Discussion / Question Why would you cheat in a multiplayer?
Question in title. What is the point on cheating in multiplayer games? What makes "a gamer" to throw away all the challenges, the excitement and the joy of success - and at the same time ruin the match for others - by cheating? You really don't achieve anything or develop as a player.

Kids or kid mentality probably they can't win with their own skills so they have to cheat.

Having a micropenis can be challenging and so a sufferer may do all sorts of things to feel like a big man

The fact cheaters or cheating sympathizers are being upvoted really shows the state of competitive gaming.

Ego. People are afraid of facing their own ego. They all think they're the best, and when they lose, it's never because of their own lack of skill, it's always something else. By cheating you eliminate that, you can just press a button and kill someone or rack up your score to the max. You got that number 1 that you totally deserve. That also leads to the ego growing bigger so you start picking on the beginners "poor little dweebs lmao look at how they rage and fume and seethe and shit while I take all their resources, kill all the NPCs, kill them in 1 hit, etc. I'm so awesome, and they all suck". Instead of facing yourself and improving yourself, you just find a quck and cheap way of satisfying your own ego because you're so much better than everyone else.
Not defending them, mint you, just explaining the mindset.

It's not ego, it's to troll, majority of them don't care about winning or losing, they do it BECAUSE people care about winning and losing.
Infact people care about losing so much everyone's a cheater these days just for being better.
4
u/boersc 20h ago
Oh, but they DO care about winning. They even pay to be able to win. Winning is glory, no matter how.
-2
u/SirSabza 20h ago
Honestly, that's just what people want to believe to make themselves feel better. But the vast majority of time they paid to ruin your experience, not to win.
2
u/boersc 20h ago
Doesn't matter to them, they were the ones that won.
The cheater's mind is simple and it is really easy to explain.
-1
u/SirSabza 20h ago
Again, it's what people say to make themselves feel better.
'cheaters mind is simple' 'cheater pays to win they're so lame' 'cheater can't play the game otjerwise'
It's just all statements people use to make themselves feel better that they lost, and 9/10 they've never even encountered a cheater before. They're so dilusional they don't even know what a cheater is or looks like

They do care about winning. After beating a cheater they rage quit so fast, for example in Halloween. Are they in such a hurry to spoil someone else's night or do they just start smashing their PCs?

u/SirSabza 20h ago
Idk what you're on about here tbh.
Halloween has cheaters, but they're very obvious, and how you described not what the cheats are. Which kinda backs my point people blame everything on cheating when they lose.
If you're saying they execute too quickly. You can press 4 keys on a keyboard in like 0.5 second if you're good at typing.

It's okay to admit someone being better. I'm playing console but my friend is on PC so we're on crossplay lobbies. PC players have advantage because key compinations are simple and console's button spamming takes more time. That's something we have accepted when playing crossplay,
Saw few days back one guy spamming Reality Tear without cooldowns and one random civ knocked Michael down with a flashlight. Those are not about being better.

My wife plays Halloween I don't particularly think pressing the 4 face buttons in a combination is particularly difficult either and can be done very quickly.
The other things you listed are cheats sure

This is why we cheated at CS 20+ years ago in the community server days.
We wouldn’t cheat in our CAL games or scrims, but just fucking around on whatever community server? It was funny to watch people get so upset over a game of deathmatch. The more blatant the better. Like it wasn’t even a competitive game mode, it was 10+ dingdongs a side playing on a map meant for much smaller groups.

u/WofferFang 19h ago
To troll because you feel like you're so much better, to laugh at the "losers", etc. All of that is ego. lol
Cheaters telling me they fucked my mom after getting their ass handed to them speaks for itself.

u/SirSabza 16h ago
Idk what game you're playing for a childish ridiculous response like that, but i used to get called a cheater all the time, in dead by daylight because i used to enjoy cross mapping with hatchets, so i have a very negative opinion of people who accuse people of cheating.
1
u/WofferFang 16h ago
Some people are just really childish I guess. And mind you, I'm not calling people who are actually good cheaters. Sometimes it's very obvious, for example in a fighting game, they will have a script enabled that throws out very specific moves whenever you do certain types of moves. If I catch on, I see it happen, and then they either turn it off and lose, or just rage at me in all the stupidest ways. It's honestly really pathetic. I don't mind trash talk from actual proper players, but coming from a cheater and that cheater losing despite cheating, that's just so pathetic.

They don't care and have the mentality that cheating is actually a legitimate strategy. Most suck at gaming. All they care about is securing a victory. No sportsmanship, no honor, no real skills.

Multiplayer games, NO !! Single player games, YES !!
4
u/jAllukeTTu 20h ago
Single player is okay. You don't mess with other people. It's your game, your save. I also relax playing single player games with unlimited resources etc. Sandbox is fun.

u/Ordinary_Block_4131 20h ago
Absolutely, 💯 hate inventory weight mechanics in some games , so i mostly cheat for that .

Because they're boring and have zero actual skill. It's either streamers desperate for money and attention or man-children in their parents basements trying to earn imaginary internet points by being 'good'.

u/Training-Equal-7647 3h ago
Some want to win and don't care how they do it, others just like to be a pain for strangers.

u/Lordgrapejuice 1h ago
Lots of people truly believe “I’d be amazing if I just had the time to play more” or some other nonsense excuse. They cheat to be where they THINK they should be.
Or they just want the win and don’t give a fuck about how they get it.
Or they just want to make people suffer, because they’re assholes.

To give people like me an excuse for why I keep dying. I'm not bad at the game, it's just full of hackers.
In all seriousness though, probably ego. When I was a kid I installed cheats for a couple of matches of Call of Duty 2 and it felt great to just be annihilating everyone. I ended up getting rid though because I ended up feeling really guilty about it and it really did feel like I was just cheating myself out of actually playing the game.

u/AlternativeDark6686 20h ago
I did the opposite in Call of Duty 4. Messing that with a cheater camping with aimbots.
Spawn as his team, throw grenade then switch team... There was enjoyment in his pain.

u/lj523 18h ago
That's brilliant.

u/AlternativeDark6686 16h ago
Seemed very practical. Won't be playing anytime soon but at least teams could play in peace.

Do you really not know or do you just want to sit on your high horse?
1
u/jAllukeTTu 20h ago
Genuinely asking.

u/CorgiSilver8194 20h ago
People like winning. Even when they suck.
It's not rocket science

That's not the part that's hard to understand. The part that's hard to understand is how they don't feel embarrassed with themselves and pathetic for not being able to be good on their own. Every win is stolen from themselves. And so they will never feel the actual accomplishment. Idk, that's wack lol.
It's like drinking non alcoholic beer and pretending to get drunk. If you're gonna do it, just do it for real. What if you're some awesome player and you never know it because you wanted to cheat instead of putting in the work? They are only cheating themselves.
The sad thing is, the other players may not know who they are but they themselves do. Every time they look in the mirror, they can not escape themselves. And the reality is a cheating loser.

u/andres8989 20h ago
That's it—winning is fun, too.
When I was little, I used them in Minecraft, and it was actually fun.
-1
u/SirSabza 20h ago
The only thing you care about is the fact theu cheated not why they do it.
Everything you listed has absolutely nothing to do with why most cheat. They cheat because it makes people mad.

For a lot of people *winning* matters more than *fairness*. They don't care if the cheat makes the game worse for everyone, just that they're on top of the pile when it's over. It's not even a matter of skill, just ensuring complete and utter domination with no way for their opponents to resist.
And yes, it is a really bad mindset to have.
