FULL COMMUNISM POSTING ACHIEVED!
Glorious Citizens of the People's Repblic of /r/mwo, rejoice!
The Free Market has failed, and we have achieved Full Communism! This means new rules!
All former rules remain in place, but to remind you:
Site-wide rules still apply, see here for more: https://www.reddit.com/help/contentpolicy/
In particular: No doxxing each other, you shitlords. Don't even try it. We don't care if you are wrong.
The rule about making a mod laugh in your report and getting the reported poster a one day ban is cool and good.
Account selling is still fine here. On your head be it if PGI catch you. Caveat Emptor.
Finally, due to excessive toxicity from some unfunny bads over the last few days, we are adding rules similar to the card game which sounds like it is derived from Chairman Mao's name, but isn't (it's a happy coincidence though).
IE: "this is the only rule that I can tell you".
Happy posting, Citizens!

Advertise Your MWO Units/Community - ClanFinder.GG
Hey MechWarrior Pilots!
I run https://clanfinder.gg/ where you can advertise your MechWarrior units for free.
Our goal at ClanFinder.gg is to make it easier to advertise your community and for potential members to find communities, no matter what game they play.
We previously teamed up with r/GTAOnline, so crews and potential members had one centralized place to go. While I don't personally play GTA, I do play MWO and MechWarrior 5, so I took the liberty of adding those titles to the site as well.
It costs nothing to create your community page and start advertising on the site.
If you do want to stand out amongst the crowd their are ways to boost your community page, where I am happy to report we donate 30% of all revenue to Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, All Hands and Hearts and American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
Lastly, we are very active on the site, so if there are older versions of MechWarrior that your group plays or any other title for that matter that you'd like to see an option for, we can easily add them for you.

Is there a way to get the white and red 13 skin for the Urbanmech?
I really like the Urbie skin that is shown on the Urbanmech pack in the store (on the mwo website), so I bought the pack when it was on sale a month or two ago. Unfortunately, the special variant that should have come with that skin was instead an, admittedly cool, variant that resembled the Clan Urbie and had a green and brown pattern. Neat, but not what I ordered, and I decided to have it refunded. So, is there still a legit way to get that skin?

Returning to the game after couple years. How is the community?
I recall that builds frequently change but have forgotten where i could go find these and while waiting for my game to install thought id post this quesiton. Also, would i be correct in assuming games still fairly alive? Am getting a rush for playing fps mech combat right now.
Thanks.

MWO feels like a game that people would play in Iain M Banks' Culture universe
Any fans of Iain M Banks over here?
I was just thinking about how MWO would fit in The Culture universe. The idea of being spawned into a team of big stompy robots, to go kill another team, maybe get yourself killed. It's very much something a bored Culture citizen would invent.
Maybe it'd be a very realistic sim. Or maybe it'd genuinely be real life but with a protected or backed up version of yourself. The Minds would be rettiscent to risk harm to biologicals, but A GSV could probably whip up real mechs super quickly if they were persuaded by their resident humans.

First time in YEARS ..
I play off and on, mostly because I work out of town. Back then, I used to get 1000+ games easily.
Now it's not that easy anymore. Today I finally broke 1000. At most I was getting 800...

New player getting frustrated and looking for help and advice.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hello everyone. I'm a relatively new player to the game, with about 44 hours or so sunk, and I'm starting to get...frustrated. It feels like I somehow do no damage, but when the enemy hit me, with the same gear, it feels like I got hit by the full power of the sun. Can anyone help explain what's going on? I have added some clips from the training grounds to try to explain what I see. It took 3 salvos of 2 AC/20s to core a Catapult, an 5 to core an Atlas. Thanks.
EDIT 10/10/26: Thank you all so much for the feedback and the help and the explanations. I was...hesitant to reach out and ask, due to previous experiences with other games, but this community has been nothing but kind.
In regards to the feedback, I have taken it to mind, and have picked up a basic BSW-X1, with SSRM 6s and Machine Guns. I understand that this is an incredibly close range build, but I have learned way more, and have had way more fun (more importantly), than by continuing to bash my head into the Stone Rhino + AC/20 wall. Thank you all, once again!
A whole buncha questions from a new player
Hello to all the Clanners and to my fellow Sphereical people in the sub. I'm four days into MWO and I'm having a great time, but I wonder about a few things:
-is it considered a faux-pas to bodyrush an opponent after having my weapons shot off while fighting at close range? I'm not really sure how heavy mech headbuts factor into zellbrigen
-what determines the faction voice over the radio when on a mission? Is it just the kind of mech we choose, either Clan or Inner Sphere, or is there something else?
-LRM builds: I'm not great with them though I am having a lot of fun, but are my allies and opponents? I want my Vulture/Mad Dog to be hated due to it's enviable successes in battle not due to any accidental trolling
-does anyone else think the Catapult looks like a tyrannosaurus with missile pods on it's shoulders? In a good way, I mean
-are there any weapons or gear to avoid? From spectating others it seems like every single weapon (aside from flamers) has some kind of use in some kind of build but the game's been out for a while and there has to be something that's been heavily nerfed or just doesn't work like it was intended to after so many updates and game changes
-is Faction Play still a thing? I'd love to rank up enough to get a free mech bay or two but it doesn't seem like a very lively feature

