Discussion / Question What game is this for you?

Post image

Honestly for me it's Life is Strange: True Colors. Love that game to death, an incredible story and soundtrack, but it seems like a story that just doesn't vibe well with a lot of people. Listen to the soundtrack though, absolutely increible.

Probably the first Nioh. It’s one of my all time favorites , maybe my absolute number one favorite game ever

But it is such a difficult, obtuse game that is profoundly unwelcoming to new players and has a degree of challenge and brutality that could potentially turn off even people who consider themselves hardcore action game fans or even soulslike fans

As much as I love it I just know it’s not a game that the majority of people will enjoy so it’s not one I’m frequently recommending

Is it harder than Dark Souls? Been thinking about picking this one up for PS3

It’s not on ps3. I’d say it’s probably harder than ds1 but it’s hard in a different way like Nioh is honestly barely a soulslike lol it’s just we’re 10 years in now and locked into that comparison

It’s extremely combat oriented and handles combat in a way that’s more complex than any of the souls games

I want the plat so bad but after taking a break for years and needing to do those combination boss fights?, I just can't. I warm back up to the controls pretty fast sure but actually completing those fights is wild.
I always try to beat Shiva+Samurai Soul boss fight and it's impossible.
And it's been so long since I played regular I can't even remember the best farming map, where dangerous enemies are hiding, any of that. I had it all memorized at one point.

Yeah those double boss fights are literal cancer lol

I do recommend it but only after someone has played all traditional souls games (mainly all from games). Once they are done with that, they could either prepare themselves with other souls-like or jump straight into Nioh, but only then, because it really is hard at the beginning

I don’t see how playing all the fromsoft games would even necessarily help, Nioh is pretty mechanically dissimilar to all of them

Yeah, this. Nioh is barely a Souls-like. It has more in common with Ninja Gaiden than it does with Souls-like games.

It's like if Ninja Gaiden and Diablo had a kid.

But the base mechanics are there. Nioh 1 gets a lot of inspiration from DS2 so if not all of them at least some of them, but just one or none is going to make everything worse. Imo if you haven't played the others there are high chances you won't have the same patience you had with the other games to stay and improve.

Ehhh ds2 is my favorite souls and I just don’t really see that comparison either lol I mean I guess I agree that at a base level, playing a lot of these games will likely improve your patience and inherent skill
