but this is a static spot and this is your creative vision?

I want to go back to my raider den, this is terrible. At least let me pick where my raider stands if your creative division has not clue about lighting...

And yes, I'm sorry there is yet another complaint, I rarely complain about the game but this....

For context I don't play this game, I just watch streamers. But wtf man, before this big patch it was pretty much just anvil and bobcat and big balance patch and its still just the same lol.

Like how do they make such a big balance patch and still the gun meta is still completely unchanged?

What the heck are these balance devs doing exactly?
