Hello,
I know I am not the first to ask this, but most I have seen is from people that are not used to driving in snow. I am moving to NH from Alaska, so I am used to long snows and driving in winter.
Family from NH has said the ice is the biggest issue, though when I ask for more clarification answer generally is "haven't lived there in 30+ years, don't remember"
So my question is: are the roads cleared pretty often, or is it like say Anchorage where you have snow pack from first snow until last and don't see pavement until the first melt? Also, with the ice storms, is it more 'they are a pain when they come but only during certain times of year' or are they pretty frequent in winter?
My other biggest issue was getting high centered with my car cause it is a little ford focus- does that happen as often, or generally not as common? I do carry a shovel just in case.
I also drive carefully and slow down in snow, and how alaskan drivers drive in snow as if their big truck is immune to the elements irritates me; so there is that information too about my driving habits in winter.
With potential job, I will be traveling all around New England as a technician, so I know area can depend.
I do apologize if I missed a post having a very similar question too, and thank you in advance!
Edit: Thank you all for the wonderful comments, advice, and information! I will be looking into a proper replacement for splash shield of car as the cover fell off some time ago, so that will be priority as well as going in for maintenance before / after winter regarding salt such as the oil coating. That is not something I knew was a concern but makes sense, and thank you so much for making me aware!!
