Self-Promotion (Developer) Ocarina of Time running natively on Quest is now in beta, and it supports mods

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

A few weeks ago I shared the alpha of my Ocarina of Time port for Quest. Thanks for all the feedback. Here's the beta.

Mods are in. Select Add Mods in the headset, pick a Ship of Harkinian mod and restart the game. HD texture packs and translations work.

New since the alpha:

  • Mod support: Tested HD textures, models and translations
  • Explore mode: start with every item and just enjoy Hyrule
  • SOH Boss Rush works with all the VR controls
  • Throw bombs, the boomerang and Deku nuts with your arm
  • Drop bombchus on the floor
  • Arrows, slingshot seeds and the hookshot go where you point
  • Swing the Megaton Hammer and the Deku Stick
  • Physical shield: block with your hand, the Mirror Shield reflects magic
  • 90 Hz when it can, 72 Hz when it needs to
  • Use the Ship of Harkinian menu with the Touch controllers

Known issues:

  • Some original 2D interiors have no textures.
  • The camera can move a lot during cutscenes, because it follows the camera of the original game.

To play:

  1. Enable developer mode on the headset.
  2. Install the APK with SideQuest.
  3. Start the game. Select your own legal copy of the game (N64 or GameCube). No game assets are included.

Tested on Quest 3S. Try it and tell me how it runs. Contributions are welcome.

Self-Promotion (Developer) Virtua Cop (1994 arcade) in REAL 3D VR on Quest 3, with a 3D virtual homemade gun in hand. You're not shooting on a flat screen (but you can) and it's free.

"Don't shoot me!"

The legendary Virtua Cop is out in VR.

First, thank you for the incredible welcome you gave Sega Rally. We're already more than 150 on the Discord, and I hope it's only the beginning of this community's adventure.

This is the second one, and this time you're standing in the docks with the gangsters, at real scale, with a 3D gun in your hand: aim with the controller like the cabinet's light gun, reload by shooting below the screen, and the hits land on what you shoot. Everything runs on the Quest 3 in real 3D, redrawn in 4K at 120 Hz.

Coming next: Time Crisis (in beta right now, sign-ups are open), Time Crisis II, The House of the Dead, Dirt Dash (beta soon), Daytona USA, Top Skater, Sega Super GT 24h and Virtua Racing.

Have fun with it, and any support is welcome: even just sharing it helps a lot.

Self-Promotion (Developer) I rebuilt the combat in my free Spider-Man Remastered VR mod: punch at an enemy and you fly across the roof

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Spidy is a free fan mod that puts Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered in VR on PC. This clip is the reworked combat, recorded in the headset on a Quest 3:

  • A ring marks one enemy at a time. Throw a fist at that enemy from across the roof and you fly there.
  • An arrow calls the next blow: a hook, an uppercut or a blow down. A yellow arrow calls the finisher.
  • Knock an enemy off the roof and you can follow through the air, pull the enemy up on a web and land the blow in slow motion.

This combat is in the next update. The current release already has arm-driven web swinging, the web shooter, grab and throw, and walls you can run along.

Setup in a minute and a half: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aq-DvGblB3Q Download: https://github.com/IlyaMez/SpidyVR Discord (500 players testing builds): https://discord.gg/x27ZXDpdNt

Early alpha, and a fan project: not affiliated with Insomniac, Sony or Marvel. Happy to answer questions.

Hey y'all, I've had this VR game idea all the way back in 2020 and in the past year I've started putting it together! Here is my announcement trailer!

I love that VR is starting to make a little comeback and I wanted to try to make a unique VR game with unique VR only mechanics. I'd really appreciate it if you guys gave me your honest thoughts about it. I'm trying to create an experience where you and a loved one can have some jolly cooperation. I love that VR can be a place for humans to connect with each other and I think we need more things to do together in VR.

