Wearing pajamas in public isn't wrong or disrespectful

There's nothing wrong with wearing pajamas to the store, park, casual restaurant, or really anywhere that doesn't have a posted dress code. As long as someone is appropriately covered and not offending children, there's no valid reason to care what other people are wearing.

People act like wearing pajamas to the grocery store is a personal insult, when really it's the opposite. What is insulting is judging others by what they wear. I'm here to be comfortable, not to please your standards ripped straight out of the 50s.

I've been told my standards are low for this perspective and frankly I take that as a compliment. You should never set standards on how other people dress.

Do you think they're changing from their sleeping pyjamas to their going out pyjamas. Of course they wore them to bed.

I was just saying in another comment, I never ever wear pj pants to bed. I don't go out in then either, but if i could, they would be just like any other pants. But I don't think that's the case with most people who actually do wear them in public, I've definitely seen some pjs that shoud have been burned.

...I do actually do that. I never sleep in my going out clothes and I never go out in my sleeping clothes.

Actually I'm kinda confused by what you guys even mean by pajamas, I personally wear these joggers which are really comfortable and made of this thick cotton material. Does that count as pajamas?

Ditto. We never wore clothes from outside in the bed. You change to go out and come in. My pjs are shorts and t-shirts because it's too hot for pants. I can count on one finger the amount of times I've worn my pj shorts out, and it was to get Dairy Queen at 11pm. And I changed when I got back.

All of my sweatpants would never get worn if I wore them exclusively to bed. Many people ITT pretending they've never worn sweatpants to run an errand, walk the dog, or check the mail.

Yes, I assumed that. If I’m at home all day, when I wake up I’ll usually put on a hoodie and some sweatpants. Then if I’m going outside I change into something more presentable.

I always assumed when I read these conversations (I don’t see it irl) that people had day pyjamas (the equivalent of my sweatpants and hoodie) and night pyjamas, and just didn’t change out of their day pyjamas to go outside.

Pfft shows what you know, I sleep starkers and my PJs are exclusively for hanging out and running errands

On occasions where I do spend the whole day at home, I do have day pyjamas and night pyjamas. Would never wear them out of the house tho.
