Discussion / Question What game is this for you?

Post image

Honestly for me it's Life is Strange: True Colors. Love that game to death, an incredible story and soundtrack, but it seems like a story that just doesn't vibe well with a lot of people. Listen to the soundtrack though, absolutely increible.

The FFXIII trilogy. I really enjoyed it. But I didn’t really start to love it until the second game so it’s hard to recommend.

There are people that skipped the first game and still enjoyed the second just fine. Still sucks those games need a caveat to enjoy them, though.

Came looking for this one, 13 was my first FF and i wear that "first title nostalgia" badge with pride. i don't care what anyone has to say, i love those games

I might be one of the few long time FF fans that enjoyed XIII. The critique of its linearity rings hollow if you enjoyed X, which is my favourite. I enjoy the story, the characters, and I find the worlds of Cocoon and Gran Pulse fascinating

I definitely need to replay the trilogy soon

Even more so when you look at what was popular at the time and note how Bethesda RPGs were the hottest new attraction.

I would happily recommend 13 to anyone

I love the FFXIII trilogy, each one is different from the others but still feel like the same universe. It's the story of increasingly powerful gods trying to use Lightning and her going "fuck you, I am going to use the power you gave me to kick your ass."

Lightning is freakin awesome, I loved the first game. Which I still had the collectors edition guide 😭

13-2 and LR are perfectly fine to recommend imo. much of 13 is retconned or ignored in 13-2 anyway. the first game is difficult to recommend since even though it has more or less the same gameplay loop as FF10, the annoying characters (snow in particular) and desolate world are not things just anyone can tolerate.

I love the first one. Hated the second so much I never finished, but I knew what the ending would be anyway, so I wasn't super upset about it. I had a hell of a good time with the third game. Loved the time mechanic even though I fully expected to hate it.

Had a spirited discussion with some FC friends on FFXIV about 13 once. Someone said that it was too linear and didn't explain the world early on, so they didn't understand the story. I called BS on that. 13 isn't any more or less linear than half the franchise and most of the games don't just drop everything about the world on your plate in one go.

Its an interesting experiments, especially third one with time mechanics. But yeah, niche, and first one is such a boring cliche that only looks nice, and with combat where game plays itself, so it is a miracle they did another 2 after that.
