General Discusson Soundcloud website performance has rapdily declined
Since SC deployed their new style UI have noticed several bugs and performance issues
- Pages fail to load anything - sometime I just get the top menu bar and no contect
- bugs in posting comments. it won't let me post as the comment does nothing, then when i refresh the page it has posted it multiple times
- Waveform not moving along with the sound
- Slow pages loads
I've tried multiple devices from different locations to rule out if it's me or my devices and seems to the SC not anything my side.
I work in IT and can only assume they have not got any real kind of monitoring to alert them that these things are failing and killing the user experience. Along with that how can these bug get through testing before release.

It’s crazy because it was working great for awhile. I loved the new features, and my issues with downloads were all but nonexistent. Then I get banned for a week. I come back and the website was running so badly I think it almost bricked my pc. It was using so much ram/cpu in the mini player of opera gx. I deleted it and works fine now though. I’m happy SC is making improvements, but I would hope they get their stuff together asap.
EDIT:The pc issue might have been misattributed, because I’m realizing that my “slow” pc was actually just my 3 1/2 year old mouse breaking down on me. It HAS been buggy lately, but NOT brick my PC BUGGY.

When SoundCloud is minimized or I leave the app in the background for about 10 minutes while a track is either paused or playing,
reopening the app triggers a blocking bug where, if I go straight to my Liked Tracks list and tap on a different track, it categorically refuses to play,
staying silent or looping in place without ever producing any sound;
the only way I've found to unblock it without force-closing the app is to leave the Liked Tracks screen,
go to the Home tab, manually pull-to-refresh, then go back into Liked Tracks and tap the track again,
at which point it finally starts playing normally, but this workaround itself is unreliable since sometimes even after refreshing the bug is still there;
this happens fairly frequently though not every single time, and I've reproduced it identically on two separate devices (a phone and a tablet) using the same account,
which rules out a device-specific issue, and SoundCloud's official status page shows no reported incidents right now so it doesn't seem to be a server-side outage either;
on top of this I'm also seeing other display bugs happening around the same time, like comments not showing up and the artist name not displaying on tracks,
which makes me think there might be a broader regression in the app rather than just this one isolated playback issue.
Sorry for the long ahh paragraph tho

It's super frustrating. Why am I paying a Go+ sub if the website just doesn't load song pages on a playlist.

Hey biz-nm,
We're really sorry to hear about the issues noted. Around the time of this post, we had some degraded features that were resolved after a few hours by our engineering team.
We're working hard to minimize similar issues arising again.
Thanks for flagging and our apologies again.

thanks for the reply but it doesn't give us much confidence that issues needed an engineering team to resolve. In today's modern world Platform Engineering and SRE practices are mature enough for you to be able to detect and self heal user impacting issues. Most enterprise organizations follow this pattern, I work for a consultancy that helps teams adopt this model, if you DM me then maybe we can offer to some services to review the recent changes to help identify gaps that will help to improve reliability for everyone. It's not just these issues that are the problem I have seen lots of post regarding missing royalties, lack of support via ticketing system. Overall the sentiment from the user base, listeners and artists is very very poor. You need to do something and fast to restore confidence or risk being usurped

We hear you, and we totally get why it's frustrating when things aren't working smoothly. While modern engineering and SRE setups do a lot to keep things running behind the scenes, complex systems still hit unexpected bumps during major updates. When that happens, having our engineering team step in directly ensures we fix the root cause properly rather than applying a temporary patch.

mmm interesting, so you would rather have user experience suffer to a prolonged period of time instead of applying a temporary patch to get things operational again and then alongside that working on a permanent fix that can be reviewed, tested and maybe Blue/Green tested for stability.
Things are still 'buggy' I just uploaded a track and when I hit 'view track' it took me to the upload track page again where you can drag/drop files for upload, that's never happened before.
It sounds like a very difficult upgrade you are going through that is causing a great many users a lot of problems. I am sure that is not the plan so what are you doing to fix these issues. I don't know how much longer I can suffer though the upgrade issues while you figure out what is wrong in production. That's what lower environments are for right?

Yeah the website is super buggy. How ever the mobile I don’t have any issues at all.

I’ve been having some major issues with the app loading comments, literally no comments will load with WiFi or data

yeah its pretty unfortunate they hired incompetent vibe coders for ui redesigns, the site previously had way less issues and was way more snappy pre updates, they should re hire whoever did the old web design to refine and smooth the issues out truthfully, super annoying the volume cursor gets stuck when i want to turn it up or down, such a simple flaw that makes using the site really frustrating, along with all the other issues you listed
