Trip Report Just miles of nothing.
BLM land is a special thing we have in this country.

Yes it is
Now vote for people who won't destroy it or give it to billionaires

It's a complete different experience than down south. "big sky" country really doesn't even do justice to how incredible it is.

What a beautiful photo!
Being from Texas, I agree, it’s so different from the south. I spent a year driving around the west/PNW and learned to appreciate how much accessible land there is.

I thought I was gonna hate driving through Nevada and initially planned to haul ass through i80. Then found the higher elevation route on highway 50 which turned out to be possibly the best choice on a 90 day trip. It's stark, barren, secluded, empty and spectacular. Nevada is 63% BLM, 80+% federal land. Nevada has more named mountain ranges than any other state at 314. We were just high enough in elevation to not need AC when i80 planned stop was mid 90s. Don't tell anyone.

Stark, barren, secluded — but awesome. Could you see yourself living there, alone, for eternity ?

It's actually not nothing. It's teeming with life, just not human kind.
