It looks like they didn’t forget the last letter as much as they ran it through a copier or a printer that had a narrower margin than the original. They may well have proofread the original document, but not verified the copy so well. You can even see the edge of the letter “u”.

This is how paper margins works. They tried to print too close to the edge of the paper. There is a tiny hint of the start of the last character.
