New, what is it? What is this that came out of grandma's closet?
Nobody here knows what it is. It has some thin hooks and a brush hangs from it.

It's to hang silk scarves.

Or neck ties

The brush is actually why I don't think it's for neckties. My nana had a similar brush for her silk scarves she used to wear over her hair to get dirt, dust and like hair products off of them to minimize washing. I've never seen anything like that for neckties.

The hooks are perfect for neck ties. It's OK if they don't use the brush.

Sooo what it is is a place to hang and brush silk scarves but you could easily repurpose it to hang other things and just not use the entire item.

Yes like how you can put a coat on a hanger even though sometimes it has a bar for pants. There are no closet police.

My grandmother had one hanging in her dressing room with scarves on it also.

Some kind of clothing/accesory hangar with a dusting brush?

If you watch something like Downtown Abbey, you’ll see Mary tie a scarf around her neck or hair and brush off her coat before going outside.

The brush could be for suede, or maybe it’s a valet brush given that the entire unit appears to be a tie holder. My money is on some sort of garment purpose. Suede bags or shoes/boots get brushed to remove dust and dirt and to maintain the textured finish. Or if it’s a clothing brush: it would have been used to freshen wool or tweeds in between wearings (remove lint or hair or debris.)

I am guessing that it is either a hanger for handbags or for scarves. The brush is to brush off lint or dirt. However, that is a guess.

It's for men's ties and the brush most likely to use on dark suits. I'm from back in the day and it is definitely a masculine accessory. I'm assuming there was a grandpa at some point?

I would imagine that in a place with a dog lover. I 'd walk him and put his chain on those hooks and give him a brush. I guess they have a lot of dogs.
