Rafting - Commercial Wanting a seasonal WWR job in CO but don’t know what company

I’ve been wanting to apply to white water rafting jobs in Colorado for over a year now. This would be my first year so I’d be a rookie and want adequate but cheap training.

Colorado Adventure Center (CAC) has been my top pick out of them all but haven’t seen best opinions on here… I also have AVA rafting high on my list. I’ve heard back from raft masters too but haven’t seen much about them on here.

Also I’ll be 21 and this will be my first time moving out of my hometown. So I want to be able to integrate myself with people my age to make friends. Having fun things to go do on my downtime that is close by is a must so keep that into consideration before commenting.

I really would love to live in my car/camp for my first year just to develop new outdoor experience so a camp ground would be nice with my company I chose to work for. I just want yalls opinions on these companies and what yall would recommend for first gear raft guides.

Rafting - Private Webbing floor for cataraft

Can’t seem to find any instructions online on weaving a checkerboard trampoline floor on my cataraft frame. Saw some cool commercial ones. I can figure out the weaving, but terminating each length I don’t understand unless it requires sewing…

Kayaking Skuxx vs Skuxx deluxe

Hi all
I'm tossing up whether to get the standard skuxx or the puffy version

I'm 155lb, intermediate boater, but coming back from a long injury layoff (shoulder and knee)

I realise I'd be generally more suited to the smaller boat at my size, but my main priority is to get a fun stable surfing river runner for G2-3, I'll be looking after my shoulders so stern squirts aren't a priority, I'd rather have a little more safety margin of extra volume , but wonder if I will regret the extra volume of the puffy in being pushed around a bit more by riding higher.
Id like to be able to paddle big water G3 and potentially some g4 with a safety margin (previously I was pretty happy on G4, but I do still have my creek boat if I do decide I don't want to push things again)

I'd love to hear your opinions.

Kayaking Kayak sizing

Trying to get into kayaking and looking at the Jackson antix 2.0. My question is it better to be the higher end of a small or lower end of a medium? I’m 161lbs at 5’10 and I found a good deal on market place for a medium and was curious if that would cause a trouble. Have plenty of white water experience on my hyside mini max. Thanks in advance!

Subreddit Discussion Wapwallopen creek data center threat.

Has anyone here paddled Wapwallowpen creek in PA recently?

I was up there this weekend and wanted to check out powder hole but there is construction all the way to the creek to install data center pipes. This little run would be 100% a creek boater's dream when it goes. Look it up. It might not be here soon.

Kayaking Mexico advice

A buddy and I are heading to Tlapacoyan with Adventurec in December. Any tips, pitfalls, "must not miss" rivers/creeks? We are class IV boaters, but not experienced yet with waterfalls. Thanks

I was up there this weekend and wanted to check out powder hole but there is construction all the way to the creek to install data center pipes. I dont think I would have the balls to run the whole thing when it goes, but it is 100% a creek boater's dream. Look it up. It might not be here soon.

Freestyle What stops me from going to freestyle comps in a fullslice and just keep making split/cartwheels?

See title, would it be possible to just keep linking ends for 45 seconds and making a whole bunch of points that way?

Kayaking Waka Manu Seat Position

6’2” 225 pounds coming from an OG which is my all time favorite creek boat. The Manu is quite a bit faster and I’m learning the edges. Initial impressions are that it’s a little less forgiving than the OG, especially the secondary stability and maybe a touch harder to roll. With the seat in the middle position, the boat felt locked on rails and was hard to steer or change direction coming out of drops. The added speed is nice and man, does this thing skip!

I tried the seat one hole back from center and it loosened up the bow and feels less locked in coming out of drops. The stern edges feel more engaged and less trippy or grabby which sounds counterintuitive. I still feel like I’m sitting in the front of the boat though, what would be the pros/cons of moving the seat even farther back?

I am currently on a road trip from denver Colorado. I am traveling solo with my kayak and all gear. I’m in Montreal and wondering where I should head next. Where in eastern Canada or USA is there good class IV whitewater right now? Anyone up for paddling together if I head your way?

Kayaking Kayaking gear

Getting reoutfitted so I can start getting out on the river more routinely. Just picked up a used Rewind. Now I need all the accessories: pfd, helmet, skirt, paddle.

Recommendations for doing this so I don’t break the bank? I can spend where it makes sense but also don’t want to spend a fortune if I don’t have to. I’m in Seattle and have been searching around on Craigslist. But would love any advice for how best to approach this so I can get out as the rivers start to rise around here.

Thanks!

Me and some friends have gotten into paddling whitewater with our packrafts. We debated doing this little dam, because of potential dangerous undercurrents that can swallow you and throw you around.

We are all beginners. We all did this one, and it was fun and felt safe, but was it?

Kayaking Vancouver kayaking

Hey y'all not sure if this is allowed but I am going to be in Vancouver from November 7-10th for a conference. I have nothing planned on Sunday the 8th and would love to get some paddling in. I was wondering if anyone thinks they may be paddling that weekend, have a boat and paddle to spare and would be willing to take a tag along with them. I am willing to check my helmet, pdf, dry gear, and possibly a break down paddle if need be. Comfortable class IV kayaker that could stretch to a V. Anyways if someone wants a paddle buddy for a random Sunday in November, Id be happy to tag along.

Hi gang,

Headed to Albania at the start of November. If anyone knows of any Albanian kayak instructors that would rent kit and go paddling for a day that would be class. Assuming the rivers are in season etc.

Kayaking Replacing the Waka Tuna MK1 with most most similar kayak...

Hi Paddle People,

I have kayaked my Waka Tuna Mark 1 for more than a decade. LOVED IT. Now I have outlived it.
I am a medium-sized, heavy guy, and the Waka Tuna was the perfect kayak for me.
The pointy front was perfect to place it exactly into any wave where I wanted,
very easy and elegant to turn,
fast,
perfect length and volume.
Ideally, I would have loved to have the exact same one again (but the Tunas MK1 are old now)
I just tested the new Waka Manu, but found it more clumsy than agile and way too long. I have good memories of the Exo T-Rex, but the round front made exact steering tough, the R9 was great for LeeValley, but maybe too long for a natural river?

Would the Waka OG be the next candidate, or is there someone here who can hint me towards the next best thing?