Any experience with PGI tech support?
Tried returning to the game and haven't been able to launch MWO. After fiddling with it myself for a bit I reached out.
Been 7 working days. Maybe I am just impatient but I'm wondering if I should resubmit or what. I don't wanna be guy crowd sourcing his tech issues on reddit but I've got like 1800hrs and 300+ mechs. I wish to play!
Any experiences to share good or bad? Should I hold out a little longer?

Beware my Archer's death stare
I bought an Archer ARC-2W-C on the recommendation of Ginger Steele.
The lasers on top reminded me of googly eyes, so......

Wanted to share a near 1v6 clutch from today. Would have won it if I weren't so wasteful with the ammo in the beginning of the match.

Peanut Boss - Stock Mech Gameplay Videos Channel
Hi guys,
I have been into Battletech since playing Mechwarrior 2 back in 1995. I got into Mech Warrior Online a few years ago after finally getting a better PC. I like watching various MWO content creators and thought I would start adding my own game play videos. I wanted to do something different so I will be only playing stock mechs. Maybe you will find it as entertaining as I do.
Feedback is appreciated as well!
Cheers

Trying to master the HBK but stuck on the HBK-4j
Hey peeps, I've been trying to buy and master all the Hunchback variants since it's my favorite mech but I'm kinda stuck on the 4J.
I'm definitely a brawler by trade and love a good scrap with assault mechs in the 4SP or 4G but I wanted to challenge myself by using LRMs... It hasn't been going very well and it really feels like I lose ranking every time I drive this thing. The only time I do any real damage or get kills is when I charge in with the 6 small lasers.
I'd like to hear any feedback from you all for lRM play or just how to run this kind of mech. I'm trying to go for a Calvary Archer style role that mixes scouting with second line fighting but I can accept if that's not the right play here.
Pros so far: I'm usually one of the fastest mechs on the team and the LRMs help me figure out where people are by dead firing them somewhere then seeing if someone's AMS goes off. It's still a Hunchback so brawling with 6 small lasers is doable with such a speedy build.
Negatives: LRMs are painful to use. I mostly have to take a few shots just to get my own lock especially with tag since the head mount is on the opposite side of the hunch, I hate having a separate button just for tag if I bring one and I only do damage when I suppress someone with volleys or deadfire them at mechs.
I do have a 40 MRM build which is much better (only reason why I have so many skills) but I figured that it was kinda cheating me out of the 4J experience. Any thoughts and tips would be appreciated!

Very new to MWO, interested in a few weapons/mechs/builds, anyone able to help?
Heya, as you can all read, I'm very new to MWO, been loving the lore, downloaded the game, had a few good games, but its generally been... rough.
I've been really liking the trial dire wolf- and I bought a Stone Rhino bc its one of my favourite mechs design wise... my SR 2 has never survived a single battle. It runs too hot, and seems so fragile compared to other assault mechs.
But enough about that, I've been wondering about a few mechs/builds.
I've been really wanting to build a HAG boat, HAG 40's, perhaps? I was looking into fitting them into a Kodiak, but idk how good that is.
I really do love the LB 10's, any mechs that can fit a fair amount of them in? The dire wolf was great, but the look of it is... mediocre
The fafnir looks really cool- what's the best variant/build for it.
Anyone able to un-fuck my stone rhino build? (its the attached image)
