It’s uncomfortable for some to recognize how much their worldview was being fed to them wholesale by an adversary.

I mean,. it's been in the news the last 10 years, bots, algorithms, dark patterns, all kinds of crap states and corporations pull on is just to manipulate us. I don't think it's somekind of news

Edit, if ppl think this is somehow a unique Russian thing, yeah I have got news for you

And those are just the ones that actually choose to be counted as bots, not the ones trying to appear as a human.

So this is kinda interesting. A huge slice of the bot traffic in the US is from Virginia.

I can’t put an image here but you can look at the link and see it yourself. 28% in the last week.
Next closest is Cali at something like 11%. What’s in Virginia? Govt shit?

Obviously there are government departments/agencies in Virginia, but there's tons of potential sources in the state that are non-government. For example:

  • AWS US East 1
  • Google US East 4
  • MS Azure East US and East US 2

Plus there's tons of data centers for colocation and companies that aren't at the top of the tech food chain. Virginia just has a ton of data centers.

Biggest naval base in the world is in Norfolk.
