And they wonder why Steam is winning.

sadly, fortnite alone is netting them more money than steam could ever make

You vastly underestimate how much money steam makes
Like, to the point where vastly doesn’t feel like anywhere near strong enough of a word. It’s completely incomparable. Valve has been able to thrive as a gaming company with their only paid release in the past 15 years being a VR game that, due to being a vr exclusive, had an inherent target demographic of about 13 people.

Sources cite that at its financial peak in 2018, Fortnite generated $5.4 Billion in revenue that year.
Steam meanwhile generated $17 billion in revenue in 2025.
And that is before operating costs are also included. Epic Games has thousands of employees to pay, Valve has roughly 400. I think people truly do not understand the unbelievable cash cow that Steam is.

Take it from someone who has been repeatedly suspended for saying the mildest things against a group that definitely deserves it: it's not worth it. Reddit is an extra ban-happy site.

Yeh I got suspended for a week I think it was for jokingly saying "we should burn this down" or wtvr to an ai billboard saying like "ai wont complain when there's poor regulations"

I got 2 bans for inciting violence and I think both of them were on fictional characters. Like "cutting off cat ears off a human character" (typing like this incase I get slapped)

I guess steam are the good guys because they ask game companies to put tiny optional A.I. disclaimers on, which the triple A companies simply don't bother doing (and steam never checks).
