Discussion / Question What game is this for you?

Post image

Honestly for me it's Life is Strange: True Colors. Love that game to death, an incredible story and soundtrack, but it seems like a story that just doesn't vibe well with a lot of people. Listen to the soundtrack though, absolutely increible.

Yeah I can’t even properly explain the appeal to someone who doesn’t already know what it is.

"I like games that are difficult because they're overly complicated just to be detailed. Playing the game is like taking a puzzle box apart, but no part feels redundant or pointless. The puzzle box makes sense to itself. This is why I like Dwarf Fortress"

Same goes for Rimworld. When I've tried to explain it people just look at me like I'm nuts. Although that might because I often tell the story of my chickens that were my only food source during a nuclear winter, cold snap, toxic fallout chain of events that drank all 3,000+ beers and died of liver failure Dooming the colony to starve

I highly recommend this documentary about Boatmurdered if you like Dwarf Fortress.

I have thousands of hours in rimworld so I thought I'd like dwarf fortress. I tried the free version for a bit and I felt like I was overdosing on prescription medication

maybe the steam version will pair better with my shitfucked brain, when I can afford it

The steam version is way more approachable, has a ton of QoL features not in the free version and the GUI is a huge improvement.

As a Rimworld enjoyer, have you played Kenshi?

Not the person you are replying to, but I'm a big Rimworld player, and bought Kenshi because of the common recommendations for Rimworld players.

Kenshi looks like a game I should have 1000+ hours on, but I just can't get over the learning curve when I could just go play Rimworld or Factorio instead

I implore your to give it another try. Don't spoil anything with a guide, just use the tutorials and get at least one other squad member ASAP. I truly believe it will be like a light switch going off eventually.

My work around is I keep gifting the game to friends. I know a lot of them will bounce off it, but some will get it and understand the magic of the game.

Can you gift me, kind Dorf?

I recommend DF to anyone who will listen and not walk away.
