General Discusson Buh bye, SoundCloud.

After several weeks of attempting unsuccessfully to distribute a track with the underlying composition in the public domain—resubmitting again and again according to what SoundCloud's AI response said— I finally moved to Amuse. Their process was clear and simple—and my track was approved the next day. They charge about half of what SoundCloud charges for a year's pro subscription, and the artist gets 100% of streaming royalties.

I had successfully distributed only one other track through SoundCloud. I later learned that once you cancel your subscription, they remove your distributed tracks from Spotify, Apple Music, and all other DSPs. (Whereas if you cancel your Amuse subscription, they will leave your tracks up but take a percentage—a larger cut than CD Baby, but then they didn't charge initially for distribution as CD Baby does.)

So I've now had experience distributing tracks with CD Baby, SoundCloud, and Amuse. It's early days, but so far Amuse is looking like a champ. https://www.amuse.io/en/

(And no, I don't work or shill for Amuse. I'm just a musician churning out music.)

Regardless of whether or not you have any affiliation with amuse I think it's important to point out that amuse is clearly not a replacement for soundcloud. They're a distribution service, not a hosting service.

The reason I paid for an account on Soundcloud was to have all my albums available for free download in one location. I mainly use it as a hosting service.

Just saying, bandcamp lets you upload as much material as you want and allows you to set your prices to 0 for free downloads!

(however if too many people download in a month it automatically gets set to paid)

I set everything on Soundcloud as free and put a price on Bandcamp. But I don't find either network very useful. Most of the messages I get are scams intended to target vulnerable people with financial abuse.

Can u set your albums to private? Right now I’m using hosting for applications for artist residencies and apps to things, looking for public release later.

Never heard of amuse i stay on soundcloud with my uplaods. Soundcloud has a way bigger User base. Go on Spotify for full reach

Unlike the title of OP's post might suggest amuse is a distribution service like distrokid, not a hosting platform like soundcloud.

Amuse have sucked since they updated the pro subscription to no longer have infinite artists.

Hi there, thank you for your feedback regarding our support. We sincerely apologize for the experience you had, as it is never our intention to fall short in our distribution services. We understand that you have chosen another option, and we wish you the very best in your musical journey. However, if you could share your support request ticket number with us, I would be happy to review it and respond accordingly.

I've been trying to distribute a track for over a month now. I've raised several support tickets and all of them have been ignored.

The rejection notes say I haven't added the correct language in relation to the lyrics on each track but I have. The lyrics are in English and I've selected English. There is literally nothing I can do.

Can someone at Soundcloud please get back to me. DM me on here to get my ticket number.

It looks like you're going the same way as Juno Downloads, hopefully not but if you are at least give us warning so we can download our mixes etc.

Cheers

Yes, I have sent you a DM, and we will make sure to look at this!

Can you elaborate on the IRSC transfer process please?

Is there something else out there for distribution? It's the same with distrokid. Also I think it's a matter of time Amuse will bump up the prices?

I'm not happy with SoundCloud at all too! There is hardly any support but many bugs seem to occure on a regular basis. Amplify is good advertised, but it's kind of strange how it selects listeners. It seems to not select people with the same langauage or similar tags, but somehow only looks for similiar sounding songs. Not very helpful as local band.

I don't respond directly to trolls, but I'll reiterate that I don't work for or shill for Amuse. (And I regret my snarky headline, as snark invites snark. I'll do better next time.) I shared my experience because I was fed up after several weeks of labor attempting to get SoundCloud to distribute my original arrangement/track of a song written in 1879. I jumped through hoops and submitted several pages of documentation, and each time they came back with AI-written slop. I finally found the well-hidden form to submit a support ticket. Eight days later, there's still no response.

If I run into problems with Amuse, I'll share them here. But right now, I'm very happy with my change of distributor.

Why not use distro kid?

1

u/Prudent_Data1780 Jun 30 '26

Full of A.I shite

2

u/Professional_Life706 Jun 30 '26

What do you mean with ai shit?

2

u/Prudent_Data1780 Jun 30 '26

The ballpark figure for fully AI-generated tracks uploaded through DistroKid is estimated at 10 million to 15 million tracks, per year so it's filling up with it

1

u/Professional_Life706 Jun 30 '26

Achso you don't want to give money to a site that does that I fully understand that decision. Sites like Spotify filter it out afterwards as I understood it but yes that's a pretty big problem

u/Professional_Life706 Jun 30 '26

I literally put it up 3 days later it's on every site idk

Interesting that the first post on this thread is an advert for soundcloud. Amuse sounds interesting, might have to check it out.
