I was taught that it's common courtesy to remove your hitch when not in use. Too many lazy losers can't do something that basic. Sad.

It's illegal in some jurisdictions to have a hitch with nothing on it.

It is not illegal anywhere in the US to leave a hitch in when not towing.

It is dickish and an asshole move.

Wrong. It is illegal if that hitch blocks a sidewalk. In Arizona, a state law makes it a crime punishable by a $250 fine to even partially block a sidewalk with a vehicle or an attachment, specifically including a hitch or trailer.

I'm sure it is, but that wasn't the claim.

I was taught common courtesy is to not park your back to sidewalk because you blow your exhaust directly on people, but apparently my dad was an extra considerate man
