What's going on with youtube content creators of late? Have they become so lazy, physically and creatively, they can no longer make a decent thumbnail? . Cartoon-ish backgrounds and people, overly saturated dark colors, fat letterings that almost 3d like, characters rendered so bad, even the content creators don't look like themselves. They look almost like disney cartoon characters, always pose with their angry expressions or bigger than life smiles. And for the ones that may look like the creators, the rendering is still cartoon like and makes them look younger and/or slimmer. It's so fake looking. Sad how youtubers have become even more lazy.

i’ve noticed another way to spot if someone ai generated their script, aside from the obvious points like the unbelievably generic points they make. ZERO specific examples if the video essay is on a niche topic.

theres ZERO passion in the person reading the script because of course there isnt, they didnt write a word of it so they dont have the capacity to emphasise anything they’re reading because they’re reading it for the first time alongside us.

the constant analogies for things that dont need them at all, like why?? there’s no way real human beings watch some of this slop??

This is so so disgusting and awful, and as a teenager I was in a very precarious situation and this could have literally been a threat to my life back then. Please please please be careful, DELETE the tracker from your links. It starts with ?, so delete the ? and everything after it.

There is a code for eating disorder content on YT to evade automatic detection, and it's ⭐️🪽 or written out as "star wing". Now, I learned this a while ago but didn't search it up for myself until just now.

The videos that came up are concerning, to say the least. I took some screenshots and attached them to this post. All the videos I've seen involve K-pop idols since ED is a big issue in that culture, but I bet there's more and I only scratched the surface.

Is there ANY way to get this info to someone at YouTube who can take action? I understand that big corporations don't seem to have our interests at heart these days, but I want to at least try. It's heartbreaking to know that people—especially kids—are being exposed to such dangerous and potentially fatal content.

So just to make it clear, Im not talking about the slop tubers who go all in and use ai for the script, the voice over thumbnail and all. Im talking about the normal commentary youtubers that make it seem like their videos are genuine commentary and opinions that they have and are are presenting to you.
For the past half year or so, I noticed that so many youtubers I watch have started using AI in their scripts. I watch a lot of long-form content, video essays, people dissecting certain internet drama that Ive never heard of, that kind of stuff, and its SO SO easy to catch when you know what you are looking for.
The number of times Ive heard the sentence structure of
"It wasnt just X, it was Y"
"Not with X, not with Y, but Z"
This along with very metaphorical terms that you usually wouldnt use that often in a script

I dont know exactly what the process is, but my guess would be that they either write the script and then get AI to refine it / or they get AI to write it and then re-write it to make it sound more human. Or a mix of both Im not sure.

Here is an example of what I mean, just listen to the first few minutes of the introduction, it is very obvious. Id give more examples but I dont remember all the specific channels but it happens A LOT, this is just the latest one I started watching recently and then caught it after a few videos.

I think its just a bit of a shame because especially in the long-form-content space, it really obliterates the uniqueness of each persons way of dissecting a situation and presenting it to the audience through the creators understanding. It also just makes the only difference between channels the voice of the creator but not the writing. Just a bit of a shame.

The watch history bar now has AI generated labels. They are not organizing sh*t because the generated names are not accurate to the videos, now both the music and the YouTube videos I watch are all in one section so that sucks because it's not separated anymore. And there is a button that says "Hide topics" but it still doesn't hide the topics. Can anyone help me fix this?

Today, I went to put on my favorite millennial punk rock playlist from the early 2000s and I was met with a political survey asking which party I’d vote for. Fuck you. Fuck your political ad money. Fuck your CEOs and fuck your entire existence. You are nothing more than greedy capitalist slaves, lapping up the public’s interest, more-so for profit now than ever before.

My YouTube account primarily focuses on music, frequency sounds, essays about comics gaming and movies. I go out of my way to not engage in political topics, as for comics and gaming the focus is about artist techniques or how to beat old ps2 games. Everything on those topics are for gen x Gen-X era of nerdom, and my spiritual or frequency videos is geared towards mindfulness and inner knowing.

Out of the blue I have been getting political ads and recommendations of provocative influencers who frankly promote trash and division. When I try to block or click do not recommend channels, many times I just get the option of “report” channel and when I go to these toxic profile to block them I don’t see an option for that other than then “follow” page.

How do I get my neutral account back and stop this nonsense?

The Apple podcast app has a convenient 15 sec rewind button prominently displayed in its app, and I use it all…the…time to catch bits of conversation I missed on the first pass. Does the YT app have a feature like this I can turn on? I didn’t see it, but might have missed something. Trying to move the little slider back a few seconds does not cut it on my iPhone — usually I way overshoot the mark.

so, over the last couple months, I've observed the playlist system, specifically the drag/drop aka move feature in playlists seems to be getting..worse.

as in long pressing and dragging a video's hamburger icon...seems to either A, cause it to act like I'm trying to swipe to delete, or B, immediately launches into a video.

I first observed this issue on my iphone se 3rd gen, whilst running ios 26, months ago, then within a week, saw this on my iphone 14 plus.

ok, figure it'll do the same so I dont bother trying to argue with the app on the ipad, and go to the safari browser..which works for a month, then becomes so unstable its not funny.

now, after almost two months using my samsung galaxy a17, the hamburger drag/drop icon on every video in the playlist is doing the same.

so..dear fellow redditors, understanding that I've already tried troubleshooting, and am not here for such...I pose the following question to you all.

....am I losing my mind, or is the playlist drag/drop function essentially useless now?

If it doesn't work, you need this extension. I guess this is because YouTube only chooses specific people for early access

I recently got the functionality to comment GIFs in youtube comments, so I tried it, I didnt expected anything, my comment got 2.5k likes ( probably more since last time I checked), and got arround 50 subscribers. I don't know what to do about it, I didn't really earned these subscribers, but i can't tell them to unsubscribe,that would be dumb, what would you think in my situation

Kinda going crazy with the amount of bugs and errors I'm getting from YouTube lately... but this one takes the cake! This is a new error that just started this morning for me. I am signed into my Gmail account in Chrome, with my Gmail open in a separate tab, yet when I go to YouTube in a different tab, I am not able to sign into my account. I can sign into YouTube on my iPhone, on my Roku, and on my Google tv, although for some reason my computer is refusing to let me sign in.

Not sure if this is relevant to this issue, but the last few days I've been getting the error message on the iOS YouTube app saying that "Playback paused because there are too many devices streaming on your plan right now;" which, I have never seen that error message pop up until this last week.

The photo below is what I get redirected to when I try signing into YouTube on my PC. I have tried signing out of every device, I have reset my Google password, I have cleared my cache and browsing data, I have restarted my computer, and I have tried with and without VPN. Please, someone tell me what to do 🙏
