Discussion Do you think that after the current reverse slop enginerring apps , companies will shift to cloud based software?
Companies are already moving to cloud-first models, and the rise of advanced reverse-engineering apps will only accelerate this shift. Local binaries and client-side code are increasingly vulnerable to being decompiled, analyzed, and replicated by automated tools.
To protect intellectual property and safeguard proprietary algorithms, businesses will move critical logic off the user's device. Storing core code on secure, cloud-based servers creates a robust barrier against reverse engineering.

Most of it is not really reverse engineered but re-engineered where the original app is used as a template. So even if they'd try to go all in on cloud based it would just continue. You do not need access to the binaries or the source code for this.
In best AI sloper manner this is almost entirely a misnomer too...

I dont know how many services would really work only done server side. Maybe some physics or hardcore algorithm based moat.
Most moat are large data sets and internal information.
But functionally Llms can copy decisions once expressed. They dont make making decisions easier. But they make copying others easier.
So its a lost cause. You put your service behind closed doors? Im sniffing it out and let llms track it for a few weeks, poke it. Then reverse engeenier it, search for the data sources.
The decisions are made. The target is there. And LLMs fill in the missing pieces, its literally what they were trained for.
So its.. grand theft ip or whatever you want to call it

I think so too, anything to provide a service that cannot be done on one's own device.
But I also think smaller paid apps will disappear, or most likely consolidate. The ones already in distribution will stay, but anyone thinking they can make a quick buck off of pdf readers with ads are going to think twice.
