Discussion Review for knittingwoolshop.com ?
Hello everyone, hope this kind of post is allowed, very sorry if not. And sorry for potential mistakes, English is not my first language.
I've been looking at band weaving and tablet weaving for a while and finally started looking at looms. I found these incredible priced looms on the website knittingwoolshop.com and they almost seem too good to be true.
Internet search for potential scams have turned up mixed reviews so my question is: has anyone got any experience with this website? Is it legit or a scam?
Thanks :)

At those prices it is 100% a scam site. Looms do not get listed on steep discounts like that; some don't let their dealers discount and for others a 10 or 20% or so discount is as good as it gets. Those prices are too low even for something like a floor model or open box from a legit dealer.

I've no experience with them, but looking at the site I see a lot of red flags. They are a 'knitting' shop but the first categories of products are blanks for vinyl decals and buttons? Also, their yarn category is entirely unsorted, it's just 6000 products in a pile with no way to filter out material, size, length, product type or anything else. And there's non-yarn products in there as well. And they sell looms but have no loom or weaving category even though those are high ticket items. They also have spinning wheels with _insane_ discounts (like $700 off of an ashford). There is very little chance this is real. The only place I'd expect that kind of discount is with a going out of bussiness sale and even then it's too much

Yeah it seems obvious now and I feel silly for asking. Will probably delete my post as I got my answer. Thank you

Don't feel silly! You were right to spot inconcistencies and I can very much imagine wanting to convince yourself it's real because those would be amazing prices. And maybe this post will teach other people more ways to spot scammy sites.

Please don't delete it! I'm just now getting into weaving and this was SO HELPFUL! I'm sure it will also help others.

Don't feel bad! You felt that something was off enough to make this post. Sometimes we need another person to help us verbalize the problems we're seeing. It's one of the great things about having a community like this - an extra set of eyes.
I encourage you to NOT delete. I see that you feel silly for asking (and do I ever know that feeling) but I guarantee that your question will prevent at least one other human from losing money to a scam site. They might not even be a redditor, they may Google "knittingwoolshop.com scam" and see this thread in the results.

Please don’t! I love shopping for yarn and weaving stuff. Your post helped me bc I too have seen this site and wondered about buying from it. I didn’t bc I was frustrated I couldn’t sort the yarn categories by fiber or thickness. I didn’t know until I read the comments here that it was a classic red flag for scam sites. Your questions helped!

No, not silly! You were smart to check before giving them your money. Now others are+alerted as well.

Thank you for a great question. We all need to be reminded about how to spot scams. You just educated a bunch of fabulous weavers and fiber lovers.

There are scam companies like this that target many different hobbyists. This one just happens to be targeting band weavers. It is definitely too good to be true.

Is that the one in “south carolina”? You can look up how long the owners have had their website.

I wouldn't trust it personally. There's no business address or phone number, they don't have any social media, their website sells a very random selection of things, I can't see any reviews of them online, and they're not listed as a Lojan stockist. Nothing but red flags.
