For context, H. Rider Haggard was a British author of colonial adventure fiction in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, most famously King Solomon's Mines and She (which eventually ended up getting a crossover).

Anyway, She reflects sexual and gendered anxieties of its era and hasn't aged perfectly. But the basic plot is that two travelers (at least one of whom appears to be a virgin) are on a trip to revisit their past when they get captured by a mysterious, insular group of degenerate foreigners who take them to meet a strange leader with extensive biological expertise, control over life and death, and uncanny powers of seduction. Despite the indiscriminate use of seduction as a means of control, this leader is in love with one specific man, who was previously a dead puppet but has recently come to life. The leader becomes violently protective of this lover, even going so far as to kill potential rivals and to force the man into eternal sexual slavery. Fortunately, the leader dies during a strange ritual gone awry, and the travelers escape. Oh, and somewhere along the line, an attempt at cannibalism occurs.

Seriously, I have wondered for over a decade whether Richard O'Brien was deliberately referencing She or whether the parallels were unintentional. Does anyone else here have thoughts on this?

Hi everyone!! I'm looking for a live showing of Rocky horror in NYC on Halloween night. Not the Broadway one, though that's amazing too! Pls lmk

I have never tried to recreate any costumes before this. I have a few pins in the mail, hopefully I will be able to finish it this week. Trying to figure out how to make the fake leather look more aged.

Popped my cherry last night and had the most phenomenal time!!!!

I can't believe I've gone my whole life without this amazing experience. The cast was killer and the crowd was awesome! The energy is something I'll be high on for quite some time.

A couple pictures of the Jessica Rabbit x Frank outfit I pulled together. ❤️💋

I’m not able to go to the Rocky horror picture show even that has a meet and greet with the original cast member for Magenta (Patricia Quinn). Would anyone be willing to buy off my tickets. It’s a meet and greet with signing, in balboa park, San Diego. I bought them for $200 each, looking for offers!

EDIT:
So sorry forgot to add this, it’s two VIP tickets, middle ish the row in vip section!

Going to see RHPS at the end of this month and can’t wait! This is my costume inspo but I haven’t found much of anyone else wearing this lol anyone else done this look? Wondering how I should approach the shaving cream/mask or if I should just do the regular white face paint

This is just a spectacular breakdown and watching by a Virgin who is also a talented vocal coach and went to school for voice training (I forget where she said), in any case I watched the full thing and it is comprehensive even beyond most Virgin first-watch videos.

And speaking of!!

There are a ton of new RHPS first-time-watching videos now, and spreading as October kicks off.

Most are in the 30min-1hr range, but this is a special case where she watches and shares the uncensored full review.

A lot of the channels say “watch the full review via Patreon”, but I don’t have the spare time & money to watch all those.

Feel free to share other links & channels, if you have also seen Virgin Reaction videos :)

First time I’ve been to one in 25 years. There’s a shadowcast here, in theory - a little disappointed they’re not doing the act.
Fondly remembering my former shadowcastmates.

Yesterday I watched Scary Movie 2 for the first time and I got really excited when I noticed Tim Curry playing in it, but let’s take a closer look here.

(SPOILERS)

He plays a weird lustful Professor who takes his students to a spooky villa in the middle of nowhere, He wants to duck (you know what I mean) his students and even the ghost under the villa

Next up we have a weird butler with a questionable hairline A weird way of serving food And who gets called a handyman

And lastly, both the professor and Frank die in the end

Maybe that’s just me but I love to think of the possibility that they took inspiration from RHPS🥲

Saw this in my Instagram feed this morning, similar to the Rocky live tour, made me think do people agree Hedwig is to 90’s/Millennial kids the way Rocky was to 70s/80s folks? Midnight screenings, cult following, people dress up at screenings?

Girlfriend and I are going to be recreating this look, I'll be Columbia and she'll be Magenta.

I ordered these PJs to start and my GF has plenty of black lingerie to make the Magenta outfit work – just looking for any styling tips/ tips to make the costumes more true to form.

Does anyone know how to go about sourcing those Mickey ears that Columbia has on? If they're authentic and expensive I'll probably opt to paper mache them myself.

For context, my best friend is doing a rocky horror themed birthday. Every year she does a costume party and the expectations are HIGH -

Please help me meet and even exceed her high expectations!
