“I’ll miss you,son” 💔

What a sweet note,RIP RJ.

•

u/ronswansonlovesbacon 2h ago

Heartbreaking. The news truly put a dark cloud over my day..

•

u/strong_heart27 2h ago

This and the roller coaster accident

•

u/supermodel_robot 2h ago

I just found out about the six flags accident and I’m overwhelmed as someone who is chronically ill and also loves rollercoasters. So many things going on, it’s beyond upsetting.

•

u/ronswansonlovesbacon 2h ago

I don’t know about the roller coaster accident and I don’t have the heart to find out.

•

u/Due_Fix_3900 2h ago

Yeah avoid that one for as long as possible

•

u/Heart_robot 2h ago

People posting the pictures is barbaric.

•

u/BORT_licenceplate Repeat we are out of BORT licence plates 2h ago

Even worse is that they're mocking them because their pants slipped down

•

u/Due_Fix_3900 1h ago

That’s awful. It’s an absolute tragedy and that’s just despicable behavior

•

u/taxi_takeoff_landing 1h ago

It’s really awful. Do Six Flags employees not have the capacity to delete those photos before they are seen by anyone else? I’ve heard that if a woman flashes the camera, they are able to keep the photo from being seen or purchased. I wonder why wasn’t that done for this man in his last moments.

•

u/ShinyBredLitwick 1h ago

i was scrolling on Threads and there was what seemed to be a video?! i was able scroll away in time as well as press the “I’m not interested” button, but for fuck’s sake, can we just be respectful and not make a spectacle out of this and allow everyone involved to grieve without attention? let alone how depraved it is to upload a video of someone dying to the internet.

•

u/Heart_robot 38m ago

It’s just so awful for this man’s family, the poor other people who had to see it and the workers and first responders.

•

u/Cass_Cat952 You’re a virgin who can’t drive. 😤 2h ago

Oh man. I'm gonna take your word on that 😬😞

•

u/cheesecakekween 2h ago

When I read that he was on there with his son, my heart absolutely broke even more. As if it wasn’t terrible enough :(

•

u/supermodel_robot 1h ago

I personally know someone who was injured at a theme park because of a similar situation, he was a bystander and someone fell from a ride. He has a lawyer in the family and my god, it was a nightmare beyond the obvious PTSD. I feel for anyone who was at the park and witnessed anything.

Having lost my son to suicide, yeah, the survivor’s guilt is fucking brutal

I'm so sorry for your loss 🫂💔

That survivor's guilt really is terrible. Oh if we could have met, if I would have picked up the phone last week...

•

u/EmotionalSupportVape 2h ago

Yeah that gave me chills

•

u/Stefan988 1h ago edited 1h ago

The what-ifs can be so cruel after someone you know passes. Checking in on others can make a world of difference. You never know the battles someone is fighting behind closed doors 💔

•

u/winnercommawinner 1h ago

A really nice way to check in on someone is to tell them about something that made you think of them, as an opener to the conversation. It works whether you last talked yesterday or a year ago. And it gives the other person a way to really connect when "how are you doing?" is impossible to answer honestly.

•

u/drask1987 1h ago

Ugh, right? So heartbreaking ❤️‍🩹

•

u/yoshi_yoshi23 2h ago

You never know what someone is wrestling with inside. The stigma around mental health struggles remains very real.

•

u/h0neybl0ss0m29 Not parasocial enough for this 2h ago

I was at work when I opened Reddit for the first time in like 8 hours and said “what the fuck?” out loud when I saw RJ passed. This one truly hurts, it doesn’t seem fair.

•

u/MathematicianAfter57 2h ago edited 2h ago

not that it would be less tragic for other reasons, but that he committed suicide partly b/c his financial advisor stole from him is just the absolute worst. may that guy or gal rot in hell.

•

u/revesby9 🫵 You sit on a throne of lies. 2h ago

Imagine taking advantage of a teenager with cerebral palsy who was also supporting his paralyzed mother. Just scum of the earth

•

u/nagidrac 2h ago

Holy... I just watched an old interview where RJ explained what happened and he said she would target actors with disabilities or older actors and steal from them.

