Question Recently, I discovered that some croatian monarchists after ww1

The man the plotters wanted to make king was Archduke Leopold Salvator of Austria. He was nephew of the last Grand Duke of Tuscany and son-in-law to the Carlist Pretender Don Carlos of Madrid.

The reason for his pick was that before the war, he and his family settled in Zagred where they integrated quickly among the croatian populace.

He also supported the formation of a third separate polity within the empire that consisted of southern slavs, which drew criticism from the Hungarian government.

And more interedtingly, his youngest son, Karl Pius, was the figurehed of a offshoot branch of Carlism which supported his bid for the spanish throne.

That claim continued with his older brother, Anton, who was married to Princess Ileana of Romania. Their son, Dominic still claims the throne, but his claim is no longer relevant, as does Carlism overall. He is also the official owner of the Bran Castle as part of his inheritance from his mother.

But anyway, I want to know the opinion of croatians.

It was happening in 1919 so very early when Croatia was part of Yugoslavia.

And from what I can find, the main plotters were members of the Pure Party of Rights aka Frankists. They were croatian nationalists who did not want their homeland to be part of Yugoslavia.

But I should mention that sources on this are limited and this idea was not that widespread, even among Croatian Nationalists
