AI Sharing AI progress in mathematics

OpenAI released 722 mathematical manuscripts across 372 families of related results, produced by an unreleased frontier model. Many have Lean proofs; others remain unverified. Average compute per result: roughly three hours of ChatGPT Pro thinking. They’re working toward releasing the model.

Hmm. Math being the first canary in the coal mine was not what I expected. I kind of assumed it would be call center workers or translators first.

Math cant explain randomness and even if it can, that would mean the concept of math isnt needed. if you want to see the language of the universe, look no further than atom interactions and gravity. I dont see the usefulness in applying fundamental math for something that just appeared out of nowhere with unknown reasons. But the most annoying part is if people repeat the phrase over and over again, just because they climpsed at fractals or Pi too often and think correlation means causation, because of logik or common sense. If you try to math out pain and awareness, you will fail always. If that part isnt math, what does that say about literally anything that exist?

Well it didnt replace mathematicians. Its just like software engineering, getting into the field and getting experience got nuked, bur experts persist and are more important than ever
