I need help with/using Soundcloud Help please, I think I was attacked

Post image

This looks very sus to me. I went to bed and I woke up to this. One track that had just 1400 plays exploded to 42k, and two other tracks from 300 to 8k each. I think I was attacked deliberately by someone. What should I do? I do not think a person could listen to a track in 6 hours for 2k plus times...that's not possible...6 hours x60 mins that's 360 minutes divine it to 3 that's 120 plays...but 2k plays? Thats bot 200% . What dshould i do?

Edited:

I contacted support and got a very quick reply. Apparently I did get attacked by bots. They gave me advice what to do to mitigate the issue and now things are back to normal.

I dont know why people say SC does not reply, they answered me in max 20mins.

Most of the peps here is the chat we're quick to judge and say things like getting banned.

SC mentioned nothing about any bans, infact they were very helpful and supportive.

@soundcloud thanks for the help

I agree, the numbers look very odd. What would be the benefit for whoever is responsible, and what is the harm for you?

At this point, it can be purposeful sabotage.

Take someone you do not like, do not like what they say in their songs, disagree with politically, who is direct competition in your field, etc. Pay to flood their content with views, listens, plays, watches, etc.

Get their accounts potentially to be flagged or banned by a tech platform that has so many end users that they are in an uphill battle to get past AI chatbots through to real human support to argue their way out.

This happens for example on FB businesses. People hack their competition, make a post that gets flagged for auto-ban, and lock the account/business out, to the point people have to leverage their state attorney general to help them unlock their own account.

Damn, this hit hard. I don't have enemies. I have been on the platform since it started. I never said even one bad word to anyone. But the way you put it in perspective, it makes sense...damn

Yeah, I am not saying you do, but as someone who has consumed a lot of dystopic sci-fi media and works in tech, it is not looking good for artists.

If you put your whole life's work in the hands of another platform, that is all connected to an account that could get flagged by AI review for suspicious activity, whether your fault or not, you could get permabanned and lose everything overnight. This is why if you can build a site or host your own stuff somewhere, you at least somewhat have a corner of the internet to call your own where you actually have control.

I just foresee things getting worse. Companies are getting bought by private equity, employees get laid off to operate on squeezed resources, people get replaced by AI, tech support gets worse, authoritarian governments/cartels can target individuals through nefarious means with little to no repercussions. More bots. More bogus copyright claims over things like Splice loops. Little guys will get crushed by the machine.

Sucks we have to defend ourselves over stupid things now, but that is where we are at. You did everything right by being proactive and it is good that Soundcloud responded quickly, that is somewhat hopeful.

Man...this is gold. As a director for a government tax authority I can confirm most clients are laying off people. Mostly the entry level roles that require 0 to 2 years of experience. Say your call center agents, customer service agents, junior sales people etc...bookings done now by AI and so on. I see where you are getting at. I do have my own website where I call my own. Regardless people that listen to my music since 12+ years need to find me on platforms right? And if this is the case...then we are foked...

I don't know. This never happened to be since 2015 since I have my account. And now I checked my wife account and she is also having the same. All bots from the same pattern, same timings like in the screenshot.

The benefit would be a sale for services that do things like manipulate this man's stats. To the right person and the wrong timing they could convince somebody who's desperate for success very easily by showing them that this is a version of success.

If someone is actually naive enough they will fall suspect to it otherwise these scams would not exist.

I never thought about it this way...but still why me? I am small. I make organic about 90k to 120k plays per month. No ads or anything. I am not big and I am not here for the money. One Russian dude did comment on my account the other day that my voice is shit and that my content is the worst he ever heard then the next day ( yesterday night) I got flooded. I dont think it was him, as I replied in a nice way to him. But now this makes me think about a lot of things.

90-120k plays a month is not what I would call small brother! My account just netted 5k last month after dropping my last EP

Sometimes people bot your songs to advertise their service. Watch for DM's in the next few weeks. All music streaming stuff is not 100% reliable because the of the money involved in the music industry and pay for play and stuff. Spotify do weird things just to keep payments down and they pay next to nothing to almost every artist.

