Am playing the original RE2 and RE3 for my October horror games.
I liked RE2 (about as much as the remake, hard to say which one is better as they both kind of have their strengths and weaknesses). The original RE2 has the better story, atmosphere, replayability, and music while the remake has better overall gameplay, level/enemy design, and voice acting.
Currently in the middle of RE3 and tbh I'm not a super big fan. Exploring the streets of Racoon City just simply isn't that exciting compared to Spencer Mansion and the RPD and the best part of the game so far is the RPD that is literally recycled from RE2 lol. Nemesis also felt underwhelming and while a little better here than in the remake, still feels much more scripted than some RE fans would have me believe. At the risk of bringing downvotes, I dare say I like the remake better in a lot of aspects.

I feel like the original RE2 vs remake debate is one of those rare cases where both sides are right. The original nails the atmosphere, but the remake somehow makes ONE regular zombie feel like a boss fight 💀