•

u/BujuBad 56m ago

In a world where justice still exists, she'd be found liable for creating contributing factors that led to his tragic death and held criminally accountable.

•

u/midsumernighttts 13m ago

shameful and evil

•

u/h0neybl0ss0m29 Not parasocial enough for this 2h ago

Heard that too. I think it was actually a she.

•

u/Think_Bag_2987 1h ago

but that he committed suicide partly b/c his financial advisor stole from him is just the absolute worst. may that guy or gal rot in hell.

I don't think there is any evidence that this is why he committed suicide. He said recently that it took him 10 years, but he had paid off all the debt.

•

u/Stuck_In_Purgatory 2h ago

I can't help but feel like poor RJ got exhausted from a harder life.

Chronically struggling to function is such a drainer. It doesn't matter what form that might take; depression, autism, cerebral palsy, chronic pain, chronic allergies.... it could be anything.

As a kid you've still got that magical endless energy. When you're constantly fighting, you're on a very fast road to burn out.

I feel for RJ. I'm so sorry that he couldn't find another way out of the constant fight. Sometimes though you just need to rest.

•

u/totallycalledla-a I ain’t reading all that. Free Palestine 🇵🇸 1h ago

A friend of mine is tooling around writing something about the specific burnout high functioning/achieving disabled people can go through and this performing seal type trap they can fall into having to be all inspiring and overcoming everything all the time and how exhausting that is. Its a lot and a huge amount of people go through it. We nearly lost her to it I wonder if it was a similar thing here maybe. God rest his soul. How horrible.

•

u/RogueStargun 1h ago

I bet it hqd more to do with his financial advisor stealing his entire Breaking Bad earnings which he was using to support his entire family

•

u/Coriandercilantroyo 37m ago

He also died on the one year anniversary of his engagement, which is also his fiance's birthday.

•

u/Mayhem370z 1h ago

Well not to mention his accountant took all his money.

•

u/Stuck_In_Purgatory 1h ago

I'll be honest, I don't know anything about his personal life.

My comment was about the baseline he already had to live with.

I can't begin to imagine the extra problems that come with fame and money.

•

u/crystalbethjo scrapping your princess points 👑 18m ago

I agree. We’re not him. We’re not his friends or his family. We won’t know what exactly led him to make his decision. And there might even be people in this and other posts trying to pinpoint a cause. (Or just speculating in a way that looks like they’re tryna pinpoint a cause.)

I just keep imagining him as the boy he was at the start of the series, since my brother is on a rewatch rn, but he’s had a whole life we’ve only ever caught glimpses of.

I don’t think anyone can really grasp what it feels like unless if you’ve been there or know someone who has.

•

u/Miserable-Zombie-121 2h ago

Just got to know he was financially supporting his family since he was just 13:(( The amount of pressure he must’ve been under is heartbreaking like he never got to be a kid☹️ Hope he rests in peace

•

u/Low-Appointment-2906 *drops bottom lip* how you doin? 👄 1h ago

I just watched a podcast where he said that he came to Hollywood because his little sister was approached for a role at 1 and a half years old.

So another case of money-hungry parents.

•

u/evagneline 2h ago

This is such a sweet message. It’s obvious he loved him so much. I’m glad he also gave resources in his post in case it could help anyone.

•

u/Wolfpackat2017 2h ago

You can tell this is authentic and from the heart- not PR written bullshit

•

u/foreverplt 2h ago

I knew it would hit Bryan hard. I didn’t expect this though - god damn it.

& I actually, truly trust that Bryan made an impression on RJ like RJ has said, & idk, in all of Hollywood, Bryan really is one of the greats, and I have great respect for him. Reading this actually brought tears to my eyes.

•

u/MaximumPenguin0819 2h ago

That's so heartbreaking. 💔

•

u/trixiewutang 2h ago

Heartbreaking loss. Rest in peace RJ.

•

u/TallanoGoldDigger 2h ago

Seeing Cranston's post for his TV son and seeing Jack Coleman's post for his TV daughter when they both passed hits hard bro

You can tell they treated their TV kids like their own children

•

u/Heart_robot 2h ago

There’s something that gets me about tv and movie families when they care so deeply. Especially when other adults failed them.