1

u/Otherwise-Debt-6433 Jul 03 '26

But that's the thing, the numbers are crazy high. And all of the DMs i get about such stuff the usual " i am a profesional dancer, I can boost your plays" or " hey I found your track randomly, are you releasing something new soon" or the obvious one " i can boost your plays" i always report them and SC replies back saying they removed the accounts that sent those messages. Now I never announced i will report them or anything. I just report in silence. But I do get your point.

Spotify went down horribly in the past 8 months. I used to have nice income from it. Now it's close to peanuts. That confirms your point. Beatport is still good, at least with me. SC is ok, lower than years ago but still OK. Apple music still ok and amazon music still ok. Again, this is my experience.

u/benny_silver Jul 03 '26

It might not be malicious like the one user mentioned, but more supportive without proper knowledge of how streaming works - a fan or a friend might be trying to help you out by sharing your content and they genuinely believe those buy for bots websites help you out, and were just trying to do good by you. It's unfortunate, but this could be what happened as well

Not saying this is the case, but something to consider because I have seen it happen - and it's happened to me on a smaller level, same platform Soundcloud etc

I have asked everyone, family and friends. None have done this. At least those I could think of. Plus people in general tend to talk and boast about it. None have in 24hrs. However I do get your point. The last posts of people that commented here are nice compared to the early ones saying BAN coming brace etc.

Bots on SoundCloud are diabolical. Can't get any of my music to get over 5 plays because of it

So stupid there is nog customer support

1

u/Otherwise-Debt-6433 Jul 03 '26

In fact I got a reply pretty quick, and they fixed the issue.

3

u/Nowaatmo Jul 03 '26

These dead conversations from these people that don't know anything. Op did everything right And it's not going to get banned because SoundCloud already knows.

"I dont know why people say SC does not reply, they answered me in max 20mins." ... I think it depends on the severity and urgency of the situation. If the answer is in the Knowledge Base, they more than likely won't respond at all.

Never did, never will. Say what you will. SC replied quick and they helped me with the attack.

братан поздравляю ты стал популярнее

Calling it an “attack” sounds schizophrenic. It’s probably like others said, random service providers from foreign countries using their bots to entice you into buying their services. No one. And I mean no one. Is wasting time hacking you to get your page flagged. That’s seriously far fetched and sounds like you should talk to a therapist.

u/Otherwise-Debt-6433 Jul 04 '26

🤣 were you looking in the mirror when you said this? Then decided to write it down? 🤣🤣🤣🤣

1

u/Otherwise-Debt-6433 Jul 04 '26

I saw your comment. Man I think you are the one who needs help. I did not look for you to insult you. You came here insulting. I came here for help or some sort of advice cuz SC was not answering. If you can not be kind and help others then that reflects who you realy are. All those things you wrote, are actually a reflection of who you realy are.

I did not insult you in any way, you came here gunz blazing with Insults looking for attention.

And the nobody you mentioned...man...i am sorry for the pain that caused you to be this way. Perhaps you should go solve your past problems, I guarantee you...once you do that you will discover inner peace. Otherwise you'll always be the things you reflect upon others.

P.s. you are a sad little man

Looks like a ban is on the way bro. Brace yourself

1

u/Otherwise-Debt-6433 Jul 03 '26

But why? I have not done anything. I just woke up to this.

3

u/Nowaatmo Jul 03 '26

Nonsense Don't listen to him especially since you already reached out to SoundCloud and they're fully well familiar with what's going on.

3

u/Otherwise-Debt-6433 Jul 03 '26

Yeah, SC support were very helpful. They even explained what happened and offered me support specifically to this situation. More over it fixed and stopped the attack or what ever it is called.

-2

u/Iceydertbag Jul 03 '26

SoundCloud either shadow bans or ban bans when it comes to being compromised by bots.your fault or not

1

u/Otherwise-Debt-6433 Jul 03 '26

I have my account since more than 10 years. I have contacted support. I can't have bots do this to me.
