Question Why?

The porch is not far away from the vehicle they say it on, as you can see.

Why risk the package/contents being damaged by the constant rain that we have been having for about 36hrs now OR an animal (happened many times previously)? No dogs roaming at time of delivery, so no excuse there

I could see “efficiency” …hop out, hop back in truck BUT, what about QUALITY and CYA (cover your ass, from complaints and damages, etc that could “ding” you as a driver?)

Question Why are there still so many Flex drivers?

As a former Flex driver myself it’s confusing why so many still do it. Ever since the switch to SSD Amazon has decided to create routes with excessive mileage. It has been years now so the only explanation is that it’s to exploit independent contractors/gig workers. Sending drivers 30+ miles to their first stop is unnecessary. They say it’s because of stock in each warehouse. If this was true they would have made adjustments to where items are warehoused. Since it has been years with no change it’s obviously not true that it’s due to stock. The dollars to miles used to be the highest with flex but now it’s the worst by far. With so many options available I just can’t wrap my head around why people still choose Flex. Help me out here.

Edit: This was made in reference to the market I work in. Southern California, specifically Orange, LA and Riverside Counties.

Question What are the rules on children delivering packages (yes, this is a real question)?

I am just a normal and occasional Amazon user. Today, about 30 minutes ago, I received notice someone was at my door and more importantly, someone set my vehicle alarm off. I review the camera footage, and I see a child, about 10 years of age, drop off my package on the front porch and took off running, and smacked right into my brand new vehicle, driver side mirror. She appeared to be okay. I hear the driver (assuming it’s the parent) yell “get up and come on”… then, the kid gets up, brushes her knee off and proceeds to get in the back seat and they take off. I am not at home, so cannot verify damage to my vehicle yet.

I looked at the delivery confirmation picture and it is from the end of my driveway, zoomed in, so the driver was the one with the access.

Is this against policy? For flex drivers, who is the responsibility management to discuss if damage occurred to my vehicle.

Thanks,

Question WTF!

I just got hit with an Amazon Flex deactivation for “entering a customer’s home.” Total lie. I’ve delivered with Flex since 2016 and have never stepped inside anyone’s house. Whoever reported this is flat-out making stuff up and messing with my income.

Anyone else had a bogus report like this? How did you get it cleared?

Question ID Newly Required at SSD

The warehouse I primarily work out of started doing this yesterday, and I’m just wondering if it’s everywhere or just here.

This isn’t the scanning the back of the license, we have the NFC stands for check-in. This is after getting the cart, the security guard is now checking our IDs instead of relying on the photo in the app. I assume this is an attempt to prevent account sharing, but just wondering how widespread it is.

Question First time refusing an block

Post image
1 Upvotes

First time ever refusing an Amazon Flex route.
Had a 5:15 PM block today 3.5 hours for $94.

Guess what? First stop was 60 MILES AWAY, in another state, and the whole route was only 7 packages 💀
I didn’t even scan the route. There was absolutely no way I was driving 60 miles just to START delivering for $94.
I’ve never refused a route before, so for anyone who has done it: what happened afterward? Did it hit your standing pretty hard? Should I expect a big issue/report from Amazon?
Because that route was insane 😂

Question Should I report if my package is delivered by a different driver?

As a customer, I had an order to be delivered yesterday. It seemed like a Flex delivery and I could see in the Amazon app who the driver was with a name and picture and the driver’s location. When the car pulled up, the only one in the car was a completely different person that was driving and got out and left the package.

I haven’t driven Flex, but I’ve done all the other driver gig services, and that’s always a pretty clear indication that someone’s letting someone else use their account or they got their account hijacked. This of course hurts the legitimate drivers who have to go through the background checks and all of the other hoops to work legitimately.

Is this something I need to report or is there a plausible explanation? With Flex, is there ever a case where a driver is reassigned but it still shows the old driver? If I should report it, what’s the best way to do that?

Question Wife had accident while Amazoning, anyone had any luck getting their vehicle fixed by Amazon?

Quick story, yesterday morning my wife was involved in a minor vehicle accident with another party. She had just picked up her route, got about 3 minutes from the warehouse, and the accident occurred. Truly unsure who was at fault because of conflicting stories but I guess that’s not important. Other party was very insistent about handling this without any cops involved (I know, I already told my wife this was foolish on her behalf), so there is no police report, and upon calling the police dept it’s too late to get a report anyways. Both parties exchanged information and a couple hours later my wife got a call, from OUR ins co. The other party called OUR ins! Our ins knew my wife was running an Amazon route because the other party told the ins (wife got out of her car with vest on). Wife has full coverage but we are unsure if our ins will cover damages to wife’s car because we do not have the commercial portion of insurance.

We found out Amazon has ins for these types of situations. First off, has anyone here ever had an experience dealing with the insurance portion through Amazon to get their vehicle repaired? Second, will they deactivate her for this?

Thanks and I look forward to your replies.

