I'm slightly vexed Kohls is the Worst

I took my son to Kohls because he needed some jeans and underwear. I haven’t been to a Kohls in a couple years because I think their store is always in disarray and I hate standing in long lines because they only have 2 or 3 of the 10 cash registers open.

But my wife had a coupon for 30% so off we went. Their clearance section is impossible to look through because they are not categorized by size, forcing everyone to just walk down the entire rack looking at each piece individually. Then, the hangers that indicate small, medium, large, extra large aren’t even on the correct size clothing, forcing you to read each tag individually.

We gave up on looking at clearance and went over to the regular priced jeans and he found two pair. Grab a bag of 6 Hanes boxer shorts for $38 and headed to the register, thinking the 30% off coupon will get out the door at $100.

After standing in line for 20 minutes, the cashier totals everything up at $138 and my wife hands her the 30% coupon. Their clearance total is $125. I commented that the discount didn’t work properly and the associate states that the jeans are name brand so not included in the sale.

I review the coupon’s fine print and see nothing about Levi jeans being excluded so I ask for clarification. The associate then states that “all high end clothes like Under Amour and Levi’s are always excluded from their promotions.” I asked how we as customers are supposed to know this unless it’s clearly excluded on the coupon. She just said sorry so we left; paying $125 for two pairs of jeans and a 6 pack of underwear.

It feels like deceptive advertising and it was the last time I shop at Kohls.

Man, I just had a couple of great experiences at Kohl’s. I went in about an hour before closing l did a quick walk through. Found about six dresses I thought I would like (I have a couple of weddings I’m attending as a guest coming up). Tried them all on and found three that looked great. Bought them and got some Kohs cash. Came back a week or two later (when I could use the Kohls cash) . Found a top I LOVED for $45 and got it FREE with my Kohls cash.

I agree, I love Kohl's, but it's annoying that the big names (Levi's, as mentioned in another comment, and Nike) are never eligible for coupons. I do love the Sonoma brand stuff, though, so I'm always happy walking out of Kohl's.

You can use Kohl's cash to buy them, but you can't use Kohl's coupons on them. Sometimes they're on sale. That's Kohl's.

Yeah I always have good experiences there. It’s a go to for wedding dresses for sure. What I always do as well is two big Christmas shopping trips in December, that usually works out in my second trip mostly being kohls cash. And they give larger amounts for the holidays.

I usually go once and mostly do my boyfriend’s family to get it out of the way , since it’s more people and most of their gifts are from there since Its harder for me to find personalized stuff for them. So kohls is perfect, blankets, candles , kitchenware, toys , everything you need for generic but useful /cozy gifts.

And then I usually end up going a second time with kohls cash and buy extra things for my sister and anything else to pick up for my family and things I want as well. One time I had 200 dollars in kohls cash lol. Mine also for years did a thing where they stayed open till like 2 am for the weeks leading up to the holidays. I’ve loved my kohls but sadly I feel it is changing. We’ll see if I can get my holiday shopping done this year.

I’ve had similar experiences. Especially when clearance is 50% off of clearance price and if you have another coupon for 20% off or 30% on home, you can get killer deals! The mirror hanging in my foyer was 120$ and I got it for 12$, and then got Kohls cash. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I shop only their clearance racks. The prices have gotten ridiculous even for clearance but it isn't too terrible when they let you use the additional % off coupons.

I like kohls too! We get a lot of kids clothes there because we can get a haul for a good deal, especially since the kids grow so fast. I like some of their basics like women’s solid color tees and tanks or their athleisure wear. I actually get my Levi’s there too, every once in a while they are on sale (not coupon but sale on the brand).

And if you forget about the Kohls cash until the night it expires, and the store is closed, order something online, in store pickup is usually free. If you have time to find something you want, cool. If not, use it for whatever and just return it later, then use that credit to shop for something you want.

I often use my Kohl’s cash for practical items like bath towels and washcloths. I’ll even get like one washcloth at a time if that’s all the Kohl’s cash covers. It’s a nice way to upgrade stuff like that over time. I have luxurious Vera Wang towels and washcloths now!

We get it, the Kohls Cult is alive and well and is being kept alive by the fanclub. Way to ignore the horrible business practices because you got a great deal!! This comment is mildly infuriating.
