Turtle ID/Sex Request Need help Identifying turtle

Hello, my family was gifted this turtle, and I plan on getting all the equipment and space he or she needs. However, I'm having trouble figuring out what species this one is. The shell is about 6" long Can anyone advise?

Dear Designer-Intention50 ,

You've selected the Turtle ID/Sex Request Flair. When making a request for an ID or sex of a turtle, please provide as much information as possible.

Useful information includes:

  • General Location. ex: South-East Texas
  • Is it wild, captive/pet, or a rescue?
  • Clear photos of face, neck, limbs, shell top (carapace) and bottom (plastron).
  • For sexing, a photo of the tail out with cloaca visible is best. Note: Some turtles cannot be accurately sexed until a certain size/age.

I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please contact the moderators of this subreddit if you have any questions or concerns.

It's some kind of slider but there peeps on here that help ya out. I do see this baby has had a hard time from loosing parts of his shell it's been thru. Almost dog mauling kinda. Good luck🐢

can you get pictures of the underside of the shell and/or sides of the face? the raised shell bits seem like stuck shed, dont try to pull it off, it hurts them to rip them off early, but you can scratch its back if it seems comftable with you to help it aliviate some of it, or get it a suction cup brush
