Same here i have a small backyard organic pinot noir vinyard. How many vines do you have and what was the total weight of harvest?

That looks amazing! Still young vines I see? We have an experimental vineyard atm. Solaris, muscaris, regent, souvignier gris 50 vines each

They are 5 years old but the head is only 2 inches from the soil we cane prune so new canes up on the fruit wire each year, in my region we get negative 30 Celsius so we leave the head of the vine low to be hilled up each winter, in the picture you can see the next years fruiting canes are tied down then dirt hilled up over them

Wow crazy ! Which region is this? I thought you had to train higher up for frost for air circulation and pick late budding varietals. Never seen that, but looks cool! Kudos for the dedication 🙌🏻

Looking at those clouds, must be pretty North in Ontario. That training is cool - it's like each vine has a twin!

Yes you see the hard wood, that will be pruned away and then the brown wood next to it will be tied down and buried

So cool. Do you wait for the vines to go dormant before you prune them or do it right after harvest? I've also wondered, with heads that are completely buried, how problematic is it uncovering them? Do you put a cover on them before the hilling and Is there much damage every spring?

For the souvignier gris, we had about 125kg. But we are going to trim some more bunches next year for higher quality grapes
