Depends on the job. Salary Smelter concentrator and others easily can. Union/hourly can’t. Salary in the pit not sure they generally take a bus to the office and the time required to do so would make that not an every day thing but everyonce in a while I’m sure they do.

When I worked there we went out for lunch but our office we drove our personal vehicles to.

What about haulage? Also, do they allow smoking on site. Trying to decide if the position is a fit before applying

Haulage being a truck driver? Definitely not, you do not have enough time to leave the pit, get food and come back in your allotted lunch break.

Also forgot to mention yes there are designated smoking areas you just can’t smoke in your truck cause it’s a dick move to your cross shift lol.

Can I leave 30 minutes earlier if I don’t take a break. In case of emergency? I got a new little guy at home

In case of an emergency you probably could. If it’s a regular thing it could turn into an issue. Being in the Union has some drawbacks flexibility is one of them, everything is governed by the CBA so your supervisor doesn’t have as much flexibility as they would at a normal place.
