Open Discussion Was Lady Maud an incarnation of the Curse of Demise?

I'm not getting into the whole thing about if he literally reincarnates, vaguely incarnates his will, or if he was just speaking figuratively. I've seen a bunch of different claims for that, so I'm not sure which it is.

I'm just curious about this specific aspect. If we assume that a bunch of the villains in the series are somehow connected to Demise's curse, does this open up the possibility that Lady Maud was an incarnation?

I'm not sure that there would even have to be a single incarnation, since I've seen some people say that the Japanese concept of incarnation/reincarnation doesn't really work that way, but Ganon wouldn't be a problem even if it was. As of TFH, he seems to be dead. Yuga summoned him from... somewhere to fuse with, but Ganon didn't seem to have any consciousness or agency in this fusion. TFH is a sequel to ALBW and features the same Link, so Ganon's status has presumably not changed between the two games.

So is Lady Maud an incarnation of Demise/Demise's curse?

Demise itself does not reincarnate. Its his hatred and the demon tribe that follow the blood of the goddess and the spirit/courage of the hero for all time.

It could be interpretated differently, but i think that not all bad stuff has to stem from the demon tribe/demise hatred, would make the world feel smaller.

So while Lady Maud may be influenced by thr curse, i think that she would have been bad no matter what.

I think it's more compelling if other kingdoms have their own evils to deal with. Makes the world feel more expansive.

I'm gonna say it's ambiguous and the answer depends on how exactly you interpret the Curse of the Demon Tribe. If you view the curse as a literal "I have placed a curse upon the bloodline of the hero and goddess and it will cause a demon king to spawn alongside your reincarnations and that demon king is ganon" then the answer is going to be no, because she's not Ganon.

If you interpret the Curse of the Demon Tribe more along the lines of "the hatred towards the gods is inherent to the Demon Tribe and so long as they exist, evil demonic forces will continue to harass the world occupied by the hero and goddess's descendants" then I do think Lady Maud could qualify.

Maybe a goofy comparison but this might come down to if you think Vaati qualifies. If you think Vaati qualifies as a manifestation of this "curse" then I think you can say Lady Maud also does. If you don't, then she probably doesn't.

No I don't think so. Notably, her motivations (vanity) are totally different from Demise's spawn (lust for power).

I like Lady Maud a lot, not necessarily because of her portrayal but moreso because of what she brings to the table. She's one of the only villains in the entire series that isn't out for world domination and that means there are many, many possible directions they could take her character that we have never seen in the series, should they bring her back.

Demise hatred reincarnates as an individual filled with malice towards hyrule and its royal family and hero, as well as the gods. I think a theory could be that all the villains that have threatened hyrule are manifestations of that malice. I dont know if it would go to other kingdoms though, as Demise says that the incarnation of his hatred will forever haunt the bloodline of the goddess and the spirit of her chosen hero. Majoras Mask is sorta implied to be a demonic beimg sealed in the mask, and it takes place in termina which isn't part of hyrule, therefore I think it is its own thing. Same goes for Bellum from Phantom Hourglass, as its sort of a primordial entity and is threatening the world of the ocean king, which is supposed to outside of the great sea region. I would say the same goes for spirit tracks, but tetra is part of the og hyrule bloodline, so her descendant in spirit tracks is still connected to the goddess. Plus chancellor Cole makes it clear he is part of the demon tribe along with maladus. I dont think Maud would be a part of it, as Hytopia isn't originally part of Hyrule and its royal family has no connection to that of hyrule.

She is no more, nor less, connected to it as anyone other character in the series