Anyways, thanks for checking me out!

it’s insane already that we can play this gem in vr, and this mod adds things like climbing, full web physics, performance updates, etc. making it even better! There’s no longer much doubt that this is the best Spider-Man vr experience to date.

Self-Promotion (Developer) I made MallVR, a free tool that runs the 1990s Virtuality arcade VR games (Pac-Man VR and more) in SteamVR

Post image
10 Upvotes

Hi, I’m Bobby, and I make MallVR. It’s a free loader that lets you play the old Virtuality arcade VR games on a modern SteamVR headset. These were the 1990s pods you used to find in malls. The picture is Pac-Man VR running in MallVR.

It’s free and I’m the developer. I’m posting it here because I’d like feedback from VR people, and a video or review would help a lot. Gameplay, first impressions or a rant all work. Honest is better than polished.

More info and screenshots: gainesphere.com/pages/mallvr

How to get it running (about 10 minutes):

  1. Download the free MallVR Loader zip from gainesphere.com/pages/mallvr-download.
  2. Unzip it somewhere you can write to, like C:\Games\MallVR. Don’t use Program Files.
  3. Get the game files from the Internet Archive. MallVR only includes the loader, not the games.
    • Hard drive dump: archive.org/details/su2000-hdd-files. Unzip the .7z with 7-Zip. Copy the folder that has a PAC folder inside it (next to DAC, DN2 and so on) into the games folder inside MallVR.
    • Pac-Man VR CD image: archive.org/details/drive-download-20240331T000417Z-001. Unzip it and copy everything, including PACMAN.CUE, PACMAN.BIN and the music files, into the same games folder. Keep them together.
  4. Double-click Check_My_Games.bat. When it says READY next to Pac-Man VR, you’re set. NEEDS CD means the CUE and BIN files aren’t in the games folder.
  5. Turn on your headset and SteamVR first, then double-click Play_Pac-Man_VR.bat. It also opens a mirror window on your monitor, which is handy for recording. No headset? Play_Pac-Man_VR_NoVR.bat plays on the monitor with keyboard and mouse.

If Windows SmartScreen complains about the .bat files, click More info, then Run anyway. They’re plain text, so you can open them in Notepad and see what they do.

If you get stuck, join the Discord (“MallVR | MallRats”, discord.gg/7tDn2AAXEC) and I’ll help you get going.

If you make a video, send me the link. I’d love to watch it and share it. There’s an optional tip jar at ko-fi.com/mallvr, but it’s completely optional.

Thanks for taking a look!

Photo/Video Teardown in VR – Free Mod for Meta Quest 3 (Teardown VR)

Thumbnail
youtube.com
9 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I've been working on **Teardown VR**, a free, unofficial mod that lets you play Teardown in VR with a Meta Quest 3 connected to your PC.

**What it does**

- True stereo 3D: both eyes show the exact same moment of the game

- Your tool is in your hand, with an aiming laser

- A physical left hand: push, grab and throw objects

- Vehicle driving, an inventory at your belt and a 3D map of the level

- A full settings panel inside the headset (English or French)

- Rain, smoke and particles look the same in both eyes, so much less eye strain

**Works with Workshop mods**

Tested with: AC130 Airstrike, THE EVERYTHING REVOLVER, Total Overdose, Natural Phenomena, Portal Gun, Physics Gun, Ultra Grav Gun, Magnetizer, Omnicutter, Thermite Cannon, Gluon Plasma Diffuser, DOOM Chaingun, Vacuum Cleaner, Meteor Strike, Voxplosion, GLARE, God Mode, Better slow-motion and Kmc's Fly Mod.

Some of them get extra VR support:

- Total Overdose: one gun in each hand

- AC130 Airstrike: the plane's camera works in VR, with zoom

- THE EVERYTHING REVOLVER: the ammo wheel floats in front of you

- Natural Phenomena: its weather menu becomes a floating panel you use with the controllers

- Portal Gun: the crosshair follows your weapon

Other mods usually work too: Teardown VR finds their keys, scales their weapons to your hand and turns their menus into floating panels.

