People calling this AI without backing evidence is just so lame. There’s no way someone who’s been doing this for over 12 years would randomly upload AI content. Other than that, the shadows and even the bits and parts are very much visibly “right”.

People making accusations with no proof to back them up? Say it isn't so!
Real artists get fucked both ways now.

Too good? You're ai. Too bad? Ai. Too generic? Ai. Too weird? Ai.

This shit is genuinely ruining this website. I see AI claimed on an almost daily basis now and it has been wrong easily 50+ times over the past several months and correct... literally twice.
They will claim AI and then a simple google search shows the video predates AI video generation or the creator has been making the same content for a decade or more.
I see it most commonly on animal videos and art videos just like this. Which fucking sucks because both those kinds of videos require a shitload of effort by the photographers and artists to make/capture.

It's not AI.. but a lot of the sculptures are just curved sheet metal with a wrench welded on here and there.

u/MaybeMidgets 1d ago
The only sheet metal I see is on the horns. You either need to put your glasses on or watch it at a slower speed because these are incredibly detailed and I was able to make out dozens of different tools and parts on each sculpture.

This is what people think they're gonna do when they collect random junk lol.

I do this too but in a much smaller scale.
Kitbashing my warhammer minis with stuff I found on the ground.

We used to make DIY skateparks and when ever we had angle iron or metal, some scalper would jack our shit. It got so bad we just had to use a rub brick and wax the edges of the cement.

When I build a home I'm definitely buying some of this guy's stuff

I saw a small dog of his at an art exhibit in NZ that was listed at 4.5k NZD.

I think calling it AI is a fair criticism. He takes scrap metal but, where a folk artist might place the items into the sculpture as-is. He manipulates each piece with sophisticated machinery. The horse manes metal strips , the polished panels, every piece of metal is being forced into its role in the figure. It creates an uncanny valley visually, because folk art is meant to be aesthetically imperfect due to the materials used. But when the materials are made perfect it is tricking us in a similar way AI does — Presenting the idea of art but devoid of a human fingerprint.

Thank you for speaking out of complete ignorance and not actually checking the source that is listed in the post above.
This guy has been making art like this for at least 10 years.
The video is real, the art is real. Scrap metal sculptures are a common form of art because the materials can often be sources for little to no money and the result is obviously pretty fucking cool. Apparently too cool for you to believe is real.

TRAIN YOUR EYES BETTER. The shadows make perfect sense, you can see where the sun is coming from in each short video and the shadows cast exactly how they should. He also has a numerous other posts of these same sculptures.
You have no idea what the you are talking about. This guy has 1,500 posts on instagram showing off his artwork. He also sells these sculptures, he is not using AI to fake his art.
It is absolutely awful that in your ignorance you are taking away credit where it is due, this guy has spent thousands of hours mastering this craft and you write it off as AI when you don't even know how to spot AI. AI does not have any issues with shadows anymore, you clearly do not follow its development at all.

You are the one that is gullible, you think that AI still has problems with shadows? LOL... That has long not been an issue with AI. The shadows are literally perfect in these videos.
The videos are real, the artwork is real. Nothing you say will change that reality.

This is AI Slop. The shadows are all messed up.
Edit I stand corrected. This guy is a legend.
All can go back to work and ignore this post

The guy making these is an Aussie and he’s been making these for about a decade… not AI at all

You have no idea what you are talking about, this guy is genuinely just that good and his sculptures go back to at least as early as 2016

You are AI slop. The video is real, the sculptures are real, dude has been doing this for a very long time. Long before AI video generation.
This isn't even an uncommon style of art.
This guy has been making sculptures just like this for at least a decade.
Absolutely awful that people like yourself are taking credit away from exceptional artists who have honed their craft likely over tens of thousands of hours.

I feel so sorry for you people; in your world nothing cool will ever actually exist again all so you can feel like you’re part of a clic that says “I told you so” and are typically wrong.

Jesus dude the cart is not missing a wheel it is just blocked by the cart. There is almost certainly a wheel under it.
THAT was your proof it was AI? The least you could do is educate yourself on what AI struggles with today because it does not have any issues with details like cart wheels anymore.
His artwork goes back to 2016, he has been doing this for at least 10 years. Same skill shown off early on as he has today.
He also sells the sculptures, why would he fake shit he couldn't even sell to people?

He isn't faking it, the video is real, his artwork is real.
You have no idea what you are talking about. AI doesn't make nonsensical errors like a missing cart wheel anymore.
It is also clearly just blocked by the black part of the actual cart.
It is absolutely awful to be sitting her taking credit away from an artist who has spent thousands of hours mastering his craft, and has been making this kind of art for at least 10 years. Ages before AI video generation.
Since you have no clue, I will tell you one thing AI still actually struggles with, and that is consistency between generations. Tiny things often change from generation to generation, yet the pictures and videos he posts of these sculptures never change.
They are real, but your media literacy and common sense sure isn't.

Your brain is the slop actually.
The least you could do is actually educate yourself on what AI is capable of before you claim to know what is real or isn't real.

Maybe it's AI enhanced, because I know for sure AI can't make accurate looking dinosaurs, like we see here. At best they look like JP copies, at worse its sauropods with t-Rex heads.

u/MaybeMidgets 1d ago
It’s not AI enhanced. Stop spreading bull shit. This guy has been making these sculptures for over 10 years.

You are lame as hell for not checking for a source before wrongly claiming AI on a video with real artwork by an exceptional artist.
His work goes back to at least 2016. The video is real, the artwork is real, but your medial literacy and common sense sure isn't.

YOU are AI slop. This video is real, the artwork is real, this guy has been making sculptures like this for 10 years.
At bare minimum check for a source before you claim AI out of your own ignorance.

It is actually real and his sculptures go back to at least 2016.
Really sucks that exceptional artists can't get credit where they deserve it. Also sucks how many ignorant people have no idea how to spot AI and basically just see things they think are too cool and then claim AI without searching for a source.

I know there are a lot of people who do things like that, but this specific video feels AI as fuck.
