This is beyond repairability in my eyes.The coating is disintegrating, this can't be restored to previous condition.

It’s just the zipper flap. Brush off whatever is loose and let it be. It is not coming back to life. Maybe some seam tape or sew a light lining in there if you don’t like the look.

Imo the bag is totally fine and still usable, it’s just the PU coating is done. PU doesn’t last forever and can even break down after a short time. I wash/brush off the coating, which takes a bit of work, but I continue to use bags for years. I have arcteyx bags from ‘08 that are still going, i had to do this long ago but still use them a ton

I see bits of truth in three other responses here:
* Yes, the PU has gone bad and you can’t truly restore it to original. However, as long as the fabric is still strong enough to hold your stuff, then…
* Clean with a brush.
* Silicone diluted with mineral spirits (or Permatex Silicone Windshield Sealant) should help to waterproof it.
* I wonder if FlexSeal spray would work? They don’t say what it really is inside the can, so it’s a guess, but it sounds easy to apply. No clue how well it might work.