**What you need**

- Teardown on Steam (version 2.0.x)

- A Meta Quest 3 + a PC: Virtual Desktop (recommended) or Quest Link

- A strong graphics card (in VR the game renders one image per eye). The default settings are high: on a weaker PC, lower "Image quality" in the mod's settings.

Made and tested on a Quest 3. Other PC VR headsets through SteamVR may work, but I haven't tested them.

**Download (free):** https://patreon.com/VRGamesForAll

One installer: pick English or French, it finds the game by itself.

**Warning:** a Teardown update can break the mod.

It's a free fan project, provided as is, without any warranty. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Tuxedo Labs.

Have fun!

Discussion Need some input on building room dedicated to VR

I'm looking for my first house and i told myself one thing i HAD to have was sufficient space for room scale vr, i never had enough space before in apartment and i wondered what a good size bedroom would be for vr. The room would need to have a desk of course, and some extra space for my sim rig, the rest for room scale games. Then i got thinking, is room scale still being used today or would it be better to have a room with a treadmill? Or does anyone here use both and what would that setup be like? If you did something similar to me, what were the dimensions and what vr setups do you have?

Self-Promotion (Developer) Release Void Bastards VR 1.0.0 · umm-software/VoidBastardsVR

Thumbnail
github.com
5 Upvotes

The PC VR mod for Void Bastards is out! Thanks to everyone who commented on the teaser.

Download: https://github.com/umm-software/VoidBastardsVR/releases/tag/v1.0.0

What you get

  • The whole game in stereo 3D, including the layered comic-art main menu
  • Motion controls: aim and shoot with your hand, point and grip to interact, and thumbstick movement with snap or smooth turning
  • A floating HUD, with enemy names, health bars and damage numbers in the world
  • Menus and comic pages on a floating screen, clicked with a laser pointer
  • The original comic ink outlines, kept intact

Easy install with Umm Mod Launcher

  1. Download VoidBastardsVR-v1.0.0.zip and extract it anywhere (not into the game folder).
  2. Run UmmModLauncher.exe. If Windows SmartScreen warns you, click More info → Run anyway.
  3. Click Install VR mod, connect your headset (Virtual Desktop, Link or similar), start SteamVR, then click Launch in VR.

The launcher backs up your game files first, repairs the mod after game updates, and Restore original game undoes everything. It also has a Controls page where you can see the button layout for your controller and rebind it in SteamVR.

Compatibility: tested only on the Epic Games Store version (2.0.33) with a Meta Quest 3 via Virtual Desktop. Other headsets (Index, Steam Frame, Vive, WMR), Link and the Steam version have default controls but are untested.

Known limitation: guns are still the game's original 2D sprites, held in your hand and angled toward where you aim. 3D gun models may come later.

Please report bugs or tell me how it runs on your setup here: https://github.com/umm-software/VoidBastardsVR/issues

Unofficial fan mod, not affiliated with Blue Manchu or Humble Games. You need your own copy of the game, and no game files are included.

Self-Promotion (Developer) Outlaws (1997) in VR, running natively on Quest: full co-op campaign, online multiplayer with bots, a randomizer, enemy multipliers and more

Thumbnail
youtu.be
• Upvotes

I’ve been turning LucasArts’ Outlaws into a full VR game, and it’s ready for more testers.

It runs standalone on Quest 3 and Quest 2, and on PC VR through Link, Air Link or SteamVR. It uses the levels, art, sound and cutscenes from your own copy of Outlaws Remastered, so no game files come with it. You’ll need the Remastered version from Steam or GOG.

Test builds are up on our Discord for testers and anyone who already owns Outlaws Remastered. A public release is coming soon. https://discord.com/invite/VVA98hb

Discussion Is the light coming from the nose area of the frame better or worse than quest 3?

