Original Question Tips for playing as a Khajit/unarmed

I’ve never done a play through as a Khajit but I’m thinking that I will do it & also go for primarily unarmed combat.

I don’t want to use hacks, etc. but what would be some good early game spells, items etc. to get?

And I play on XBox so I cannot use mods.

Greetings. In arena district you can get +5 to hand to hand while watching fight between argonian and woman. In tent outside Vilverin you can find hand to hand skill bock. Set Restoration and Alterations as major skill. Fortified fatigue spell help you in fight. You can buy it in Edgards discount spells in market district. Also use shield spell to protect yourself. 10% elemental shield can be bought in warlocks luck and better shield spells in Cheydinhal mages guild.

Also you can steal unique bands from chest owned by that arena fighter. They fortify +20 to hand to hand.

Bands of kwang Lao is the best early game item regarding h2h combat, and you can use it for most of the game (until your h2h is 80), only con is it involves stealing. Eventually the damage scaling makes kind of obnoxious to only use 2h2, so you can either combine it with other source of damage (generally destruction), or lower the difficulty and use worse gear on purpose (I like this approach due to role playing reasons). Prioritise leveling strength and endurance, as your damage scales also with strength, and endurance hp scaling will grant you enough tankiness to deal with late game (having lots of stamina is also great to dominate fights)

I had Hand to hand orc with restoration build. Even without spec in magicka pool restoration dealt more damage than maxxed h2h.

I would probably try to fortify your fatigue to deal more damage, since in og if you have more fatigue than your base, you deal more damage.

You playing OGblivion or the Remastered?

If I’m not mistaken, one important difference is damage scaling math was edited to no longer be as connected to fatigue. So your max damage per punch for remastered caps out at a lower number.

Main suggestion is do not overlevel your character, especially if you want to play any of the higher difficulty levels, as enemy HP scales so much faster than your hand to hand damage so eventually it takes an almost endless amount of punches to defeat enemies.

Not sure if you’re interested, but when I did a hand to hand khajit playthrough (my most recent character), I eventually added touch magic and mixed that in between punches in order to keep up with enemy HP. That helps a whole bunch with the damage issue at high levels and makes up for not being able to enchant your gauntlets with magic damage on punch (as compared to swords).

Favorite levels were the first 10. after that hp scaling was too much.

OGblivion: Arena, two people punching there gets you free levels for h2h (save it for higher skill levels). Same place (roughly) is a locked chest that you can steal some good bands from for +20 h2h or something... get them EARLY.

Remastered: Same things but also learn a Damage Stamina Spell (either touch range or make a touch range yourself)... they nerfed h2h HARD in remaster. (Try not to go past like lvl 10, your damage can NOT keep up).

Str/End matter in both.
