As far as I can tell, Ella Langley hasn't publicly made any political stance on anything. She could do the funniest thing right now.

Elle performed at conservative events this year

Oh, which ones?

She performed at the Kid Rock festival this past summer

She previously opened for Morgan Wallen, but that doesn’t necessarily mean anything this early in her career.

I’m not sure I’d call that a conservative event even if you don’t like Wallen. Not in the same ways I’d call, say, a Kid Rock concert a conservative event.

Also Morgan Wallen has specifically avoided politics. Maybe we can guess what he believes but he’s not spoken about it nor has he promoted anything.

He’s actually turned down invites from Trump.

So I wouldn’t say merely opening for him, especially given he’s maybe the biggest country star of the moment, says anything about someone’s politics

One can only assume based on his eagerness to say the N word and also his association with other conservatives.

I mean he’s been caught using the n word and throwing chairs from rooftops among other things. He sucks

I don’t doubt he’s conservative but right-wing men don’t own being problematic.

She chose to tour with him THIS YEAR. she knows who he is and how shit he is, there’s no excuses for touring with him

Ella did a concert in my college town and I went and she gave full monologues that almost felt like megachurch talk. I wouldn’t be surprised if she was super conservative but also I don’t really need Ella Langley’s thoughts on geopolitics lol

She was raised Southern Baptist and probably spent a lot of time in Bible belt megachurches growing up. Regarding of her political beliefs, it’s not surprising that performance style had an influence.

I don’t think Ella is interested in politics at all but doesn’t wanna alienate country radio. Kacey, The Chicks, anyone who speaks out gets treated like shit by an industry that should uplift them. I don’t know that I really blame Ella for not involving herself when her career is so fledgling. Kacey has an AOTY Grammy and doesn’t have to take this shit anymore. I do hope things change dramatically in country music one day as it is a genre that was built on sticking it to the man. I don’t know how it strayed so far from its intentions.

MAGA are the funniest people in that they think they’re sticking it to the man by…supporting the current president in the most cult-y way possible. I guess to them “the man” = libs.

Her career is fledging (and bought and stolen but that’s a whole other thing) but she has soooo much protection and privilege because of her family wealth- her father is an AI involved billionaire that founded Groupon.

I mixed up Stella and Ella - downvotes deserved

She performed at Kid Rock's MAGA festival despite the backlash, while on stage she gave a speech telling people to ignore "internet negativity" and social pressure, and she called critics "empty wagons". She also praised Kid Rock in interviews.

Wasnt it uncovered her accounts followed Charlie Kirk and similar types

Yes, that too. Without being mean, I think people here arguing that so and so might not be conservative or MAGA, need to realize that they just need to learn more about dog whistles. Most people won't come out and say they're racist, but their actions will

I think she’s a country Ed Sheeran and is gonna say “I don’t do politics.” And like him is too dumb or ignorant to know that shows us exactly what side you’re on.

47

u/strangelyliteral 6h ago

Ed genuinely betrayed his principles. I will die on the hill that he probably talked a big game in private about Israel committing genocide. It’s not a coincidence that every one of his opening acts and his touring band were pro-Palestinian. He benefited from their activism, especially amongst fans who were otherwise nervous about his “apolitical” stance (lowkey a bit of stolen valor there). But when that activism threatened his bottom line, he turned craven and that’s why he comes off so pathetic.

Ella’s demographic are “independents” who “don’t do politics” and “both sides” everything because they don’t want to publicly admit they voted for Trump three times. Nobody expects better of her or her audience; she’s MAGA until proven otherwise. Her base is more likely to turn on her for, say, saying something nice about a trans person.

Ed has always been “No sides” guy. Interesting how he’s only gotten controversy about it now.

Lyrics from “what do I know?” 2017
“daddy told me “son don’t get involved in politics, religion or other peoples quotes””

Do I think Ed Sheeran leans towards hard right political view, no. But I do think it’s interesting who he decides to be friends with (freinds with everyone…). And that he is a firm believer in the “shut up and sing, don’t talk about politics” mindset.

But he did take a side and make political statements about the invasion of Ukraine, that’s the most problematic part IMO.

He wouldn’t have had anywhere near as much backlash about wussing out where it comes to Palestine if he truly hadn’t ever spoken up politically.

But IMO as a public figure, he can’t break that rule to speak out about one genocidal conflict that’s “safe” to speak up against with virtually no backlash, then try and invoke the no politics rule again to weasel out of speaking up against the much more controversial genocide that comes with a tonne of backlash.
