It needs a good iron and the fit isn’t perfect everywhere but we are all going to be nice about that. It’s super comfy

Beautiful and it’s very flattering.

What yarn did you use?

This random unlabelled cotton I got from tomato in Japan a few years ago. I indigo dyed it before weaving.

The color saturation is lovely. It’s a nice bright blue that will wear beautifully.

oh man I've been watching the progress with excitement, have you made others? it's so cool seeing someone sew with the fabric they made 💖

Stellar work! I would be absolutely chuffed if I could pull off a garment like that. Keep it up.

That is such a cute dress/top! I love the fit, and it drapes so nicely. Good work!

Thank you! Lots of compliments at work this week. (It’s a dress I was just very lazy for the video)

This is very, very nice. What pattern did you use? I'm not sure I'd use it, as there seem to be far more darts than I'm comfortable with, but you seem to have those down to a science. 😁 I had wondered if the interfacing would interfere with the drape of the cloth, but it doesn't seem to do so. Have you ever experienced using it and noticing it impacting the final result, in terms of reducing the drape of the final piece? I hope you get much enjoyment out of wearing this.

I drafted it myself. It’s princess seams at the front and it has a couple of little back darts. It’s my first time sewing with my handwoven fabric so I don’t have a lot of reference points but the interfacing didn’t seem to impact much at all.

Darn it, I really was considering purchasing the pattern. LOL! I'm glad to hear about the interfacing, though, as that seems like a very reasonable alternative to some of the things I've tried over the years. And, yeah, I guess I mistook the princess seams for front darts; I did notice the back darts, hence my comment. I am really impressed by your work and I hope we see more of it in the future! Thank you for taking the time to respond to me.

I was interested too!

OP, your top is beautiful! And the pattern is fantastic! You deserve to be really proud. Wishing you much joy!

I think you could use Upton mix & match by Cashmerette to make something similar.

1

u/mao369 27d ago

That is an interesting site, though the sizes are not for me. I do like the concept however. Thanks!

The smallest size for the Upton dress is around a US 4 I think. Could you make adjustments from there?

That's so beautiful! Phenomenal work!

As a newbie, this just blows my mind. I'm amazed and it's so gorgeous, the drape of it is perfect. Wow. I can't seem to find the progress photos others referred to. Could you share a few "along the way" or "on the loom" photos? I'd love to see. You're an inspiration for sure!

I thought this was just in my sewing subs but to know you've weaved the fabric too is amazing! It looks great

2

u/Craftnerd_ 26d ago

Thanks - I am a little bit scared of the sewing subs 😂

u/craftingartiste24 25d ago

Hahah same, I'm not that skilled. But you should definitely show this off!

1

u/pearwin 25d ago

It’s super cute and I think the comfortability is the biggest win of all, that means you’re gonna wear it, and love it a lot

That came out beautifully!
