Discussion Gears E-Day tops Xbox player engagement ranking

Post image

Source: https://www.trueachievements.com/news/gears-of-war-e-day-xbox-player-count

What’s impressive here is that last week, more players plays gears than Minecraft, Fortnite, Roblox, and COD.

You can say gamepass cannibalized its sales, you can say it doesn’t sold well, but it sure has a lot of players playing it on xbox. If they track success by number of players and hours played, then gears is obviously a success, regardless if its retail numbers are low.

It's been there since November 10th, 2020.

I like the look and it's solid AF. It's filled with rocks and has the spikes installed so it's heavy and sturdy. (was previously used for actual speakers) It's the 24 inch flavor - https://a.co/d/0dpLx7Ll

Anyone else use something like this for a stand?

/edit to those with stability/position concerns
1.) it's been six years, forget about her already... I mean it hasn't budged in 6 years and it won't.
2.) I live alone and my dog isn't crazy, I don't hang out swinging my arms in that area.
3.) Aesthetics, that is the reason it is oriented towards the front. Middle doesn't look as good to me and I'm not going to put it in the back like a demon.
4.) I don't own any physical games so I am not touching it, just myself.

Discussion The Xbox with no shell

Post image
• Upvotes

Ive had this xbox for... 4-5 years now! I work at a funeral home and at the time a young guy had passed away. He was an avid console player and had both the brand new Xbox series x and ps5 when they had come out. His family brought us his Xbox and asked if we could turn it into an urn. Me being the only "techy" person there, the task was given to me. So i gutted the console carefully and turned the shell into a simple urn! The family said i could keep the guts as they didnt need it so... i did! And around the time I was given some little milk cartons by my grandparents and the box was almost the perfect fit! I got the heat sync hole because I was afraid of it getting too hot and burning the cardboard. It still works totally and 100% fine to this day! I dont play it as much, but from time to time ill turn it on and enjoy it for a while! I had to tape the button to turn it on and reset it to the other side of the box because I didnt have a place to out it lol. And then I had to recently fix the box with duct tape because my original tape was failing (it was just scotch tape). I still fear shes a fire hazard so I dont use it unless im in the same room with it! Plus its a great conversation piece when guests ask what it is and I tell them its a while xbox!

Discussion Valor Mortis supports Disc-to-Digital and Play Anywhere

Post image
63 Upvotes

I received Valor Mortis physical 1 day before official release. I was able to claim the digital on my Series X and then install and play it on my ROG Xbox Ally X. I figured that it would let me install and play the disc on my Series X even though the Xbox store says it won't be available until tomorrow, but was presently surprised that the Play Anywhere PC version could be installed and played early too due to the disc-to-digital license.

Review Star Wars Galactic Racer is available on Amazon Luna with Prime, and it works surprisingly well with the Xbox Series X Microsoft Edge Browser

I've been wanting to try Star Wars Galactic Racer but wasn't quite ready to drop the money on it. Saw that it was available day one on Amazon Luna with a regular Prime subscription, so I figured I'd see if I could get it working on my Series X.

For starters, I didn't even realize Amazon Luna was still around, much less that I could play games on it for free with my existing Prime membership. Apparently there's no playtime limit either? (looking at you xCloud)

Anyway, I opened Microsoft Edge on my Xbox, went to luna.amazon.com, signed in (used the Amazon app option so I didn't have to type my password), and launched the game. After signing in you just need to toggle the little controller icon in the browser's address bar so your Xbox controller works with the game.

And... it just works? Like, really well? I've been playing from my couch on my Series X and genuinely can't tell that it's being streamed. I expected at least some noticeable input lag, especially for a racing game, but it's been surprisingly smooth (note that I have a gigabit connection).

The funny thing is I'm now hooked enough that I'm considering actually buying the Xbox version, but I'm worried I'll lose all the progress and unlocks I've earned on Luna. Anyone know if there's cross-progression?

One downside worth mentioning is that multiplayer isn't available on the Luna version right now, although it says it's coming soon.

Not sure how well this works for everyone depending on internet connection, but figured I'd share since I had no idea this was even an option. If you're like me and just wanted to try Galactic Racer without buying it, this is a pretty cool workaround if you have an Amazon Prime subscription.

News Severe Xbox Shortages Continue in Europe, Skyrocketing Prices Ahead of GTA 6 Launch - Power Up Gaming

In the majority of European territories, Xbox Series X hardware is either listed as permanently out of stock or has been completely delisted from major storefronts and local Microsoft Store portals. In the rare markets where hardware inventory is available, units are listed exclusively through third-party marketplace merchants or import sellers who have jacked up prices far above MSRP (€799.99).

At MediaMarkt, one of Europe’s largest electronics retailers, brand-new Xbox Series X stock is completely absent. The retailer currently lists only refurbished inventory, with models listed in “Good” condition starting at €973.

In Denmark, retailers and marketplace merchants are listing standard 1TB Xbox Series X units between 9,999 DKK and 10,367 DKK (approximately €1,340 to €1,390). Used or refurbished stock on these platforms begins around 7,635 DKK (~€1,023).

Discussion The new Xbox CEO needs to clarify Xbox's position in markets outside the US.

How can anyone trust a multinational corporation that has completely abandoned markets outside the US for the past two years? They deliberately chose to let themselves be forgotten, using the excuse that people only buy PlayStation and Nintendo consoles. Of course those brands sell—they spend billions on marketing.

For example, take a look at how much Sony has spent over the last 20 years just to sponsor the UEFA Champions League.

Nintendo is bombarding TV channels 24 hours a day; I have a 4-year-old daughter, and guess what she’s started asking me for? The Switch.

Super Mario is everywhere, even on yogurt pots at the supermarket (lol).

When we walk into large electronics chains, we find entire sections featuring PlayStation and Nintendo stations. The small areas that once held out with Xbox products were first relegated to out-of-the-way spots, and now they have disappeared completely.

If you buy an Xbox and it breaks, you don't even have the option to replace it. In many European countries, there isn't even an official support service. It’s absurd.

Gears of War E-Day is out, and if you ask for a physical copy in stores, they give you a strange look: "What? Did it not come out on PS5?".

I’d like to remind Microsoft that the Xbox 360 was more widespread than the PS3 in Europe between 2008 and 2012; 90% of gamers chose Xbox for multiplatform titles.

Go to YouTube and watch gameplay videos of games from that era; they were all on the 360.

I live in Italy, and we all had a 360 back then.

The failure of the last 13 years is entirely your own fault. Now, you’ve deliberately chosen to fade into obscurity.

The new Xbox CEO needs to first clarify Xbox’s position outside the US and restore at least a minimal presence (right now, you can’t even buy from the official store). As for pricing, you need to at least match the PS5; how can you ask for 800 euros for a Series X or 500 for a Series S? Come on, let’s be serious here...

Personally, they can claim that Project Helix will be ten times more powerful than the PS6 and have 100% of the exclusives, but if they remain so vague about support outside the US, the project will be a total failure right from launch.

I was unfortunately cut off though. There were enough PCs here to get me two decades of gamepass. Oh well, 3 years is good enough.