•

u/TheVintageJane 1h ago

Something that a lot of child stars report as causing them issues later in life is that they think their TV family are their real loved ones and don’t understand how those relationships can end just because the professional obligation ends after several years.

I always appreciate when adult actors realize that a TV family is a lifelong commitment like you see from Bryan Cranston and the Modern Family parents and Danny DeVito.

•

u/cheesecakekween 2h ago

Sometimes even better than their own parent(s)… such as Hayden

•

u/OneCookie5427 2h ago

A friend of mine took her life about three years ago. She was texting me the week of late at night one evening, asking me if I was home because she wasn’t OK. I wasn’t able to answer the text that night and made the worst mistake of my life. I put the phone down. I had a date that night.

I texted her the next afternoon. She never got back to me.

Three days later she took her own life.

I’ve never forgiven myself.

His note on wondering if scheduling that lunch might have changed something is something I think of every day. I hope he knows it’s not his fault, and that he shouldn’t dwell on things as I have.

•

u/lethalcleanliness 45m ago

It's not your fault. I regret not calling and visiting my aunt more before she killed herself. Hope you are able to forgive yourself. ❤️

•

u/Spartamuggle 2h ago

This is so heartbreaking. Life is so fragile and there is so much suffering in the world.. all one can do is be kind to people and hope that that lifts the weight off oneself and others

•

u/Independent_Button61 2h ago

I know nothing of RJ except for CP and Breaking Bad.

It’s heartbreaking that he thought this was his only way out.

If someone actually took advantage of him and stole from him.. that’s horrific.

I hope Karma gets whoever hurt him

•

u/a-woman-there-was 1h ago edited 27m ago

Same about not knowing much about him aside from the show and how he actually lived with CP, but he brought such a genuine sweetness to the role and that alone makes this one hurt for me. From all the tributes to him it seems like that good-naturedness was true to his personality.

•

u/Im_Just_A_Tourist 2h ago

*** okay that's a rough one to read and I know that feeling of wondering if you had just made time and met up for lunch or dinner if it would have made a difference.

This was such a beautiful, sincerely message about such heartbreak.

•

u/MediocreTrash 2h ago

ugh, this is truly so heartbreaking. i loved his character on the show and it must have been amazing to witness his growth as an actor.

•

u/ichibansholdings 2h ago

What a heartfelt and genuine connection they must have had to pen such a beautiful note to his onscreen son. I’m so saddened by his loss, but he must have been dealing with unimaginable darkness. Ive been there and it’s fucking hell. I wish everyone dealing with such a burden had the help and support they deserved. RIP RJ

•

u/periodicsheep 2h ago

like so many others, rj mitte’s death has me shaken and distraught. until i was in my mid 30s, i don’t remember a day i didn’t wish and plot to end my life. i made it, but every time i learn about someone who didn’t, it tears a hole in my heart.

i beg and implore you all- please be kind and loving to yourself, take care of yourself, and give yourself grace for your mistakes and perceived flaws. please check on your loved ones if you can, give a stranger a reason to smile. we are all we have, and i don’t want any of you to end your story in despair. there is always help, or a listening ear. i’ll be your ear if you need it. please, just take care of yourselves.

•

u/Arlitto 2h ago

Oof. Bryan is going to hang on to that guilt for a long time. That guilt of, "if only I'd actually made time for that lunch, maybe he wouldn't have killed himself." So sad to lose such a young actor and advocate 😔

•

u/kaytay3000 2h ago

I lost a great aunt to suicide. It was really devastating. We asked so many “what ifs” afterwards, but the reality is that even if you do everything exactly right, it still happens.

TW: suicide

We had helped her seek mental health treatment over the years. When she threatened to shoot herself, we took her gun. A family member checked in on her multiple times a week. But in the end she found an antique gun that had belonged to her father that we didn’t know she had and we didn’t know it actually still worked. My grandmother (her sister) lived with guilt the rest of her life that she didn’t do more, but there was nothing more that she could have done.

