Help Finishing help!

Post image

I'm a new weaver, and this scarf was my second project ever. I had some issues at the beginning, and now I have these loops at the edge from my weft turns. If they were more flush I wouldn't be too fussed, but they're big enough that I'm worried about them getting snagged.

The scarf is close to 7 feet long so I really don't want to hem the entire length - can I safely snip these edges to eliminate the loops? Or am I better off trying to stitch them down?

It it was just a few, I’d probably take a crochet hook and try to tease the excess yarn away from the edges and then snip the loop away.

Really though, you learn to live with your mistakes and make more beautiful scarves. It will keep you just as warm with a few loops on the edges

Question: "and then snip the loop away" - if you pulled the extra thread in and then snipped it, wouldn't the whole thing unravel? I'm also a new weaver and just assumed everything had to stay intact.

Is it wet finished yet? What's the fiber?

That can depend on the fiber you used. If it is one of the tools that fulls tightly, you can wet finishing, almost "felt" and snip- that is how.prpper wool kilts are made. If it is.made of a fiber that doesn't completely full during wet finishing, cutting the loops will end up being a huge headache.

You could cover it in a trim of some sort
