Facebook DMs Date Gone Wrong - Not Sure How to Feel?

I met a woman on FB dating and we agreed to get mexican food.

I drove over, walked up, and she instantly took offense to my nose piercing. (They are in my profile pictures).

We were both hungry and I offered to still pay for dinner despite her distaste, but she noped out and said she was leaving.

I’m genuinely not sure how to feel. Admittedly, it did hurt my feelings slightly. On the other hand, I’ve also just learned not to care anymore.

Screenshots are of what she had to say after it happened.

I guess I’m just sharing this because I’d like to hear other opinion.

I have a nose piercing and I dont understand why people go out of their way to swipe on me on apps just to tell me Id look better without it. Like, why waste either of our times? Also, do they think Im going to be like "okay hold on", take my piercing out, post all new photos, and then hook up with them for saying that to me?

It seems like the only thing you really missed out on in this situation was food. She sounds like a loser that likes putting others down. Block her and try again.

I’m 37 with a nose ring and I love it, I’ll wear it til I’m 80!

I want one but I am too much of a wussy to ever pull the trigger on it. While I don’t like people that judge others over aesthetic appearances it’s nice that they let themselves be known pretty quickly. All the easier to avoid them.

They have ones you can wear without actually getting your nose pierced, just FYI.

Yep. I’ve recently started dating someone who has a septum ring. I don’t like it at all, she looks so much prettier in her “before” pictures.

But who cares? It makes her happy, and it’s not hurting anything.

If she asks me for my honest opinion on it one day, I’d gently share that it’s not my thing, but that I’m glad it makes her happy.

And if she never asks, then she doesn’t want to know and I shut up.

i got married 2 days ago. i'm 33 and he's 36.
we exchanged seamless rings for our septum piercings instead of wedding bands. (they each were 14+ years old and we both needed new ones.)

something that really struck a chord with me when we first met was that we had the exact same piercing (stretched septum) and exact same jewelry (seamless hinged ring).

i can't imagine we'd have gotten this far if my nose ring had been an issue for him or vice versa. i think both of us will be buried in ours.

I’m 39 and debating on getting a nip and a lip piercing like I used to have before becoming a mom.

It’s funny reading “I’m 30 with a septum” then the next line is “fuck those weirdos” lol

-3

They literally do it to try to hurt someone's feelings because they are miserable fucks who can't even pretend not to be a narcissist on a dating site.

“You’d look better without a shirt but here we are”

Agree. My 55 yr old female dr got her nose pierced because she wanted a bonding moment with her kid. Christ wtf is that persons deal? I hope op doesn’t have long lasting PTSD from this encounter.

Also, I look sexy with my nose ring. I do not look nearly as sexy with my nose hole lol

Cuz they want to see you without it; most people consider subtley insidious demands to be how relationships work thanks to a number of factors.

Blows my mind.

I don’t have any tattoos or piercings. Don’t want any. In private, I would say that I think they generally look neutral to me on most people, bad on some, good on some.

But I would never say a word about that to someone on a first or second or third date. Absolutely bizarre behavior.

For that matter I wouldn’t say someone’s clothes choice was poor, or their hair style was off or any of that. And that’s less of an obvious identity thing than piercings.

Either I find the person attractive or I don’t. If a piercing is a turn off, then it’s just a chemistry problem, not a piercing problem.

Fr. I’m not into some of the bigger body modifications but it’s insane to match with someone who has them and proceed to insult their self-expression.

It’s the “your bean soup recipe is bad because I don’t like beans” thing but with a human person💀

I’ll give my opinion on them, but I’m not criticizing them or judging. My thoughts: they’re weird, submissive things that make you look like you came from a 1980s movie. It’s a real turn off, even when I see a young, cute girl wearing them. I wonder what’s wrong with her head because she has those piercings.

That said, the girl from the post was inexcusably rude.

I wonder what’s wrong with people when they think people only get piercings because something is wrong with them, so… same?

Submissive? Have I miss the memo on this?
