Discussion Bachelors in information systems and business analytics
I have my bachelors and currently work at aws as a data tech but i have been trying to pivot into data analytics and more of that route. I’ve started looking into supply chain management as well. I’ve never thought about it until more recently, is their analytics and stuff like that in supply chain jobs? Also is the pay worth it? My goal was to climb up to data engineer/ data science but i’m becoming more drawn to also applying for supply chain jobs

Lol yes, analytics is everywhere in SCM. Demand planning, S&OP, logistics analysis - it's data work where you can actually see the business impact. Coming from AWS you'd be ahead of most of the field already.

What have you been applying to?

anything in supply chain management, or anything with the title analyst or data in it😂. The job market in the areas i’m applying to is kind of dry rn. I dabble with other states but i’d rather stay where im at

do you have recommendations for job titles to search for as well?

Anything SCM related with scheduler or planner in it
Maybe purchaser/buyer roles as well, some are more analytics based while some are more simply administrative

There is data behind a lot of what businesses do. I work in supply chain management, and my best friend works on the supply chain data analytics side. He has also worked on the marketing data analytics side. He is currently a Senior Director of Data Analytics. He is north of $250K + equity + bonus. He has 20 years of experience. But he hires straight from college with a range of 80K-90K. If you have 2 or more years of meaningful experience though, you will make 100K-125K.

do you know if he is currently hiring and where is he located? I’d be more than happy to apply. I am at aws rn as a data center tech and can grind this path out to reach a analytics team in a year or so but i’d rather jump jobs straight to analytics

There are a lot of jobs out there. There are many routes you can take. The strongest route and the most lucrative route, is being able to apply one's business skills with their data science skills. To speak both the business and the technology/science is very lucrative.
Look on job boards for the following roles: data scientists, data analysts. You may also want to look at these roles as well, supply chain analysts, logistic analysts, demand planner, forecast analysts. They aren't data science roles, but data science teams will pull from these positions internally to fill positions at times.
You may have to move.
Good luck.

Lol literally my two worlds. Can confirm data skills + SCM is a strong combo. Tons of demand planning and analytics roles out there, and pay scales up well once you get into planning/s&op territory.
