I am beyond blessed to give Aho (Mississippi Map) and Nino (Ouachita map) this 300-gallon pond with basking deck. From individual 75-gallon aquariums to this.

If you have the climate (8a here), the ability (my FIL is awesome!), and the means, I hope this gives you some inspiration.

Rate My Setup I adopted a turtle from a friend. Meet Lasagna and his new home.

I’ve sent the last few months building a custom stand and book shelves for a turtle that I adopted from a friend. He was in a pretty small enclosure before so this is definitely an upgrade but I want to make sure I have everything dialed in appropriately.

I think he is a yellow eared slider but not 100% sure.

Here is what I have so far…
-75 gallon aquarium
-Basking platform
-Dual lamp enclosure
-40 watt heat lamp - this has been difficult but it’s currently registering ~90 degrees
-UV bulb (Zoo Med ReptiSun 5.0 Mini Compact Fluorescent Lamp 13 Watts)- this one I’m most concerned about because I am not sure how to measure whether it’s too little or too much.
-water heater
-Fluval 407 filter
-Misc includes driftwood, river rock, sand, back scratcher, rubber ball for lettuce
-Bubbler

Anything I’m missing?

This is Burger! He's an RES. His filter burned out a while back while we were low on money so he went through a rough patch hence the shell, but we recently bought him a 100gallon stock tank, and I built him a custom filter line and threw some activated carbon and bacteria. He also can get up to the window, he loves window time! I'm also about to start adding fish liver oil to his food to help with his stuck scute shed. If you have any questions or advice feel free, otherwise enjoy my Turtle Burger!

It’s not perfect yet, but oh it has been a journey.

Meet Bug, our ~2 year old RES. He’s been ours for a little over a month now. We got him from a family friend who found him injured and kept him (they’re invasive in our state). She rehomed him to us as she was a bit overwhelmed with other pets. So we became turtle parents and started learning all there is. This thread has helped so much, its a much bigger undertaking than I would have imagined, but its also so meaningful and fun.

So we’re settling on this as the temporary home until getting the full size tank for his full grown size. I know it’s not ideal in all the ways, but it’s such an upgrade from the conditions we got him in (see last pic). The first few days in the big tank it was like he had to learn how to swim. Then the next thing was putting in good lights cause he came with a combo UVA/UVB bulb and I learned those aren’t good.

So after waiting on deliveries and problem solving how to affix things to the top of the tank, finally finally he’s in and he got on the new basking log (he hasn’t basked in like a week cause he didn’t like the old one and the light wasn’t good enough). Seeing him bask today on the log, my heart is warm. So much work has paid off. I wanted to share it with this community. Please enjoy his little leg stretches :)

already posted in acquariums but maybe here it's more useful, sorry if double posting isn't allowed but i need help quikly

Hello everyone! i have this problem i belive, a co-worker of me is going to buy 2-3 water turtles pet (the common ones sold in gardens) to put them in this fountain (that isn't working) with no filter nor heater; they know the turtles need a basking spot and they are going to clean the water before adding them (it is under two cedar).
I don't know how many liters the fountain is (second and third picture are here if someone wanna do the math).

i have some concerns about:
1- volume of water
2- need of a filter/water change
3- temperature of water (now we have 30°c outside but in few months it's going to be cold)
4- the color of the fountain makes me think it is made of copper

can a few turtles live there? can they survive?
i don't thik i can change their mind. they told me they will move them when it's winter.

i'm the one bringing one of them to the pet store.

90 gallons. 110 fluval filter. Uv filter, heater, dual basking lights. Sand filled nest. Live foliage. There are a few dozen feeder fish that just thrive and they munch on from time to time. Some neons and a plecco. After reading some comments on here, definitely seeing some opportunities. Some of the rocks are a bit too small. There are 2 map turtles. Both 4 years old, one male one female. I see that may be an issue, but they are truly inseparable and no hostility beyond the male getting a bit randy and tapping her face and riding on her back as often as he can. They usually bask together with no issues. Be interested in some feedback.

I'm also not sure about the water level. I've added more water to this tank in the past but she seemed to freak out when it was too deep.

She seems a lot more comfortable with the water level being just high enough for her to swim and low enough for her sit with her nose sticking out to breathe.

She also refuses to eat outside of the tank. I've tried a separate feeding container but she flat out refused to eat like that for over a week. So now I feed her right in her tank every few days. Is that okay?

TIA for any advice to enhance her life!

Rate My Setup Update to neglected turtle!

A couple of days ago I posted about adopting a neglected turtle from one of my social work clients. He was living in a 20-gallon long with just a few inches of water, no filter, no basking area, no heater, no heat lamp, and no UVB. :( I was totally freaked out, but you guys helped me figure out what to do.

I wanted to share an update on his new living quarters! He just moved into his 75-gallon tank, and I went for a natural look. I think he’s really loving it. I was planning to wait until the plants rooted before moving him, but we had a little incident… The platies he was living with went into shock after a drastic temperature change. He ended up attacking one of them, so I moved him right away. I had to humanely euthanize the injured fish and fed him the remains, which I still feel really bad about. Thankfully, the rest of the fish bounced back. This is my first time keeping both fish and a turtle, so I’m definitely learning a lot as I go.

More plants are on the way, but for now he’s got an Oase Biomaster 600 canister filter, a heat lamp, UVB/A strip light, and some ghost shrimp. He also had a check-up with an exotics vet—besides some mild MBD and being a little underweight, he’s doing pretty well.

Thanks to everyone who helped me get this far! Fingers crossed he doesn’t destroy all the plants. I really thought he was “different” because he ignored fish before, but once they slowed down—BAM, he went for them. I’ve been trying to get him to eat veggies, but he refuses. Bad for him, but at least good for my planted tank goals lol. Hopefully the plants survive 🥲 I’ve included pics of his old setup before I rescued him.

Rate My Setup Is this good enough for a mud turtle

I had to remove a piece of driftwood and this is his setup now. He is an eastern mud turtle. Do yall think this is enough places for him to climb and rest. He seems fine to me. He rests on the ramp, the platform that's suction cupped to the back, and sometimes he will put hang onto the filter tubing and float near the top.