• Upvotes

I hear people upset that the ergo kit isn't available and want the nose blocker. I honesty don't have an issue with the quest 3 having that problem. Unless it's worse on the frame I probably wouldn't use it.

Purchase Advice On the Steam Frame waitlist…is it worth it at this point?

Hey there, folks! I’ve seen a lot of talk about the Steam Frame with folks on the reservation list, but I wanted to open it up a bit.

As the title says, the randomization has not fallen in my favor…I’m not even part of the reservation group who could be waiting all of 2027. The waitlist folks like me currently have no exact time nor expectation of when they may be getting their hands on a Frame.

Now that it’s been a few weeks since the Frame has released and people have had their times with it, I’ve seen a lot of the good, the bad, and the ugly. And, with knowing how far this pushes back the expectation of timing for Steam Frame, with worst estimates for folks on the waitlist being 2028, I want to ask at this point: is the Frame still worth the wait and the price? I dropped a ton upgrading my PC this past year, hoping to be able to have a Frame by winter, and slowly but surely, I think that’s out of the realm of possibilities at this point.

I just wanna hear what folks have to say at this point, probably because I’m despairing the rough news of the Frame’s release. What other headsets are out there that could be worth it instead? I know they all come with pros and cons (data harvesting especially in mind) and beyond the mainstream, I’m pretty open to all options at this point.

Just wanted to see what folks were generally thinking at this point. Hope this hasn’t been asked too much lately, but I figure it couldn’t hurt to ask.

Self-Promotion (Developer) Diablo II: Resurrected in VR on Quest 3 via Steam Link or Virtual Desktop: physical bow, melee and spells (free PCVR mod) WIP

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

UPDATE: pcvrgamer has so graciously put together an installation video here: https://youtu.be/zDa8_A1kDe0?si=IRE5nJ3Y8pE5C3_k

Edit: D2R PCVR now has a Discord: https://discord.gg/DmbFfJAnnm

Come by for install help, bug reports, or to share your VR clips. If you try it on a headset we haven't tested yet (Quest 2, Index, Pimax, …), please tell us how it went in #headset-reports.

This is a free and open-source PCVR mod for Diablo II: Resurrected in first person with full motion controls and physical combat. It runs on your PC and streams to the Quest over **Steam Link** or **Virtual Desktop (VDXR)**.

This is still a WIP so any feedback from you guys is greatly appricated :)

Full Pre-Release Video: https://youtu.be/RpqVcaseReI?si=r6UT904UZuEhgRh2

- Draw and fire a bow by hand, and swing melee weapons for real

- Reach over your shoulder to swap weapons

- Raise skeletons and aim spells with your hand

- Drink potions straight off your belt

- Laser-pointer inventory, stash and merchants

- A spells wheel to quickly assign skills/spells to action slots

Setup: double-click the installer, pick Quest 3 and your connection (Steam Link, Virtual Desktop or both), and it creates the Steam shortcuts for you.

Needs your own Steam or BattleNET copy of D2R and a Windows gaming PC. Offline single-player only. Quest 2 should use the same path but hasn't been confirmed yet.

DOWNLOAD FROM RELEASES: https://github.com/bearstonem/d2r-pcvr/releases

FAQ:

- "Will I get banned?" It's for offline single-player only. Injecting code into the game online can get your account banned, so keep it to offline characters and use the normal game for multiplayer.

- "Battle.net version?" Not yet. The preview needs the Steam edition of D2R. BattleNET is now supported.

- "Index / Pimax / Quest Pro?" The installer lets you pick any SteamVR headset, but only Steam Frame and Quest 3 have been tested so far. Please report back if you try one.

- "How is this different from BodyWalkVR's mod?" It builds on their D2R VR. This version renders natively through OpenXR (SteamVR or Virtual Desktop, no BodyWalk/FlatVR needed) and adds the motion combat, physical bow and potions, VR menus and foveated rendering.
