For someone who doesn't know much about the game, I'm intrigued by people's response to this. Is this like a killing the person you love kind of scenario? If yes, what is the outcome that shocks people so much?
Without giving too much away, based on multiple different decisions you make along the way you either kill her or turn her over to assholes or let her go but none feel like the right decision
I am doing that ending now since it's the last one I need, but it feels so right to just say fuck it and live your time you got with Panam. But Don't Fear the Reaper is the most satisfying I thing because it's a pure murder fest for like an hour ish lol
I forget exactly which variant it was tied to - but there's kind of a non-ending coda that was so whelming and kind of empty feeling that it also perfectly summed up the genre and your story arc. In some ways it felt more perfect by being so understated and lame than the endings in the original game. And the original endings all hit like trucks too.
Definitely a game that had me stuck thinking about it for weeks afterwards.
To keep it as vague as possible, a nuclear bomb got sentience and you go along her journey of discovery. There are a few options in the end, none of them are good.
I'd have to give it to sleeping dogs, not only did wei lose jackie when he was just buried alive earlier, but he didn't get a chance to at least have a clean slate with jiu mei, he even lost both Winston and peggy at their wedding, and even before the events of the game, his sister overdosed and died, and then out of grief his own mother took her own life leaving wei alone, i can only imagine how things would've turned if at least jackie made it out alive and well if it weren't for big smile lee having him killed off.
That was the one I got first try. I haven’t done any of the others yet, and I’m avoiding as many spoilers as possible. Can’t say for sure, but damn do I feel like I fucked up.
it's a hot take but i think it's the best ending from a narrative and emotional storytelling perspective. just fits Night City's theme of no happy endings better too
Only time I've ever felt that feeling of loss during a video game. You know, that feeling you get when you finish a great book series or a great tv show and you miss the characters immediately.
The first time I played, I didn't realize the conversation with Reed is the end of the game, so I kept negotiating with him and he took So Mi and Johnny comes out and calls me a sellout and I was like wait, that was the end??? And I reloaded the save to send her to the moon.
its what i love about PL credits with the base game credit you're with all the calls but PL your left by yourself alone with the choice you made and the credit song
The animation and the song were fantastic. Just lets you sit there with a condensed version of the story you just played through, processing the ultimate consequence of your choices. My favorite thing about PL is that it always keeps the player in the dark just enough that their only reliable guide is their own convictions and principles, which will be challenged again and agaih. A long series of hard choices that force you to do what you think is best and hope you can live with the results. What a fucking masterpiece
I played PL through after my first ending and when the game reverts back to the street maps after I just felt so hollow that I quick traveled to the nearest apartment I owned and just sat down listening to Samurai and feeling sorry for myself.
Same! SPOILER WARNING! : I chose the option where V chooses the surgery and returns back into Night City as a nobody. It was very strange watching him wondering off into sea of NPCs
I’m yet to play PL. But the ending that I chose left me looking at the screen for a while thinking “what a great, realistic way to end a game” and The phone calls during the credits. Fuck man
Same but I chose to be cured. Said goodbye to Johnny but then realized I pretty much said goodbye to everyone in my life after they left you. Now I was just another body in Night City. Life goes on.
First play through, I knew nothing about the game at all since I don't really follow video game news. Played it on a recommendation months after it initially dropped.
The end of Konpeki(the prologue?) wrecked me and I put the game down for a day.
Then the first time I beat it, I got The Devil because in my head I didn't want to call in the Nomads because I figured most of them would die if I did so.
Cyberpunk was such a good game. If you ever need to feel better do the "dont fear the reaper" ending. When you go guns blazing with Johnny its bad ass. Never do the suicide route. Its so freaking sad.
Its easy to do the suicide ending. Basically pick all the depressing dialog. Its pretty sad. Everyone calls you and basically say how they miss you. How they understand why they did it and wish you could have found another way. Vic is the saddest one and it really shows you how much of a real one he is.