•

u/Adventurous-Hour4126 2h ago

Just devastating

•

u/insipidfap 1h ago

I just want to say, I know this is unimportant in the face of this horrific tragedy, but kudos to Cranston for putting out a statement that came from the heart, that he clearly wrote himself. It seems like so many of these celebrity statements these days are obviously written by an LLM, and everyone's starting to sound the exact same, and it just makes everything sound so fake and impersonal.

•

u/anothertrytaken 2h ago

Couldn’t help but read that in his (Bryan C) voice and that made it somehow even more heartbreaking 💔

•

u/imliterallyjustagirl 2h ago

This is so heartbreaking. Just rewatched BB this year. One of the greatest shows ever made. All of the cast put their heart and soul into it and I’m happy the memory of RJ will continue to live on through the show and his other projects. 💕

•

u/AllTheCoolNames 2h ago

Heart breaking. This has made me sad all day.

I have friends who have almost left us but they've always gone to get help so they're still with us. I'm eternally grateful, my life is better with them in it.

•

u/theykilledcassandra dont ask, a lot was happening 2h ago

•

u/IntelligentSearch809 2h ago

RIP RJ ❤️ Thank you for all the great moments in breaking bad. One of my favorite shows. Goodbye Flynn 💔

•

u/LittleRedCorvette2 2h ago

"Deep despair" is exactly right.

•

u/usernamesarehard44 1h ago

Devastating that mental health continues to be ignored in first world countries. RIP, heartbroken

•

u/Stupid-Clumsy-Bitch Brutus is just as cute as Caesar 1h ago

This is such heartbreaking news. And to learn RJ was scammed by his agent and accountant. Just awful. Hopefully he is at peace now.

•

u/lebryant_westcurry 1h ago

Man this is so sad. RJ was so young, he had so much ahead of him.

Check in on your loved ones, you really never know what they're truly going through.

Also fuck his accountant. While it can't bring him back, hopefully some justice will be served at the very least

•

u/Own-Importance5459 ✨May the Force be with you!✨ 1h ago

I barely knew him but the whole thing is so sad.

Please check on your people you never know what they are going through and dont be afraid to reach out if you are not doing well!

•

u/Garymilojoeywendel 1h ago

I met him once and he was very kind RIP

•

u/Prettyladydoc 1h ago

Oh RJ. This hurts so bad. I hope his loved ones find comfort.

Cranston is such an eloquent gem of a man. The guilt can be so overwhelming.

•

u/Vlaed 1h ago

If you're struggling with depression or something else thst leading you down that path, seek help. My friend Bill took his life in 2018. I don't think a week goes by that I don't think of him. People do care. You just don't always see it and we don't always express it perfectly.

•

u/midsumernighttts 14m ago

my heart is so broken over this :(((((

•

u/Money_Adhesiveness90 2h ago

did he actually have Cerebral Palsy?

•

u/ria_89 The Wizard of Loneliness 2h ago

Yes

•

u/Specialist_Office274 2h ago

why would brian cranston say he did if he actually didn't

•

u/FormerPomelo 2h ago

He's a method actor.

•

u/Money_Adhesiveness90 1h ago

idek who brian cranston is i watched breaking bad years ago and was just a casual enjoyer so idk anything about the actors or the lore so to speak.

•

u/Emperor_Gourmet 54m ago

Brian Cranston (Walter White) is a huge actor, not just from breaking bad. You don’t need to know the lore to have seen him randomly in hundreds of things. He’s also the guy making the post and pictured with RJ…

•

u/internThrowawayhelp 44m ago

He was an actor that worked with RJ Mitte for like 8 seasons and clearly stayed in contact afterwards. You don't need to know who he is, he obviously knew RJ Mitte at a very personal level.

•

u/Benana 50m ago

It would literally take the briefest google search to find this out.

•

u/EditDog_1969 1h ago

I sat next to him on a plane and we chatted for 2 hours. He has CP, but he greatly exaggerated the symptoms for the show.

•

u/mr_poopy_butthole06 1h ago

Nah, just a ruse
