Finished Project I did ALL of it by hand!!
I got interested in spinning yarn earlier this year. Pretty quickly into the journey I decided I wanted to use my handspun to make a tapestry. So I spun all this yarn on spindles, made a pvc pipe adjustable tension loom, and wove this picture. Then I felted on some details. The weaving is all wonky and pulled in at the top, and there are a million mistakes, but I love this sooooo much. Working on this tapestry got me sucked into r/weaving, and then I ended up getting an 8 shaft converted table to floor loom a few months ago. I’m obsessed, and very happy.

This is gorgeous and innovative! I have also fallen in love with spinning and weaving this year. I got an antique spinning wheel and a 4 shaft loom

So beautiful. I don't have the kind of patience that this type of weaving takes so I always admire and envy lovely work like this. Well done weaver! Or would you prefer artist? You are clearly both.

Such an amazing piece of work! I am also a spinner and weaver, and am really in love with how well your yarns worked, and how you combined your skills! Very charming and full of color!

So beautiful!! How did you attach the rya knots to the bottom rod like that? :)

I attached them strait to the rod and then sewed the tapestry to it with loops of string going in between each knot and around the rod. I had to redo it once because it was all wonky the first time I tried.

This is beautiful and fascinating! I love seeing people get passionate about a bunch of related crafts all at once.
I'm curious about the PVC loom - how do you switch the warp threads back and forth?

I used a shed stick and a string heddle! Also did some finger picking.

I read Rebecca Metzoff’s blog post about making her copper pipe loom and figured out how to adjust it to PVC. My super handy husband also helped me with a couple details I couldn’t figure out. I wanted to make sure I could put something in there to increase the warp tension, which was the trickiest part.

As Fluffy would say, "Damn!" You get kudos for several reasons. Your spinning is excellent. I also love the tapestry, and I love your loom. I admire so much the patience, talent, and creativity that goes into all of this work you've done. Thanks for sharing. You brought beauty into my day today.

That’s beautiful! My counselor has a handwoven wall hanging in her office. Her husband will take found wood, attach warp to it, probably to a dowel at the bottom, then weaves pictures like you did. After seeing his for years and now yours, I want to try it! Thank you for the inspiration.

I used to do that as well. But only on one side, and the bottom was super bunched up. I think I got better...

Beautiful ! May I ask how you tensioned this pvc loom ? Been wanting to make one myself

I did something similar to Rebecca Metzoff’s copper pipe loom. At the top the side pieces are cut and connected back together with a screw between, so I can advance a nut along the screw until the warp is tight enough. I wish I could post photos!
