Finally got a fridge

Post image

Picked up a fridge finally and holy heck is it heavy. I didn’t go with a drawer because I wanted to be able to take it inside to load, but I doubt if I could lift this thing full into the back of my suv. What do people prefer for theirs (1) leave it in the back of the suv permanently or (2) store it inside, be able to precool, and just carry the racks separately? Power would be from a jackery 1000.

Mine's in my truck permanently, and powered permanently (year-round).

...I put a big solar panel on the roof so I never need to think about the leisure battery charge level, the fridge being cold or not, etc.

It's an Alpicool 45L dual-zone. I keep one side at freezer temps and the other side as a fridge.

NGL, half the time I leave my shopping in the truck fridge then bring bits into the house as I use them.

I have the same one and just leave it inside. I pre-cool it the night before with an extension cord or just use my battery pack.

Interesting concept, I hadn’t seen this type before.

But if you open the side, doesn’t that let all the cold air out?

I thought that was the advantage to a chest cooler; if you opens the top, the colder and heavier air stays inside..?

Ehh, the coldness of a fridge is in the walls and the items in it, not in the air.

I just bought that same fridge and love the side opening door. I carry mine to the car empty and then take the baskets out and load those separately. Enjoy!

This is brilliant! Mine was so high on top of drawers that I had climb up on tailgate to get access even on a slide

I dont own one but have put an unhealthy amount of thought into it for road tripping in the future. Id definitely want it to easily come in and out to pre cool. Weight is an unfortunate factor, which is why id like to keep it low and easily accessible. Like in a backseat footwell if I dont need all passenger seats.

Im thinking now, another option could be to leave it in the car full time, if you dont need the trunk space when not traveling, and have the power cable easily accessible. Then just plug it in in your garage or something to precool

What size is that one?

45L. I little later than I need but for the one week long trip I do every year it’s perfect.

I just leave it in the truck and carry my food out. It’s no harder than bringing groceries in the house. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I have an APL35 and have been eyeing that one as an upgrade, how do you like it?

Just got it. Easy to use. Max draws 25.7 Wh/hour and evo is like 10.7 Wh/h. Like it so far, except it’s heavy. If there was a 35L I might have gone that way v

Mine doesn’t feel that much heavier with or without food unless it’s all drinks.

Mine is strapped into a tilting drawer slide, so it stays in the truck. The battery comes in and stays plugged into a wall outlet.

I pre-cool the fridge with an extension cord on a reel (one of my favorite garage purchases). To load I go back and forth between carrying my groceries out or bringing the baskets in. Small items can stick out of the baskets which sometimes makes them annoying to put in. But it is nice to load the baskets in the kitchen because sometimes I have to switch containers, measure out smaller portions, or leave things behind.

I keep mine in my truck. Pre cool it with an extension chord before leaving. Then let my solar powered power bank take over while on the road.

Side is a good idea, until you realize you still have to dig from the top 🤣

Idk where you live, but if u live in metro cities in the US, do not leave it in your car. People will smash and grab.

I run my Vevor 54l from a Jackery 1000. The fridge & power stays put in the vehicle.

It’s honestly a stupid idea hello heat your welcome in

Disagree. There are lots of places where it’s too tight to open the lid and the side opening solves it.

Well I got it so I can stow stuff in my suv on top of the cooler while still being able to access the cooler.

You think your going to dig through a 55 quart or larger fridge from the side?