Question For people who “Always deliver and don’t return packages” how often do you get dinged/in trouble? Had to do it for the first time tonight outside an office. A homeless person was sleep like a few suites over.

Tonight was just horrible overall. No apartment gate codes, rain, dark. So I just left it at the office door and went on with my deliveries

Question Gun incident…

I had an incident with a customer and them firing a gun this morning. Asked support about the smile light so that I can feel safer about delivering when it’s still dark and they wouldn’t offer me a code to get it. What do you have to do to get the light? I know they have to email you but do I have to make so many deliveries or be at a certain level to qualify? I’ll probably just buy one but since they have the free offer I would rather try that first.

Details of what happened:
I was already back in my vehicle and slowly leaving his driveway when I noticed him standing on the porch (next to the package I just delivered…) I figured he was grabbing the package and gave him a friendly wave. He might not of seen me because it was still dark @ 7am. As I was slowly driving away I hear a very loud bang. Almost like a canon. And when I looked back I could see him just standing there in the same spot and what looked like smoke near him. I was kinda in denial and thought it was a firework or something. I just kept driving and headed to my next stop down the road at a gas station. As I’m grabbing my next package, someone pulled up next to me driving in fast and said “Holy shit, I didn’t know you guys deliver so early” me being so focused on my delivery just figured it was the next customer because the gas station had an apartment attached to it. I’m still new so I was having trouble scanning the package. After he keeps talking I realize he’s the dude from down the road and he admits to me he fired his shotgun into the field. He apologized a bunch but I still reported him to Amazon and the police. I get the sign sounds silly to some but I definitely think having a light on my vehicle would have prevented that specific situation from happening. I can’t believe Amazon is offering 3am shifts and not automatically offering this to people or requiring it for the safety of their workers.

Question Can I Keep Them?

Post image

This is like the 4th or 5th time I've had packages in my cart that weren't on my route. I don't get the message to return them. And this facility is all the way across town that I don't go to often. I'll probably return them eventually when I get a block down there but otherwise this is where they'll sit. What would you do?

Question What a joke

Post image

It’s fucking crazy that Sundays are literally the ONLY day I can grab a 3.5 hour block for $122.

Which just proves they COULD offer blocks at those rates the rest of the week they just don’t fucking want to. Meanwhile, I’m out here having to take 3.5 hour blocks for $94 during the week. What a fucking joke.

Question Loss prevention called me for not delivering or returning 38 packages. Am I going to jail?

My block was last week and they called me yesterday about returning the packages.

Update: I returned them to the station. No police here. No major commotion. Just asked why I didn’t return them the next day and to sign the returns under my name.

Now to return the fresh deliveries from last week.

Edit: How are y’all getting that I’m 30? Please, someone show their math.

Question Amazon Deliveries Now Being Dropped By The Road

Thumbnail

This started a few months ago. Driveway is ~200' long. Have a No Trespassing sign but deliveries okay. Plenty of room to turnaround. We have a dog but she is either always inside or on a leash outside if we're expecting a delivery. Some drivers will park at the end of the driveway and walk all the way down. Delivery instructions in app request delivery to the door. Are we doing something wrong?

Question SSD drivers: How do you do it?

After exclusively taking logistics blocks from dotcom stations for years, I recently began taking blocks from a newly-opened SSD. My question is this: How do you load packages from the parking lot in the rain without all your packages getting soaked? Is there some simple solution to this problem that I just haven't figured out yet?

Question Do you put any signs in your car to identify yourself as a delivery driver?

I'm wondering if it is a good idea to put a sign in the dashboard and/or back of the car to mentioning that the car is delivering packages, in a way to friendly mention to parking inforcement agents or residents that I'm parked there only to deliver packages.

This is not to justify any wrong parking, but only to avoid any possible issues.

Does anyone already do this?

I was supposed to do a Whole Foods route on June 7th 2026 at 10:00-11pm and June 27th at 9:30-10:30pm. That Whole Foods location closes at 9pm daily. First time I get there the inside lights were off and no employees inside, doors were locked, so I called support and reported this as why I couldn’t do the route. Second time I got there the one person I saw wouldn’t let me in after showing him my phone showing my pickup, wearing my vest, and yelling through the door I was picking up a delivery. Called support again and told them the employee wouldn’t let me in and told them the store closes at 9pm. Well July rolls around and yeah I got the failure to pick up ToS violation showing 2 orders not picked up. Appealed and it got fixed so my standing went back up. Later on August 3rd I guess the automated system or something did something and reversed that so my standing went back down. Called and appealed again and even the guy on the phone said it was weird it went back down after being appealed. Got an email saying my appeal was denied. Then later on August 13th my standing went down AGAIN the same amount as the first time and when it got reversed for the same date listed. It did show the violations in yellow at first, now they’re red. Has anyone’s standing been affected twice by the same issue? And what can I do about it?
Edit: screenshots are a little old, I took them in August when this happened.

I’m just curious if the going rate is equal to or similar to what other people get in different areas or if the total has to do with other factors. This is in the downtown SLC area. And would you accept this offer?
